  • @truesight91

Wrestling is important but come on DC... the main thing in MMA is your skill standing up. If you can be good enough standing and have excellent takedown defense, wrestlers won't get too far, they will never be able to strike as good as a elite striker, so unless they take you down and choke you out, that dude is not going to beat JON JONES LOL... Bruce Lee was a great example of this, he was so fast and so powerful, no wrestler could ever get close to him let alone take him down, soon as they shoot it would be a knee or kick to the head and its lights out, and even on the ground he was light-years ahead of the rest. I seen this happen a lot in school, rugby was a big thing growing up in Australia, so most fights would start with someone running to tackle someone else, however, everytime they tried to do that on me they'd get a solid knee to the head or shoulder and often would end then and there. Of course I cannot compare this to pro fighters, I just feel DC uses his career and wrestling as an excuse because he couldn't beat a wrestler all of a sudden that wrestler could beat everyone in MMA, that's 100% BS right there.

I’ve seen this before my grand son is 6 now and I fell his mom my daughter that he has to learn wrestling for a base then start him in BJJ with MMA and keep him in these until he’s at least 18 then he can decide if he wants to keep doing that his father played all sports in high school basketball football baseball he’s 6 foot 4 he’s never bin in a fight before we were at a wedding and some guy thought he was some bad ass my son and law punch this guy that came at him he was lights out one punch and he’s the kind of guy that will help you up after he kicks your ass lol he’s just a good dude but the world is crazy now you see people who know how to fight that know BJJ you see on the news they have stopped stores i’m getting robbed they would just hold the suspect where they know they can’t do any thing when that happens you know your done I’ve seen it happen so many times I’m in my 40s and we trained I am very grandmaster Leroy Epperson he’s like a ninth-degree black belt but when we start it at his school in Baltimore back in 1998 he was the instructor at Kim’s karate and he was telling us that’s nothing but a dance class but that’s like the only karate place pretty much that was known in Baltimore in the 80s and 90s then Leroy you called it the master system where he taught us every thing and you could tell which kids were gonna be really good they just naturally have it my best friend all threw high school he was never in to fighting buddy played basketball baseball and he could dance really good like naturally so he was one of the 4 horseman that’s what Leroy Epperson we had friends that keep signing up and one of our friends he was wrestler all in high school he was so good at BJJ can you put another one of the four horsemen and Master Leroy Epperson like yeah classes every night if you were a white belt when we all started this is how everybody got so good we would take the white belt class then the Black belt class was right after so after 3 years every one that were all in to it and this is before Dana White bought the UFC I was 22 years old in 1998 that’s when we started as soon as we seen the school open up we’re his first new students From taking the White belt class and the black belt class and we were there hrs before class started so we were learning things with other black belts that were there it was like the new hang out but we were learning to fight really good and my brother he always worked on cars body shops he started one it was 17 so from. Turning wrenches screwdrivers and just working with your hands on cars turning wrenches your hands wrist forearms my brother was so strong once my brother what is there for not even a year maybe six months he would BJJ with Black belts they had their black belts but they didn’t have black belts and BJJ but they’ve had to train for years a very long time they were so amazed that only certain people contact my brother and that was only if they got him in a certain position he was so strong from working on cars and learning the basics over the period of a year pretty much these black belts would come in there thinking they were gonna take him out and they couldn’t beat him or tap him out it was so funny that’s what I mean about today there were certain students that were better at other things when it came to being on the ground it’s crazy how are strong my brother was compared to these other guys I wish we had smart phones back then My friend Bobby he had a boxer the guy box that Broadway boxing I forget how long but he worked with my friend Bobby and Bobby told him to come on up because master Leroy he was all about it he found out how much just a boxer can’t do against someone who knows different types of martial arts I think they try to remember correctly they never did any ground fighting or anything it was a stand up my buddy Bobby rock that Boxer and he was training for like two years if that nothing just a little over a year and he took it too that Boxer🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊👊👊👊👊they wore boxing gloves to make a fair

I think the 1 fight advice is good. I'd also recommend immersing in zoomed out strategic context for at least a month at some point. Starcraft 2 (or any Real time Strategy game), Total War, Civilisation etc. And get to a gold/platinum level in 1 RTS. One is just a puppet if they are blind to strategy.

My Afghan mate said this, I think it explains that mindset well. We were talking about J Jones, and I said something about steroids in the UFC. He said "yeah but you need to be that good to be that good, I don't care" So I said 'you take them too then, cheat'? To which he smiled and said "No, not me... I don't need them". He sees the use of steroids in others as an opportunity to face greater challenges... that thought doesn't make him mad, it makes him happy; that's the mindset. That mindset is an art form, and good luck beating it.

  • @samuelsquires423

Yeah thst attitude, commitment, and ability can be applied to a few countries there. Just started school for carpentry with this kid half my age from Afghanistan. Looks like these Dagestan guys. Cauliflower ears. Turns out we'd bath started at the same Muay Thai club. People thought he was experienced, but he'd bever kicked anything. Wtestlung, bjj, boxing. He bought me lunch (as my Muslim mates like doing), and I drive to pick him up to take him to training. In the car he cuts me off asking about some technique snd he said its all in the mind. All of it. Youre aiming to destroy, dominate, be the best, be calm, have fun (pain is his fun). He trains at the gym, then school, then I sparred with him before training (first time I ever sparred), and he clipped me, I clipped him behind the ear, and I'm a 40 year old dude giggling, getting punched in the nose by a 21 year old, and this kud just makes it really fun. In training he did pushups when everyone else drank and puffed. Smiled. "Dis is good". He trained after... Does he want to fight professionally? Doesn't know. He gets good at everything to be the best, and to enjoy the pain along the way. A duck in water is this kid in suffering. Its a normal element, like air. What others would consider to be hellish physical states. It is a superior mindsett. He convinced me 40 is nothing. Hes a liability 😂, but the good sort, where youre forced to achieve, defend, think, fight. I will miss him when he moves on to bigger things but till then I'm driving him to every training 😅 People talk so much about having hardness but forget how easy it is to get through it by having fun, and having that generosity of spirit. True hardness!
