My father decides that he wants a "new" boat. Specifically, a 1997 Catalina 28 MkII. Unfortunately, the best example that he can find on the West Coast is in Santa Cruz, CA, 400 miles north of his homeport in Oceanside, CA. The Outer Banks 130 (OBX130) is a biennial event in which small craft sailors gather on the Outer Banks of North Carolina with the goal of sailing up to 130 miles in 4-5 days. Depending on winds & weather, the actual course, anchorages, and mileage may vary greatly. This year, I participated with my Hobie Adventure Island, a 16 foot, multihull, sailing kayak. A good time was had by all. Enjoy
