Chasing the sun. Well done. I miss my flying days.
Thank you! As you know, days like that are pretty special.
Hey buddy. Tell her secrets!.
Haha!! 😆
What a view! Get a FFX video sorted John 🎉😊
Will do! I’ll be on that once it’s released. 👍🏼
Goals to fly one someday! Currently working on my Commercial multi add on 😅
That’s awesome! Keep after it because it’s definitely worth it!
My plane now
Yes! Come fly it! 👍🏼
Awesome Video!! I'm not a pilot, just always fascinated with jets. The Citation X is one of my favorites. Very informative video!! Just found your Channel by chance on TH-cam..... Great Job!!!
Thank you so much! I’m so glad that you found the channel. And I definitely appreciate your love of the Citation X. I hope my love for it came through in the video. Lots more to come. It’s just hard to find time to do all of the editing. Again, thanks for checking out the channel!
Nice, i have been wanting to build a bushplane from lego. Something like the Draco or kitfox maybe the dhc-2 with floats. Do you have instructions by chance?
I don’t have instructions sadly. It has been a progressive work in progress. Really like where it’s at right now but we have disassembled it and reassembled it multiple times as we do upgrades. Glad you enjoyed it!
Great Video, John. Being a citation X pilot myself I enjoyed this video. I live surprisingly 30min from your plane based at.
That’s cool! Are you currently on the X? If so, where are you based?
@@johnkluenker Yes, I am PIC on X based at HWD. I also teach at TCY and LVK, and come over frequently to SCK for training/approaches. Are you on linked-In?
That’s awesome! I never actually built my LinkedIn profile but feel free to friend request me on Facebook. Are you on 224CX? I have done a little contract flying for them in the past.
❤❤
Great Video as always! I can barely wait for the FFX Citation X and I'm really looking forward to your videos on it. Loving the new paint😍
Thank you!
Can everybody rent that house for a Holiday on Hawaii ?
Yes. It’s listed as a rental on VRBO.
Definitely one of my most fav jet. I have read some forums that it’s dispatch reliabilty not the best compared to its competitors. Has it been reliable for you ?
Glad to hear that you appreciate the X!! It really depends on how it’s being used. Ours has been very reliable and I have been flying this one serial number now for 19 years. It does well in a small flight department like ours where the same pilots are flying it. We will sometimes go five years or so, without a single unscheduled maintenance visit. The X’s have a lot of quirks and nuisance messages that aren’t necessarily worth grounding the airplane for. You just have to get to know the jet and work with its quirks.
John, greetings. Thank you for the tips and tricks in using the Honeywell FMS. I’m new to this box with a fair amount of experience on other units. A simple question: How to create a user waypoint reference a vor, etc.? Ref/Brg/Dist does not seem to work! What is the magic formula? In other words, NorCal has me cross “30 north of LIN @ fl340”, how is this setup with 6.1? Thanks in advance and keep the videos coming! Kindly, Sean
Hi Sean. Apologies for the late reply! So let’s say that you are 100 miles north of LIN when you receive that clearance. You would tap the LI N Way point on the flight plan page which would move it into the scratch pad. And then put two slashes followed by 30. Then select the LIN waypoint again on the flight plan page and that will push LIN down on the flight plan and insert your way point prior to it. If you inserted the waypoint right after LIN that would place it 30 miles beyond it. By leaving the bearing Blank it assumes that you want the new fix to be along your route. And once it’s in the flight plan, I add the crossing altitude then. You can however, do it as one fix I believe, but I don’t usually do it that way just to make sure I insert it properly. It would look like this in the scratch pad: LIN//30.
Found your channel while looking for other C750 how-to videos. Scheduled for Initial next week. This is so valuable. Thank you.
That’s awesome. Thank you for the comment! Glad the video could be helpful for you. How is initial going?
@@johnkluenkerthanks for asking! School is going very smoothly . I grow to like it more each day. To this day my favorite system is hydraulics. And the most difficult limitations to memorize is the list for the PAC HIGH. Ha!
@jonathantack Haha I’m with you 100% on that!
Wonderful insight - just wondering if the controls have the traditional 'harmony' to them, or if the hydraulics make all three surfaces feel the same?
Thank you! I feel that the controls have great balance and harmony to them.
John, i'm a commercial pilot here in Brazil and flying the Citation X was always a dream for me! Thanks for sharing you experience with us!
You’re welcome. Thank you for watching! I hope you get the chance to fly the X someday. 👍🏼
Beautiful family, beautiful plane. Thanks for the positive spin on corporate flying…
You’re welcome! Glad you enjoyed the video. We definitely are having a great time with our jobs and I’ve had this one gig for now for 18 years!
