Traxxas Rustler VXL 4x4 camber link breakage caused by Duratrax 6 pack ST belted bead lock wheels.
I finally figured out why I was breaking so many camber links in exactly the same spot! the inner ring on the bead lock wheels hits the camber rod and steering turnbuckle at full steering angle deflection. So when you tumble and cartwheel those bumps just slam into the turnbuckle end and breaks the link.

Redcat Racing Everest 10 mods and review.
มุมมอง 19K5 ปีที่แล้ว
I bought 3 Everest 10s recently, one for my self and each of my boys. I found it very capable straight out of the box but I did a few cheap upgrades. Right off the bat I put in Dean's connectors, 5200 mah 2S 50C lipos and a waterproof 20kg servo. Next I swapped out the motor to a 35T and cut the lugs on the tires. This thing is totally awesome now!
Air pruning wicking bed
มุมมอง 2725 ปีที่แล้ว
My original idea for this bed was to be an aquaponics/ aquaculture gravel bed. It was supposed to filter the pond and grow plants. Well the balance was never right because I didn't have nearly enough fish to produce enough nutrients for the plants. So two years later I decided to change it to a wicking bed. It's still clearly an air pruning situation because of the original design. I am expecti...

Pop pop boat

A very crude pop pop boat. This was the first time I tried to build one and have ideas for improvement. I had a fiery moment in a previous test which is why there is soot and wax in the water. I made my own tea candles with 3 wicks in them. They work pretty well but after awhile the whole cup catches fire! #poppopboat

Nice job on the Everest 10's. It's well worth the money and having 3 should be loads of fun. 👍

How did this work in the end? Looking at it, I'd say the roots push through into the air but then the dripping water underneath prevents them pruning effectively? I guess they won't spiral like they would if they were pot-bound but also won't get bushy as if they were air pruned? I'm interested in growing trees using air pruning beds and was wondering about the wet-loving species like willows...

It worked great in the air pruning aspect but not as an aquaponics bed. Just not enough fish density. I changed it to a soil wicking bed and it did great, just water intensive because of the surface area. It was an idea and it worked in several ways, but wasn't ideal.

Awesome ! I just put one of these on layaway at local pawnshop ,I have 4 tmaxx supermaxx builds and 2 jato traxxas buggy fully built ,and wltoys a959b ,I have so much fun with the Lil wltoys buggy I figured I would try my luck with a crawler ,looks like a fun truck ,just not much info out on upgrading ,looks like an excellent base platform to really get crazy with ,I'll probably do a crazy brushless upgrade of some sort after doing the upgrades you mentioned ! Great info my man ! Glad to see you enjoying a hobby with your sons ! Lucky to have a great Dad !

Hey man, I co-founded what was the largest RC Drift group in the U.S. pre-2008 and while I left them due to personal differences I had 5 years of testing car after car for the new guys. I also had time before that racing off-road buggy and truck back in the days between the TA RC10CE and Losi XXX. (My favorite will always be the Traxxas TRX-1 Buggy). But I will tell you that you are absolutely right about the little guy thing. Companies like Redcat and Exceed are perfectly good vehicles. Equipment from Hobbywing. Hobby shops like R2. Never underestimate. They allowed me to bring in dozens of new hobbiests to RCs. No better way to keep kids out of trouble. Honestly I just got into crawlers this week with a Everest 10 but the mechanical is easy. I am just glad to get my hands into it again. I never feel right unless I am deconstructing or reconstructing something and if I didn't stop buying new parts for my 76 Ford I was going to go broke :)

I just took the foams out of my son’s Everest 10 stock tires. No cutting necessary. Damn it can climb like a champ now. While it doesn’t have the clearance to completely walk up my hardwood stairs, it can now effortlessly get its front tires up a step (which has a lip), before it bottoms out on the chassis plate. Prior to the foam removal, they would just spin on the hardwood. I also put a Tamiya Torque Tuned 540 in it, that I had lying around from an old buggy kit, that I built a few years back.

    • @travispratt6327
      @travispratt6327 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I took the foam out and it’s better, but then I decided to cut it into a star like the two stage foam they sell, it’s way better than both, tire holds shape but still is soft enough to conform.

You can get more flex, slightly lower center of gravity and most importantly, a better steering angle by moving the lower links to the 2nd position on the chassis. It won't push as much into turns and it stretches the wheel base a little longer. Another free and very effective mod for this truck.

  • @bigtater29

I cut my E10 tires the same way. A nice upgrade for it are the duratrax showdowns. Similar tread pattern as what you've done but taller n the rubber compound is super.
