Very nice. I like the way you use the reflection of the glass building to film. It seems like a nice place, not very busy, not many people, was it the weekend?
Currently there is a severe heatwave with temps above 107, so there is a heat warning (almost no one is out until sundown).
@@SquidProQuo80 Thanks, I’m in Australia 🥶 it’s winter 🥶
Yes it was a Sunday morning before noon and from several different area around the downtown area. Sunday mornings are usually pretty quiet around the downtown area. Plus like the other viewer said it has been very hot here the last two weeks so morning is the best time to get out. It was 103 at noon on Wednesday this last week.
Beautiful, nicely done! Thanks for this, I moved here a year ago and still haven't even made it to the Riverwalk yet 😂

Thanks Dan, that was nice and relaxing 😎 I never know if I’m gonna get a history video or just outright spectacular scenery. Your drone skills are so good now. Sorry to see your left knee is hurting. 🩹
@@NGC-catseye there is definitely a learning curve to piloting and creating videos. Slow and smooth course corrections are the key. I tore the meniscus again right before our trip to Indiana so gonna need surgery to fix it. It doesn’t hurt but the knee tends to bend back too much if I take too long of steps which doesn’t feel good. As Indiana Jones once said, “It’s not like years, it’s the mileage. Thanks for watching 😃

Every bar needs a gimmick to draw the crowds 🤠 🍺 In Europe during the Middle Ages they miraculously found items to draw the crowds to the churchs. I think you are having way too much fun with the drone, but the history lesson balances it.
ive always loved the hill country
the lake is fine the way it is people..all we need is lots of rain possibly a year worth of rain..i spent mybvb youth years there having fun..
A great way to fix the water level issue would be to fix the canals that draw water from it. They're all soil ditches and lose 90% of the water before it even hits farmer land... Need state money for that tho since farmers don't give a rat's ass as they have water rights
@@charleskummerer the BMA which has control of the water rights and from what I understand hasn’t been transparent about where and how they spend the money. I do know they did some gate repairs 10-15 years ago. The canals where supposedly going to be upgraded but that has never happened. You are correct, those canals are extremely wasteful. The is a FB group Friends of Medina Lake I think is the name and if you are interested you can find out more information about the lake and BMA there. Thanks for watching.

Both of my grandfathers worked on this damm, one from Sabinal, the other from Rio Medina, one Mexican, one German. My dad later worked for a Mr. Zeller who I understand was Pres. of a San Antonio fishing club that was instrumental of the construction of this damm. The damm's English owners sold water to farmers along a canal, part of that is still near Castroville. Among many, I have had some good times in boats and swimming in the wonderful water it once held.
Excellent content, good music - keep this up and this channel will grow! Howdy from the north side of SA.

If people are Still Living there then it's Not a ghost town. We're pronounced Texan (Taken from the name of the First encountered native coastal tribe known as Tajas meaning Friend.) not tex"I"an this is a sore spot for All native Texans, I am a direct lineal descendant of EE Stuart part of the original group brought to Texas by Stephen F Austin, my grandfather's grandfather's EE Stewart who also was one of the original Texas Masons and original Texas Rangers he also fought at the battle of San Jacinto so Please for those of Us True Native Texans Put forth an effort to pronounce it correctly and Thank You!! 🤠👍
@@worldtraveler930 thanks for watching. The term "Texian" comes from the first three letters of the anglicized Caddo Indian word tajas, which means "friend". The Mexican government encouraged the formation of regional militias to protect the area from the Apaches and the Comanches, and they welcomed Anglo-American settlers, who were called "Texians". The term "Texian" was also used by early colonists and leaders in the Texas Revolution, including those who were influential during the Civil War. After Texas became a state in 1845, the term "Texian" fell out of popular use and was replaced by "Texan". However, some people who lived through the revolution and republic continued to use the term "Texian" into the 20th century, and some descendants of early Texas settlers still use it today to connect with their heritage.
First off I Now realize that I misspelled tajas, as I was taught in Texas history the word refers to the Gulf Costa tribe that other tribes used to refer to Friends. Now as for the Original settlers utilizing the Spanish "I" form of the word I have been Preached at from my Grandpa Stewart that his Grandfather EE Stuart Utterly Hated the Spanish "I" use and your Not going to find a better example of an Original settler that one brought to Texas by Our founding father Stephen F. Austin.