Thank you for another fantastic video with lots of great info, John. You’re a wonderful pilot & I’m so grateful that I’ve gotten the opportunity to fly the X with you! Still working on perfecting my landings. I also like to avoid the shimmy by “purposely” dodging the centerline lights 😂
Thank you, KK! I had a great time flying that trip with you as well. Hopefully we can do it again sometime soon. Still based in Colorado? Hopefully we can do another Florida trip this winter! 🥶 ➡️☀️🏝️
Awesome info and insight! Great for us non pilots in understanding some of the nuances.
Thank you so much! I’m glad that you appreciated the video. Do you use a PC flight simulator like X-Plane or MSFS, by chance?
I'm a X driver, also share the same sweet spot you have for the X. Beautifully designed from the start.
Awesome! Another one of the lucky ones. Where are you based? Part 91 or 135? 🛩️ ❤️
@ We are part 91 out of Little Rock, Arkansas. Serial number 57
Another fantastic video. Great information and superb handling of the controls on landing.
Thanks, George! With your experience, you would have no issues flying the X. Hope are having a merry Christmas and are enjoying the Netflix fireplace! 🎄
Thank you John for this video
You’re welcome! I’m glad that you appreciated it.
Probably, in most ways, the ultimate private jet! A firm favorite of all who love aviation and the spirit of excellence❤❤
Absolutely!! Nice to see another Citation X fan here! 👏🏻 👏🏻
Cannot WAIT for the FlightFX Citation X. I hope that you are able to keep giving them input to help hone the flight model after release!
Thank you! Yes, it’s going to be awesome. I hope they will continue to work on it and update it after the fact. I’m sure they will as they always make a fantastically detailed product.
Interesting technique on flaps 5 to get slowed down at 10k feet, makes sense I just haven’t seen that technique. I’ve always seen the throttles to idle and use the speed brakes to keep the speed under control. Most don’t go flaps 5 until around 200kts as we turn to final (or before if necessary). Thanks for the video!
Thank you! Yes that works too as the speed brakes are effective. If left high the combination of speed brakes, flaps, and gear will get you down quickly! I should’ve been more clear about not being timid about using the speed brakes to get down! 🛩️ 💨
Great video! What type of camera do you use in the cockpit?
Thanks! GoPro 11 Black
I didn’t think you were allowed to use the ForeFlight call sign when going greater than 50 miles offshore. Has that changed?
We have approval to use it now for oceanic crossings. The challenge is getting the oceanic controllers on HF to understand what we are saying. We filed it as a call sign and also make a note of it in the comments section.
I didn’t think you were allowed to use the ForeFlight call sign when going greater then 50 miles offshore. Has that changed?
We were able to use it for a while with approval but not anymore. Back to good old N1BS!
Very interesting.
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
I flew the B757 for 19 years, retired now, and many of the things you said were the way we operated that aircraft ("You can't go down and slow down at the same time" - Deploy the speedbrakes as soon as the main wheels touch - Push the control yoke forward as you deploy max reverse, otherwise the nose WILL pitch up quite dramatically. Like your admiration for the Cessna I loved the 75 and thought it was probably the best Boeing ever. I must try the Citation when it comes out for MSFS, and look forward to any further tips you have.
Wow thanks for the awesome comment. Sorry for just now seeing it. I too have always loved the B757 but never had the opportunity to fly it. Everyone I know that has flown the 757 seems to feel the same way that you do. So glad that you appreciated the video and I’m honored that you validated some of my tips. It means a lot coming from someone with your experience. Congratulations on such an amazing aviation career!
Hello, John Please continue to make these insights into the Citation X. It is without doubt, a beautiful airplane and I to will buy Flightfx X on release day. Kind Regards Paul
Will do! Thanks for the comment. FlightFX is working really hard to make a great virtual Citation X and I’m looking forward to it!
Im only had flown this plane on Xplane12 pc simulator, and its a joyful plane.Im gonna try all this knowledge when I have the chance. Thanks.
Thank you for every video. I‘m looking forward to the X from FlightFX too! And I think the most people who buys the Jet for MSFS will operate it like „as real as it gets“. Your videos helping us to understand the airplane!👍
Thank you so much! Glad to hear that you appreciated the video! 👍🏼
Great presentation John, I’m impressed! Many of the techniques you described are similar to the Challenger (the metal one😂) and the Global. Merry Christmas, and all the best to you and yours!
She may be an older bird, but she is still fun to fly. I’ll be sad when they start becoming obsolete and start leaving our company. Until then, I’ll keep flying it with a smile in my face. 😁
Absolutely!!
