Remember Anne Lorne Gillies singing this when I was a kid and I just loved it.
I have not heard this group before but it is the best singer's of the north east doric that I have heard well done from a Turra quine in Canada
Perfect Voice and Tempo, bravo
who ia listening this song just to clear the quiz
A most excellent rendition. Perhaps my favorite.
Man, this footage and sound is priceless. Living in Australia, much Scottish culture here has been all but forgotten about along with many English, Irish and Welsh music and tradition (Okay, maybe not Bonnie Tyler, but you get my point). It breaks my heart just a little. Modern folk has lost its way in my eyes.
Yes , I have found a whole series on YT. Just feel lucky to have been around in those times and our band "Cartwheel" along with "Scuppered" and " New Horizons" still meet several times a year at the Norfolk Arms just outside Sheffield. Keep Rockin!🙃
Fabulous . . . as always.
Lovely to see this again after so many years. Do you have the theme tune from this programme?
Do you have a video of the theme tune of this programme?
One of the best folk bands in Scotland. RIP Nick and Derek.
I remember watching this on TV as a 14 year old. Lovely to see it again.
A fine song written by the Big man in the band Happy memories of the folkclub days.
Like these folk singing ....good strong voices with no pretensions ....remember the ballad revival days in Dublin in the 1960s when at UCD....GREAT TIMES!
Strong singing in unison from three singers of Harmony Extrordinaire.
Good song great harmony and happy memories
Sung in unison for a change. Just simply great singing but sad that Derek and Nick are away. They will always be in our hearts.
Bluddy Dundee the butcher o the covenanters fuck him and the nationalist 🇬🇧 xx
Nice one. Have you and Tommy Scott VHS?
Cool
Do a search on Dow and Dove. The name Dow is a Sept, or allied family, of both Clan Davidson and Clan Buchanan. While Clan Davidson lists only Dow as a Sept, Clan Buchanan lists Dow, Dove, and McCalman. www.genealogy.com/forum/surnames/topics/dow/406/ www.johngrenham.com/findasurname.php?surname=Coleman www.etymonline.com/word/scot en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clann_Cholmáin
WOW, wished i had been there, too - just amazing !
Ah, the Gadie. I remember visiting Clatt as a child during the 1960s and splashing about in it at the old sawmill. More of a burn than a river but filled with happy memories.
What a great song. Even without that polka beat!
again please..
where the Gaddie rins...
I've been keeping an eye out for this song, thanks for uploading!
My Uncle was a career Marine. A pilot he knew was shot in the head in a helicopter assault in Vietnam. Despite losing an eye, and sustaining incredible damage to the aircraft, he successfully got it airborne and brought it and the wounded, including himself, to a safe airfield. After surgery and a glass eye he was retained because of his skill and bravery. Friends would always alert him to any new lovely barmaid in the base town.He would order a bottle of Budweiser and give the gal a $20 bill. While she maid change he would pop his glass eye out and place it atop the beer bottle. When she'd return he'd bellow "Here's Looking At You Sweetheart! I've Kept An Eye Out For Ya". The reactions of these poor young gal's became the stuff of legends.
Appropriatly enough, I'm a MacFarlane that married a Suzie!
Wish i could get the whole thing it was a great TV series :)
Great/- Thanks for putting this Tune up.
I remember this when it was on TV. Are there any more of these songs from this programme?

Great to see this clip, with Nick Keir in his youth, not long after joining the McCalmans in the early 80s. RIP Nick.
