MP5k 9mm Can Showdown - CAT MOB, RS9, Omega 9k
มุมมอง 1.1K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
CAT MOB, Resilient Suppressors RS9, and SiCo Omega 9k all square off on the MKE AP5-P with factory locking piece, Safety Harbor KES stock, and Lee Sporting LS5 trigger housing (aka lower) with Rise RA-535 single stage trigger. It’s tough to tell from the audio here, but the MOB is noticeably quieter with, IMO, the least amount of gas. It’s also the longest and heaviest (436g with the SiCo Bravo...

Riflespeed x CAT ODB - 300blk
มุมมอง 6757 หลายเดือนก่อน
CAT ODB is a low backpressure silencer. It’s so low that I had to go to a lower Riflespeed plunger! More below. Took the super 🤫 300blk SBR to the range to test out RifleSpeed’s #907 plunger with the ODB. ODB wouldn’t cycle with plunger #917 which is the perfect plunger for the DDC Enticer S (setting 11 w/ subs). ODB Ti on this 8” pistol length gas Wilson Combat 8” needs setting 12 on the RS AG...
CAT ODB x Riflespeed 300blk Subs
มุมมอง 1497 หลายเดือนก่อน
Turn your 300blk semi-auto into a bolt gun (sort of). Gas turned down to setting 1 with the @riflespeed AGB and the @specterscat ODB turns this 8” 300blk rifle into a bolt action. That is, it does not cycle: no automatic ejection, no automatic feeding. It also makes it as quiet as possible since you don’t hear the bolt closing, and the action stays closed. That said, it’s nearly as quiet eve...
YHM Handguard Modification for JPGS-9D AGB
มุมมอง 17810 หลายเดือนก่อน
Final video showing the cutout I made for the adjustable gas screw in the JPGS-9D on the YHM diamond handguard. I definitely learned by making mistakes here, but I am pleased with how it turned out. I love the quad rail. For my needs, it’s perfect, but I would be lying if I said the aesthetic played no role. I was down to the YHM and the Spikes BAR2. I don’t think you can go wrong with either, ...
CAT ODB 300blk 8” 🤫

@specterscat ODB Ti HUB on an 8” Wilson Combat barrel with @riflespeed adjustable gas block. We need more gas to lock back on empty! ODB is so good at venting that I need a shorter plunger than the 917 I use for the DDC Enticer S on a JP SCS SBR lower. #silencer #suppressor #nfa #rifle #gun

CAT ODB Ti HUB on 8” 300blk Supers and Subs
Im bouncing around the RS9 or the CAT MOB (leaning towards the MOB) as my next PCC suppressor.. Im trying to determine which one has less First round pop.. Any first hand thoughts on which is better for that?
How does that CAT Suppressor compare to the resilient RS9?
What brace/stock are you using
This is an SBR; so, I have a Safety Harbor KES stock on it. I love it!
What hub setup you running? Is that Rearden?
Yessir! Rearden SPB and an Atlas.
@ can you explain that to me some? I really don’t understand these hubs and chambers. Do you keep another Rearden part on other rifles while not in use to make swapping the can around easier? Or is it also for sound reduction? Better taper and more secure lockup?
@@connorjones6222 you have a muzzle device like a flash hider or brake that has the taper mount on the end of the barrel. Your suppressor has the Atlas adapter. This allows you to move a single suppressor to multiple hosts regardless of their barrel thread pattern because they are all using the Plan B pattern muzzle devices which pair with the Atlas. You can place a thread protector on your MD when not in use if you want (e.g., Rearden Icarus, LPM blast shield), but I don’t typically do that.
@ sweet that makes more sense now. Thank you!
Ok? What's the data?
FYI if your ever firing that don’t let it rest in a wall whatever? It move making you miss your shot there’s more to it don’t get into that habit
@@earljohnson2676 the x block? You use it to stabilize. The unique thing about the Honey Badger barrel assembly, though, is that the turnbuckle applies pressure to the barrel nut; so, it’s not entirely free float. The handguard is actually in contact with the barrel at those points; otherwise, you rest a free float handguard on the block to help with accuracy.
