Amazing video! I know this is late, but is there a particular way that you would level the character if you were going from 1-20 in a regular game? I figured the four levels of barbarian and rogue might be relatively early, as to acquire your survivability and stealth expertise respectively without progressing too much. Thanks!

I gave my players too much gold at lvl 4 bc of a joke. They were meant to be paid 5+1d100 gold each. But I said if I rolled a 100, I'll give them 1000 each. Then sure enough -- 0 | 00 was rolled. If they don't spend it all in this city festival I'm gonna have them audited by the economics guild, which they ironically drew the ire of when they got a branch leader briefly thrown in jail for illegal betting

Nice collection of items. I'm just starting a campaign as a blood hunter in a cyberpunk setting. I'll be sharing several of these with my DM with broad hints of just how nice it would be to find one. I've had the Periapt of Wound Closure before on a former battle cleric I played and it came in clutch a number of times. I want another one.

The clockwork neckless is not usable to go "ehh change that Natural 1 to a 10". it gives you the rounded down to the statistic average. Its not used as you state. its a gag item. Eyes of Investigation...... how often do your players state that they are inspecting everything by placing their heads 1 ft away from it. Unless you are running a murder mystery its trash. Lockpicking and Disarm trap are not affected by this item (unless the trap is a pitfall or pressure plate... but that exceeds the 1 ft rule)... its crap Eversmoking Bottle - a decent selection for a rouge Gloves of Thievery - 5e has stupidly powerful items (for cheap)... but good for rouges Bracers of Flying Daggers - Auto-return +0 daggers... useable but ultimately weak as thrown weapon bonus damage is STR based Amulet of Health - Ok ... not a rouge item .. but ok Stat Manuals - .... these items typically do not exist.... ever Ghost Tattoo - Ok.... but doesn't that require feats to use? Ioun Stones - Another rare / impossible to find item Infiltrators Key - For your Rouge when he is above LVL 20.... 5e ends at LVL 20 Winged Boots - rare but good choice Slippers of Spider Climbing - ... until you forget that you cant walk up a wall as there is nothing keeping your heel in the sandal. (used to be a cloak in prior editions for a reason) Cloak of Displacement - oddly weaker in 5e than prior versions .... but a good choice Ring of invisibility - good choice Luck Blade - For your Rouge when he is above LVL 20....

I love the idea of Strahd basically following the group about and mocking them. Standing in their camp preventing them from sleeping is hilarous

This is an excellent set of tips. I'll second everything you said... Only caveat is that I found that if you know the module well enough, almost any backstory can be incorporated. There's so many NPCs locations and events, that my party of 8 players all with unique backstories were all able to find something in Barovia that would speak to their character without too much difficulty.

I make my players roll Dream Rolls (just a1d20) and if it’s a nat1, Strahd visits them in a terrifying nightmare and they wake up with 2 levels of exhaustion. Also I will occasionally have vampire spawn or other hungry undead wandering into their camps if nobody mentions they’re going to keep watch. My players are very RP-centric so it’s been a lot of fun leaning into the lore and details of the land (such as grey tasteless food or the fear of The Devil Strahd NPCs may have) for the past few years I’ve been running it!

Just a suggestion for anyone wanting to DM strahd. I bought the legendary campaign module from beatle and grimms. Damn! did it come with so many awesome tools for me as a dm. All the monster cards with visionals for my players.

I am sorry if this is out of line, but is there a way we can copy this but add our own characters name to it and stats? i'm not familiar with D20 beyond on the flavors and setups of how to do this kind of thing. TIA

When I do strahd I have him be seemingly invulnerable at first but it turns out the players have to weaken him like tiamat in tyranny of dragons. I also give him epic level magic to make him ever more terrifying

I know this is a year old but that’s not how the clockwork amulet works. Firstly, it says when you make an attack roll- so your skills with expertise and stuff wouldn’t benefit from this item. Second, it says “forgo” rolling a D20 so you don’t get to replace your roll with a 10…you choose NOT to roll to instead get a 10
