    A Large propane torch works better then cardboard, use to do cardboard direct frame with a torch is more efficient and burns faster.

    Great video! Yeah, people really don't understand how much time is involved, but it's worth it! I just looked and we've had our EZ Boiler for coming up on 8 years now. Our home is a similar size to yours and we're probably going through just as much wood as well. Keep up the good work and congrats on the 1.5k subs! Couple ideas on videos could be changing out the anode rod and when/how to flush the tank. Probably a few more maintenance tasks that people just don't think about to keep their boilers going long and strong!

    My boiler is an older Central Boiler Classic and I burn upwards of 12 cords. Sometimes I buy my wood or get it from friends who cut down their trees. So, I have to haul it, cut it, split it, stack it, and feed it to the boiler twice a day, once in the morning and again at night from mid-November to early April. I have been doing this for 3 years now. And you are right about time. It takes a lot of time to do all this year after year. If I were younger with the kids at home then I would probably not do it and instead do propane or oil. Natural gas is best but we don't have that where I now live. Since I am retired and have free time, and I see this as a hobby, then it's a good thing to have an outdoor wood boiler. It is cheaper than other ways to heat your home. But yes, think about your "time" if you are contemplating on getting one.

    How many cords of wood are you going through? I'd be interested in the cost comparison between purchasing a cord of wood vs the cost of a months worth of propane. Two or three fills a day in that lathe fire box... I'd say you are looking at a cord of wood a week or two... if I get a 15 cord load of birch full length for $1800 delivered... that would be roughly 3.75 or 4 months worth of heat.

    • @EZBoilerUser
      @EZBoilerUser 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I average about 2 full cords of wood/month in the winter. The most I’ve ever used in a single winter is 15 cords. I can get 20 cord of hardwood for $1900. I was paying around $2500-3000/year in propane when it was less than $2/gallon. Last I checked it was $2.60/gallon. I assume I’d be paying around $4,000-5000/year in propane now. This machine has paid for itself over the last 3-4 years and now I’m saving money with it. Granted, the machine was cheaper when I bought it. But so was propane. There is talk of them plumbing natural gas down my road. If that happens I will more than likely ditch the boiler. It’s a lot of work but when you don’t have money that’s what it costs lol. Thanks for watching.

      @EZBoilerUser I'm in interior Alaska, so our winters are bitter cold for long periods of time. Currently, there is an EZ boiler in my area for $2500, made in 2007. I want an autostoker coal boiler because coal is readily available in my area for cheap.

      @@EZBoilerUser yeah so do I, so with those the beauty of it is like hot water on demand. So when you’re not using any hot water turn off the circulating pump and the water will just sit in the boiler and not lose very much heat at all. It’s kinda a pain for us going out all the time but it saves a pile of wood. Last summer we used 1 full cord for the entire hot water season. Take care

    Been thinking to run it all summer for hotwater. How many cords a month does that run?

    • @EZBoilerUser
      @EZBoilerUser 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Less than a cord, probably. I fire it up when I need the water and then shut it down after. It usually stays warm for a day, especially in these temps maybe longer. So I’m only running it really every other day for half the day. I fire it up when I get home from work around 3pm and let it get up to temp. Add a few pieces to get it through till bedtime and then shut it off. We still have hot water in the morning. Then repeat as needed. It’s an experiment. Last summer I had propane for most of the summer. Going to try and go without. The only crappy part is when the smoke blows in the windows lol
