Orangewood Guitars, is it worth the risk? My take.

Orangewood Oliver...my opinion.. This was my first video ever.. more to come.. please hit the like button if you enjoyed this video.
Your excitement about it makes me intrigued .
i’m saving up for the mahogany mason live, i’ve been playing a $200 guitar for the past 2 years and i think i’m ready to bite the bullet and spend the money on the orangewood
I wonder about the hardware being inside the guitar soundhole to adjust if you're playing it with an amp. Some like the Taylor or Martins have it inside and it seemed very awkward to adjust.
No risk involved. You can send it back for 30 days. I have three wouldn't trade any. No one's been able to tell my echo from my Martin blindfolded.
I bought an Orangewood Rey mahogany for my grandson, I was pleased and surprised to see what a fine little guitar it is.
Thumbs up for the doggie commentary.
What risk ? Bought mine thru Amazon prime 30 day no questions asked return. No problem great guitar.
Indonesia not China
Not mine
I have two Orangewoods. One was made in China, one was made in Indonesia.
Great video! Love the way your dog joins in the fun while you play the guitar...Too cute! I've been playing the guitar for 63 years. (Started to play at the age of 5). I can honestly say the Orangewood guitars ROCKS! They rival my expensive Westwood. Both in sound and action. Definitely worth the price. (Especially for the beginner just learning to play the guitar). Two thumbs up and subscribed to your channel. A good tip is to gently stretch the strings out with your thumb. Tune the guitar. Repeat this process 3 or 4 times. This will keep your guitar (with it's new strings), in tune longer.
Great video, simply because you played it without a lot of expensive mics or edited sound. This is the way all videos of acoustic guitars should be recorded. And because I now know how the Oliver truly sounds, I will order one.
Would Love to hear how it sounded...
Yeah but... California??
I have a mason live terrified otw…..should have done a little playing so we could hear the guitar….
is your camers set up in a closet looking thru a door?
I personally really respect and enjoy playing orangewood guitars, they’re overall a very decent guitar and great for the price range; however, I would recommend doing a review on my top budget acoustic guitar. So far I don’t see anything that can beat it. The Yamaha FG800 and the step up Yamaha FGX800C it’s electronic big brother. Best guitars for the value hands down in my opinion.
Every new guitar must be professionally set up by a good guitar tech first then judge the guitar. Whether it is a low-end cheap guitar or a high-end expensive guitar, a professional set up will make a huge difference in playability and sound. I bought the cheapy Orangewood Rey. It was okay upon arrival, but not great. I had it professionally set up and had phosphorous bronze medium light strings installed on it and now I LOVE THE GUITAR. It was definitely a good purchase.
I’m a newer player and I bought the Oliver for myself to play. I love it sm
a review without even playing.....
those guys who cut open guitars did this one, and said too thick bracing, glue was wrong and THAT WAS WHY THE SOUND WAS SO DEAD!
It is a little less resonant than a $3000.00 guitar. It's also a fraction of the price. It sounds amazing plugged in. Some say the same about Takamine guitars also.
I paid less than $200 for this guitar. It's THE BOMB FOR UNDER $200. Promise!
Just a suggestion. Maybe you should spend a minute of 2 actually playing the guitar. A strum or two is worth a thousand words. I bought 2 Orangewood guitars (Echo and Oliver) and they are both nice for the money. The problem is that many people are comparing them to Martins and Taylors which to me is nonsense.
As I explained. I don't have equipment good enough to record good quality sound. I'm not a youtube guy. Just wanted to let people know about these guitars. I took a chance on Orangewood...and it was worth it. Trying to share my experience.
$200 bucks...? I lose more than that every year in my sofa. Try and build one yourself for 200 bucks.
2 say delivery this video is 🐂
Orangewood look like a scam
Based on what?
This review is so Sus lol
My landlord thought it was me clearing my throat and threatened eviction.
I thought they come from Indonesia?
You said it's a good value. Is it? 12-month warranty. If you need to ever reset the neck, and/or repair a crack it might not be a good value. For a cheap solid top, <$500 guitar, it's probably not a bad guitar to try.
how is the action on this guitar? i want to get one for myself but my only hesitation is action, my current guitar is way too high, and i dont want to get into the same problem with a new guitar
Mine was set up perfectly. It's one of the things they brag about. Professional setup

Finally someone who is reviewing Orangewood that didn’t get the for free or has a promo code to advertise!!!
Ha ha. Thanks. I didn't get 1 dime for making the videos. As you can clearly see, I had never made youtube videos before these two. They are bad but they are honest. I still own both of the Orangewoods and still play them regularly. Own 3 Taylor's, a PRS, an Alvarez, a Washburn and a few other guitars. These play and sound great for the money!
@@MichaelTaylor-ff6lw thank you! You convinced me to purchase an Orangewood as my first guitar! I'm excited!
You are nuts.. You can get acoustics that are way better than that for twice the price. At $1000, theres many companies that makes all solid wood guitars that would completely eat this one. (and look way better)
Please share your knowledge. What brands are you referring to? I would love to check them out also.
This guitar was less than $500. If I remember correctly it was $465. Dual pickup system Gold tuners Abalone rosette Cutaway Solid top Gig bag Professional setup out if the box I still believe this is one of the best ...if not the best valued guitar out there. Thanks for your input.
I would like to look into these brands. Could you name a few that are all solid with a pickup, tuner and gig bag for $1000
Theres many guitars at every Orangewood priceranges that can compete with them.. This company is so overated.. Fender, Yamaha, Epiphones and Harley benton all make guitars that are just as good or better for the same price ranges. They make their guitars in china also. People dont fall for that gimmick, try a guitar before buying it.. This is only hype.. The whole set up thing is a gimmick.. Any guitar will need a saddle adjustement.. Guitars comes with high sadlle so that you can choose if you want a super low action or keep it high.
