If the front knee was the problem, this might help. It’s the knee on the back leg that buckles in pain the instant I try to lower even a bit, no matter which way I try to lunge. Right knee worse than the left. Any other modifications for that?

Hi, need help - daughter 10 y o dancing since 2017 never injured in ballet before, now has a problem. She is used to pied a la main, holding leg up vertical to the side, splits and arabesque. Only a new teacher made her do in front of face, this started not too bad, but then it started to hurt, the teacher was taking her time concentrating on the ones at the other end of the bar and my daughter tried to hold on for when she eventually would turn to see her good work ( she had to adopt this attitude because otherwise the teacher would try to make out like she hadn’t done it !) This to the back too. For some reason the teacher only did 3 exercises at the bar before imposing this never previously tried move ! She even makes comments at my daughter about how supple she is so she should go that extra mile 😢 Only, she ended up limping out of that class and has been in pain in certain positions with her hips since ( the frog which she excels at is still fine). Arabesque was previously good too…

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried going in reverse as shown, but both my knees pop and creak, and pain prevents me from going even half way down.

We always recommend speaking to your health professional before trying any of our exercises if you have an active injury :) as ability to complete the exercise will depend on your strength and movement as well as the severity of the injury

If you aren't feeling a challenge with the suggested repetitions that Suzy discusses you can try add a small weight on your foot (start small and progress as able)