Great video of some procedures and insights of the C750. I have a question too if you don't mind. When I have flown the Citation X in the sim X-Plane 12 I put as an example .90 mach as cruise speed in the FMS (in the VNAV Page I believe) and I fly at FL450, but in the cruise detent it only reaches .889 mach. At that time I found that weird so I used the CLB detent and I reached .907 or .908 mach. You mentioned that the N1% for the CRZ detent is based off the maximum it can take at x altitude and x temperature. But is the VNAV speeds you put in the FMS for climb/cruise not taken into account into those N1 calculations? if not, is there a reason for you to put a specific .x mach as cruise speed in the FMS?
I used simbreif C750 profile ,I always try to get match M number as the flight log ,or if temperaure is no the same ,TAS. It works perfect fuel wise and timing.
No mistaking the X on the ramp. It makes you wonder how a Phenom 100 even gets off the ground.
That’s is a spectacular brief / debrief on the TEN! Thanks for posting, very much appreciated.
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
I just got a job on a X and I head for initial next month, thanks for the video!
That’s awesome! I hope the video helps. Are you going to FlightSafety or CAE? And congratulations on the X job! You will love the airplane!
@ Thanks! I’m excited to get my hands on it. I’ve watched most of your videos and they’ve all been helpful, thanks for putting out some quality content on this great machine. I’m going to flightsafety.
Grest video, looking forward to putting all these tips in practice on the flight fx
Thank you!
Found your channel while searching for and researching the X for an acquisition for a Family member! Always enjoyable and full of information! Love this jet! Looks like they now want to look more at a Challenger 604 for more cabin space… anyway amazing job!! Tks
Well, I’m glad you found the channel! A 604 is a great option. Usually people sell the Citation X and end up going with a challenger for that exact reason. So glad to hear that you enjoyed the video. Enjoy your flying!
I have one additional question if you don’t mind… a bit concerned with the Proline 4 being an obsolete flight system… in your opinion will this be an issue supporting over say a five year ownership window? Should we only consider an aircraft that has been already upgraded to the Proline Fusion? What’s your take for your aircraft? Curious as it’s an expensive move to install a Fusion system! Thanks in advance.
Sorry for the late response. I don’t get notifications of responses to responses so I occasionally miss them. I’m not very familiar with the Proline 4 versus Fusion. However, there seems to be no major issues with the Honeywell system in the X. At this point, it has been upgraded adequately to be a very stable avionics platform that doesn’t require much support. The main issues we have are issues with the Elite upgrade and getting the Jeppesen charts to load to the screens. Of course, we also have these on our iPads so it’s not a huge deal.
@ thanks for the response!! Happy flying!
Hi John! Thanks for the great video, excited to see the FlightFX C750 soon! Hope you and yours are having a wonderful holiday season! I had a couple questions if you don't mind. Are the higher FLs (above 410) really that much smoother? I know there's other operational reasons to be up there (routing, fuel burn), but a common thing I hear about biz jets is the smoother ride above commercial traffic stuck in the 30s. In your opinion, what would big the biggest gripe C750 pilots would have about the plane? Thanks for your time!
Thank you so much! Don’t mind the questions at all. I find that the higher flight levels are indeed smoother. We are typically above the weather, especially if we are up at 45,000 or 47,000 feet. Glad you enjoyed the video and I hope you enjoy the FlightFX 750 when it comes out!
Aloha and mahalo for coming to Kona. Great video. Next time stay up at my coffee farm :)
Ha ha! Thanks so much for the invite! That would be awesome. I appreciate you checking out the video. I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I was the one the Marshalled you in! Lol didn't know y'all were filming till afterwards, Signature appreciate your business and was a pleasure having y'all with us during your stay!
That’s so awesome! You did a great job marshaling us in, BTW. Looking forward to the next time! Thanks for watching! 🛩️ ❤️
Well … I work at signature in Kona … I remember bravo Sierra
Nice!!
I have just been getting into aviation over the last couple years but it’s quickly becoming a passion. This video was incredible and I’m glad you made this one with less music as to hear the pilot/control jargon. Two buddies having a great time flying an impressive aircraft was a good vibe video. Hopefully you guys had a great time and have since had other adventures. This is what life’s all about
Thank you so much for the comment! Still working on some more videos so please stay tuned. So glad that you enjoyed it and thanks again!
teach me how to fly the X. ;)
Ha ha! Stay tuned for some more tips and tricks! Working on a video right now.
another great adventure
Thank you!!
thanks that was a lot of fun to watch😎
You’re welcome! Glad that you enjoyed it. 🙂
Hey man I love your content. I’m a brand new Citation X pilot and I was wondering if you could make a video on a thorough exterior pre flight video?