Most guitars are made by the same handful of manufacturers. Many companies make multiple brands. Please send me a make and model to compare to the orangewood. I'm not doubting you. Just would like to check them out. Keep in mind...Orangewood has had a price increase since this video was made.
I can't speak to the models in this video, but I recently purchased an Orangewood Hudson (all-solid dread) and compared it to my other acoustics: Seagull S6, Yamaha FG800, Guild F40P, Eastman E1D, Martin D10E. In terms of tone (which I compared both while playing and recorded), Orangewood blew the Seagull and Yamaha out of the water and was slightly better than the Eastman (which had too much low end and was muddy) and the Martin. Only the Guild was noticeably better. So I plan to sell the Seagull and Yamaha in favor of the Orangewood Hudson. Based on this experience, I'm very impressed with their midrange offerings
What are the first letters of the mason serial number?
My Mason live limited startes with CD. My Oliver mahogany starts with PO
Hey Michael, I own an Oliver Jr and a Echo Torrefied Live and a couple of Martins and I just bought a Cort Gold A6. I believe comparing the Echo and the Cort closely that Cort makes Orangewood guitars. I contacted Orangewood and they said they could not give out specific info on who makes there guitars but they did not say no they were not. Cort has factories in China and Indonesia. Cort make a lot of guitars for other companies and the are one of the top manufacturers. I am very happy with the Orangewood guitars. It seems hat the Cort I have is very similar to the Mason torrefied spruce Live even the electronics are the same. The only differences are the Cort is a little fancier and it is all solid wood and a little more expensive. Just my thoughts, Happy Playing
I believe that. I know that there are a handful of companies that make something like 90% of guitars under $1000.00. Thanks for the imput. Im going to check out Cort guitars.
@@MichaelTaylor-ff6lw You never answered my question about what does the serial number start with Cort starts there guitars with C. My Echo starts with CD.
@@richforestall1459 Im sorry sir. I will look when I get home and get back to you.
I just received my Oliver Jr (Mini "Hog) today and I echo your positives 100%.
Your dog and the end😆 🤣 😂
Maybe I missed it . Did he even play the effing thing!
I did not. I do not have the equipment worthy of recording
Hey man, thanks for the very detailed video on Orangewood's guitars! Just leaving some feedback here no hate, I believe it's much better to post videos in landscape instead of portrait on TH-cam, as they will translate well on all devices better and not just phones. Also the "PowerDirector" watermark makes the video look less professional, so I would recommend using an app that avoids that, and there are some apps that even do this for free on phones, such as InShot, Adobe Premiere Rush, or Splice. I have used them all and they are very good editing apps for free, I highly recommend those :)
Thanks for the advise. I'm not tech savvy. Jusy wanted to share my great experience with Orangewood guitars. I'll take your advise. Thanks!
I got a Rey spruce about a year ago to use as a cheap camping guitar. I'm a semi-professional musician and own a lot of expensive guitars and wanted a guitar I could use that if it got scratched or dinged I wouldn't freak out. The quality of this guitar is really good for something costing $120. The gig bag is also good quality. It came out of the box with very good action. The tuners are excellent. It obviously doesn't sound as good as my $3,000+ dollar guitars but is very acceptable. The first guitar I received was cracked due to shipping abuse - not Orangewood's fault. Orangewood replaced the guitar within a week at no charge and payed the shipping back. Very impressive customer service. I'd highly recommend Organgewood guitars.
Great video. In case you didn't know, the screen will upload full size instead of having the black bars if you record the phone on its side.
Thanks for the info, good job! I'm looking at the Oliver Jr, as I wanted a smaller parlor guitar.
They are actually manufactured in Indonesia not China
Actually I have one made in each. My Oliver was made in Indonesia and my Mason was made in China.
@@MichaelTaylor-ff6lw oh I didn't know they were made there to
Is this still the case?
@@matjj676 idk
My first acoustic was an Orangewood, I bought it about two or three years back and it's a great acoustic. Not gonna find much better for the price, if you are thinking of getting one, do it. A nice thing I like about cheaper guitars in general is that they don't have to be babied like other more expensive instruments would be.
from the beginning to the dog's approval....hands down best video ever.
China? Nope. No politics...just NO to China.
Says you, probably posting using a phone or keyboard/computer with Chinese parts in it.
I have a Orangewood Oliver M. I absolutely love it!
I've been looking at buying the Sage Live but my hesitation is if I take it to a local shop to get work done on it, I'd feel like an d*ck for not buying from them.
That's understandable. I don't have a mom and pop place around here that's reputable. Just guitar center.
@@MichaelTaylor-ff6lw Guitar center? Haha hahahaha hahahaha hahahaha hahahaha hahahaha hahahaha hahahaha hahahaha hahahaha hahahaha hahahaha hahahaha
I'll just take my Martin and Gibson out of the cases today and smile. Guitars like these will not go up in value decent just not americana.
Its about playing the guitar and enjoying dingus
Great video, I'm really interested in an Orange Wood , I currently have a Yamaha 800& I paid more for that & a nice Yamaha gig bag than what an Oliver costs. & quite frankly, the Oliver looks like a better deal. Ty for the information.
I love my Oliver. Extremely hard to beat for the money... And holy hell, I think they're BEAUTIFUL. I haven't had a better looking guitar at this price, but I'm a mahogany fanboy, so I'm there's a bias... I just love mahogany wood on almost anything.
How is this one compared to a Fender CC 60S, a Yamaha FS830 or a Taylor GS Mini ?
I have a CD60s and it is a great beginner guitar. For its price, it did well. However, I recently purchased a Sage from Orangewood. Not because Fender was bad, but because I wanted that next tier.