You need to adjust the gas your ammo is going backwards and not off to the side
@@joshuawilliamson7672 it’s 3:30-4:00 ejection with LRBHO, basically perfect and what I tuned it to do.
if it shoots it shoots
Wow… I saw PTR at CanCon but they always had a crowd… it was easier to get into the Knights, LMT, Sig booths.
I put a binary on a Foxtrot Mike 556 upper with a bullpuped lower assembly Scy from Reap Weaponries. It's a one out of one and no one knows what to make of it at the range. LOL
Buy a MOD9. You can thank me later.
Did you find a vent 3 to compare to? Soundwise. Or best to 308 tohave wiggle to jump to 30cal if wanted to
I’ve seen a couple different people say that the Vent 1 is quieter on 556 than the 556 version is..
@@cj70399 I haven’t met anyone else with a Vent 3 for comparison, but I am hoping others with more access than me can weigh in. Typically, you will get the best results matching cans with caliber-specific applications, but the Vent is already so long, and the Vent 1 is even longer that it’s an impressive result, and I just can’t imagine the Vent 3 being better enough with 5.56 to justify it. Vent 1 was noticeably quieter than the Velos LBP, and it’s rare to have that much improvement that you can actually hear and not just meter.
How is the short version?
The CAT cans are incredible.
On video they all sound very similar and very good. I've always thought the Omega 9k sounded better than the Wolfman and really any other 9mm can for use on the SP5. I am curious to try a CAT now though... Maybe one day I'll get a SP5k too and my Omega 9k can live on that and the Mob can live on my SP5.
Easy to fold from the other side.
I just realized this is how women look when they take off the makeup 😂
Which is quieter in person the mob or rs9? I’m torn between mob, rs9 and lithium for my mp5k.
Have you had any issues with Reardan full size muzzle devices being too long?
@@skyofstorms I know Rearden has some longer ones. I have their FHD, SPB, and mini along with some LPM liberty bells. None have been a problem even with the Zilch mount that I have on it now. You should be able to check the muzzle device overrun with the Atlas and Atlas XL to see if there’s enough clearance. No issue for me though.
Thanks for sharing! How's ODB TI vs the Velos to your ear?
Pretty sick
Yes that’s awesome now let’s see a full length video please 😊
In person, how does the Omega compare to the MOB (long and short config)???
The MOB is a single size. The new CAT Street Crack mod has long and short configs, and I have that one on Form 3; so, hopefully I can compare it soon! That being said, it will be a 9mm handgun can for me…unless something changes.
Also, in person, the MOB blows the Omega 9k away from a suppression perspective, but if you weren’t running them side by side, I think you would still be happy with the Omega. It also looks sooooo good.
@@illestdomer2005 sweet, I’ll subscribe and wait for the comparison!
Can you please do some longer videos on these cans
I’m not really great at doing review videos, but if I get a chance to get them outside, I might make a longer video. Check out @rangetoyz - he has some great videos on MP5s and cans!
@@illestdomer2005yeah I’ve seen all his stuff he’s got a great channel
Nice can collection! That Chariots of Fire had me rollin lol
Ty, sir! I couldn’t help myself 😂 Also, just trying to catch up with you!
What do you think about CAT's 10" min barrel restriction? I have a spooky on a 10.3" 5.56 and was hoping to use the ODB on that and an 8" 300 BO I'm building.
@@JTG40cal I would just get an IR temp gun to make sure you don’t exceed the max temp for the Ti or 718 (don’t recall each off the top of my head, but I believe 718 is double Ti). Pew Science tested the ODB on the MK18; so, I don’t think the 10.3” barrel length would be a problem as long as you manage your firing schedule. 8” 300blk, especially with subs, should be perfectly fine. I haven’t mag dumped mine, but I run an 8” barrel and haven’t even come close to the upper limit. If you are looking enough to have a select fire lower or do a lot of rapid fire, you might want to get the Inconel version; otherwise, the Ti seems plenty durable for my use.
