    So does that mean in the "on" position unless I have a bad battery if the motor is running it will charge both? I trolled with the big motor for 5 hours in the combined position and the simrad eventually died. Motor still started. Very confusing. Should I have left it in the on position?

    • @jamesjr1987
      @jamesjr1987 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you leave it in the "on" position, the motor will charge both as long as one is not 100% dead. The ACR will bridge the two after 30-45 seconds of the motor running once the voltage has gone up. Simrad is very finicky with low voltage, so you got very lucky the motor started. In the future you want to troll in On so that the electronics do not impact the starting battery. These are really good Facebook groups to join, first is the unofficial group and second is the official group with more factory people monitoring it. • @jamesjr1987
      @jamesjr1987 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Having them both AGM is the most costly but best (more vibration resistant, longer life, etc), despite Suzuki's owners manual implying AGM's can't be used. You can also go with 1 cranking and one deep cycle battery as well. Or go all in and use lithium for weight savings and longevity.? The only thing I wouldn't do is use a deep cycle for cranking battery, or use a cranking battery for the house electronics. The other options are somewhat of a sliding scale between $$$ and weight/longevity

    I have a Sea Pro 239, whenever i get gas i just enter the amount into the C10 guage and it transfers into the SIMRAD after a few secs, my issue is no matter how low i get, which i normally never run less than half, my fuel percentage is always at 99-100%

    • @jamesjr1987
      @jamesjr1987 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What you describe sounds like your Simrad is displaying the float level sensor and NOT the calculated fuel burn sensor. There are two ways to monitor the fuel tank shown on the video, and you're looking at the float level one. My guess is that it shows 100% because your dealer did not calibrate it correctly when the boat was delivered, or the C10 has been reset.

    I took my 2021 208 to the pump and filled it up until gas came out. I did this twice bc I didn’t think it was full. I ended up running out of gas. I don’t know if it is just the Sea Pro, but the non ethanol gas pumps I use seem to flood the down pipe, or how ever you want to word it. It gurgles a few times and ends up spilling out. This is problematic bc I honestly don’t know how to ever determine if I have a full tank. Most of the time I resort to getting five gallon fuel tanks and filling them up first. Is it a problem to fill it up all the way to the tippy top?

    • @jamesjr1987
      @jamesjr1987 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not, although I think what you're experiencing is related to a sealed instead of a vented gas tank. This is a requirement on new boats, so it happens to all models. It also nearly eliminates the issues with water in fuel that you see in vented fuel tanks. I never use ethanol free in my 2017 248 and I've never had any issues. I would recommend letting the gas "settle" and suck in air to balance the tank for a minute, then continue to fill. Some have reported having better luck when they wrap the nozzle in a shop rag as well. If you pop the cap and listen, you can hear it sucking in air. Don't start filling until that's done.

    • @jamesjr1987
      @jamesjr1987 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Phillip, The LED lights are just the standard ones in the t-top. Basically you have two red LEDs and the rest are blue. Flip the switch up and blue comes on for while you're docked (bugs don't like blue as much as the red), down red comes on to preserve night vision. I've loved the 248, haven't had any major issues that would sway me away from purchasing another one if I had to do it over again!

    I had a Sportsman 247 bay that was totaled during a storm. My dealer now carries Sea Pro and I am thinking of getting the 248 like yours in shark gray with the Suzuki 300 or 350. Not only do I like the Sea Pro bay boat but I like the dealer being good to work with and very helpful. I done a sea trial on a 248 with yamaha 300 and loved it. I had Suzuki on a previous boat, pretty much bullet proof so I would like to have another Suzuki. I prefer the Simrad electronics over the garmin factory installed on the Sportsman. The only real con I can find with the Sea Pro is access to bilge versus the Sportsman where everything is readily accessible. What con's, if any, have you found with your boat?