Great video been coming to this lake since i was a kid

As of today medina lake is a little creek. Very low.
Nicely done
I used to go to Medina lake right where you are flying and rent a 14 ft. Lone Star boat. I'd bring my own outboard motor and go fishing by the dam. It's really low! I'm surprised at how low the water level is.
Great flying. Well done on the video.
My grandfather Ebben Holt supplied mules for construction of the dam. One task he was given was to relocate the Morman Colony cemetery. He did and those headstones are in the Pipe Creek cemetery about 6 miles east of the colony site on Fm 1283. But not known is that he only moved the headstones and did not dig up the graves themselves. "Those graves were consecrated and I was not about to touch them," he said. Not being a member of the LDS Church I've often wondered how he knew that. Perhaps he knew some of the descendants who remained in the area. There were also another 500 black workers there. There's a black cemetery in Bandera that my cousin Carl Holt Jr was was working to have restored in the late 1990's. Sadly he's no longer with us but restoration continued. Status unknown to me at this point. In your video which was excellent by the way but there was no footage of the spillway on the opposite side. The flood in 2002 was about two feet from going over the top. Despite scare tactics from a neighboring county there was no danger to the dam. They now (SAWS) have the water rights but have never been able to pump a drop of water. They did repair the floodgates however. Also this Dam was the 3rd largest concrete constructed dam in North America when it was completed. Privately financed and built. The same year of the flood, 2002 also saw the Guadelupe River flood and Canyon Lake dam had a huge gorge carved out below its spillway. Thankfully rains stopped and when reviewing pictured and film it's painfully obvious to many that it was getting very close. That dam is not concrete but what they call an earthen dam (dirt). An Uncle of mine, an engineer was hired to work on it. He hated it. "Doomed to fail, not if but when." Love to see you film that dam and the new gorge which exposed dinosaur tracks. Peace...
Where did they buried the Mexican workers
Where are the dinosaur 🦕 tracks 👣
@albertdeleon6272 That cemetery is not far from the dam. I'll try and get exact location. At least 19 are buried in the concrete of the dam. Don't know what nationality and that figure is updated I believe.
@albertdeleon6272 Dinosaur tracks I know of are in two locations. One upstream of the lake a mile or so above Bandera but access needs to be made somewhere else as it's private property. The other is 12 miles from Bandera in Tarpley on a creek I won't name as it's also on private property and there is no legal access. Newly discovered tracks are below Canyon Lake Dam on the Guadelupe River in Canyon Lake Gorge Natural Area. That's the gorge that was created in 3 days during the 2002 flood. That a must see.
Spent a lot of time hiking, camping and fishing Medina lake in my youth. Wonderful memories. This is some great camera work.
What? What did you say?I can’t understand you!somebody is playing their music really loud!!!!
Absolutely HATE when creators cover their videos with music.
You are good at editing and providing a good backstory to this area. Enjoyed your this one too. Been flying for years, but I'm just getting started posting my drone videos and have several things to learn. I have yet to narrate during my videos like you do. You are good at it. Keep it going :-)
I remember when you could drive across it
Be careful with that drone, it's illegal to fly a drone over a government facility like water, wastewater, and electric production facilities. End up with some new bracelets.
It's not a govt. facility.
Incorrect.
Wrong there dummy. FAA controls the airspace. If whatever facility has not done their paperwork with the FAA they can’t say anything. So go do your homework before you open your flapper.

I've spent lots of time there. It is a true gem when there is water in it but never a good fishing lake "comparatively". I haven't seen it that low in a very long time. Hopefully we get some better rains this year. There is some very cool spots past the spillway. Its supposed to be a restricted area but many folks wander back there and enjoy it.