@@illestdomer2005 Thanks for the reply! I certainly won't be mag dumping, but with the titanium's barrel length, rate (<30rnds per minute), and operating temp (650F) restrictions...I think I'm gonna go inconcel. Then, I won't have to worry about any of that and still get the AMAZING suppression. Shooting subs, it sounds like a mouse fart 😆
Try the CAT JL. It won’t disappoint
Ya I'm a turd after I took a closer look realized it wasn't a midwest industries handguard although it very similar. Really want a cat can. Just bought the b&t srbs 762 so when I receive that I'll get another can probably a cat lol
Seems super quiet. How did you cut your mkdwest industries handguard? How do you raye this can to others?
This is an awesome 300blk suppressor host. Riflespeed built the upper with the windowed handguard. You could do it yourself if you have machining skills and tools. Mine would be an ugly dremel version though 😂 The lower is an ADM with JP SCS. The SCS is expensive but totally worth it when trying to get the quietest pew. The ODB is of course an awesome 30 cal can. I think it’s technically designed for 7.62x39, but it’s awesome on 300blk as well.
What flash hider would you recommend?
@@NA-sb7xz I went with a Rearden FHD on a 12.5” 5.56 and a LPM Liberty Bell untimed brake on a 300blk.
@@illestdomer2005 I'm between this and the LPM Mach-S. How is the recoil mitigation with the liberty bell?
Does the reardon Mount make any difference than the ars that comes with it?
Cool! I wonder how a binary AR15 trigger would do in there?
I can tell you a super safe mp5 runs faster than a real mp5 machine gun lol
I had a Franklin Armory binary trigger in there, but I moved it to my full size. It’s pretty fun! That said, the single stage can run pretty fast too. Neither is full auto fast, but it’s also a lot less expensive!
Thats not fucking bad. 😮
What setting did you get LRBHO on?
I had to go up to 12 on the 907 plunger. I will probably swap it out and see what I need on the 897 plunger next range visit. Setting 11 on 907 got LRBHO sometimes but had some failures.
I think adjustable gas block is a must with this can.
Couldn't disagree more. Tune the rifle to cycle subsonic reliably. With the Odb being a flow through can supers won't be too crazy. With a higher back pressure can, sure run a rifle speed to quickly gas down for supers or vice versa.
Incredible sound reduction with little back pressure! Wish I had the money to buy one and replace others that would turn into paperweights.
Not trying to be "that" guy but; I would highly recommend not making a habbit of changing suppressors with a round in the chamber... It's a recipe for disaster. Have fun, stay safe!
The Enticer S is a great can. If you didn’t have them side-by-side, I don’t think you would miss anything. DDC is a great company, and the stainless version I have was less than $500. It’s a super high value can.
Actually really good advice. I was just watching this and thought the same thing: I never ejected that live round! 😱 Always a good reminder 🤝
What was the gas block setting without a can?
riflespeed gasblock. they make all different sizes
10
Is that a baffle strike?
@@chadsammarco7269 nope, just the blast baffle on the inside. The end has external flash tines.
Would recommend this suppressor for subs ? Thinking of getting it,
Would be curious to see what it takes when running the CAT ODB.
Well, it doesn’t want to cycle with the ODB. I considered a LMOS BCG and a lighter hammer spring, but I sold this upper to a buddy who has a Trash Panda that fits perfectly.
RIP, Richard Lewis.
So how quiet is the enticer S? They seem similar in the video
I think it’s a little more going on here than just sounding similar. The CAT cans are managing the gas and pushing it down range while being as quiet as a well designed traditional baffle can. They’re expensive but it’s some real big brain stuff going on inside of those cans…
Came back to say thanks for the early look into this can on 300BLK. Definitely seems to line up with the PewScience data. I actually got to go pick my ODB QD Ti and WB QD 718 today after only 23 days. Definitely shocked me. Last 2 were 168 days. Can’t wait to put rounds through these CAT Cans!
Awesome! I’m hoping for similar luck. I am curious to see how the WB does. If I get that one, it will definitely be 718, but I already have a Velos that makes it hard for me to justify.
@@illestdomer2005 can’t have to many cans, lol! Just an excuse to build another rifle. I already have an SCI SIX, but after I saw the PewScience data on the WB, I had to jump on board. A can this small that is exhibiting at ear suppression in the territory of the Velos/FLOW series while still maintaining SCI SIX/RC2 levels of muzzle suppression is crazy. Wild times we are in with this modern suppression tech.
@@Kenposhinobi you lose weight yet Dakota?

Cant wait for mine to get approved.
@@AdrenalineTheory did you get it approved yet?
@@illestdomer2005Yep, love it.
When fully open, was it locking back on the last round with the ODB?
I had to go all the way up to 12 on the Riflespeed with plunger 917 and a JP carbine weight SCS. It locked back on an empty mag, but I would feel more comfortable with a shorter plunger that would give me more gas to play with.
Have you tried rapid firing it for a couple mags? Was looking at this for my next can but was concerned about durability. Not gonna be doing crazy mag dumps but would like to be able to run some drills with it and not worry about it.
I haven’t, but I wouldn’t be worried about doing it either. I believe CAT posted a video of them dumping 6 or so consecutive mags with a titanium WB or ODB, and it definitely showed some…wear, but I can’t see any issues even with a single full mag dump, let alone a few bursts here and there.
Hearsay but I heard if your shooting .300 don't worry about it. Your pressures aren't going to be high enough to warrant a firing schedule
I can’t decide between hub or qd
@@MrFra1ler I went HUB to use Rearden Atlas.
Looks like Agency Arms copied your style of rifle Dynamic gas block lol
Haha, I think Riflespeed just convinced Agency that their idea is great. This is the RS Poseidon upper. When I saw it back in March, I had to have it!
Who makes that upper ?
@@BossHugo84 that’s an @riflespeed Poseidon upper! www.riflespeed.com/300-BLK-Assembled-Uppers_p_22.html
I have a CAT Inconel WB QD in jail for my 12.5 midgas, with RifleSpeed gas block, Sprinco Blue spring and H3 buffer that currently runs a CGS SCI SIX. And I have a Titanium ODB QD in jail for my Aero 8in BLK that runs my old form1 can. Since CATs stuff is higher flow rate and I only run subs,I’m gonna keep my 300 with a regular gas block and just throw in my Bootleg adjustable BCG and maybe mess around with a heavier buffer and spring
I feel like the Riflespeed is an awesome addition to a 300blk rifle where you might run unsuppressed supers and of course suppressed subs and supers. For 5.56, I really just need to tune the gas for my can(s). That said, I do like the Bootleg as an easier drop-in option, and I have seen folks use it with 300blk successfully too. Especially for a shorter barrel, I think it makes a lot of sense to go with a fixed gas block using the ODB. It seems to be much less sensitive to gas differences between supers and subs.
@@illestdomer2005 Are you concerned that in their written documentation that the Ti model shouldn’t be used on barrel lengths shorter than 10”?
@@markrothhaar9454 I haven’t seen that documented, but I don’t have any concerns either. I have a titanium Sig can that lives on a 6.75” 300blk barrel where I use supers and subs. I haven’t had any problems, and CAT has shown mag dumps on their Titanium that far exceed anything I will be doing even if it’s an 8” barrel.
Lmao homosexual

Should’ve waited for the K with a 16” barrel, But hindsight is 20/20
I doubt the K will perform as well, and I’m not a huge K can fan, but yeah, none of those were announced when I bought mine this past summer 🤷♂️
I’m in the same boat but the K can is 150 decibels muzzle average on 16” That’s horrible, especially cause it’s a hard use can and most people run 10-14 inch barrels where it would be even louder. It being a flow can and shorter really reduces its basic function as a suppressor, it should be 500$ not 1200$ lol
@@darthdavid2275 if you want a K can that performs well, I would check out the OCL Polo K, CAT WB, or Cobalt Scrambler.
