Great effort on the 10x10 honestly! We’re taking a “go wide” approach this year too, with the goal of playing every game in our collection 😅 Would love to go for a traditional 10x10 in the future, maybe next year.
That is an awesome goal! I may need to borrow it for 2026! Keep us updated on your progress.
Great job you two! It is always hard to keep up with resolutions. Putting them out there for others to see is next level. You should be proud. I don’t do resolutions but you have definitely been a big impact on me this year. I too have put myself out there to meet more people and play more games and I am loving every minute of it and you have had a big role in that. Thank you!
Thank you for being part of the community!!! We absolutely love all of the people we had met this past year.
400 games of Frosthaven this year
Lol....could imagine the shananagins that our characters would get up to?
Hi guys 😁 excited that you mentioned me! Suzanne- happy to be a positive influence on your social media engagement goal. The studio looks really great! It is an awesome space to play. ❤
Thanks for watching! Small creators like us appreciate the support!!!
Interesting conversation. Got me thinking I might want to try out playing a campaign some time.
RPGs are alot of fun! We really find the Gooey Cube products to be super immersive with the right level of fantasy and creepy.
I am one of the people who ran out and bought both Thunder Works games after playing with you 😉 Had a lot of fun with several on your list. A few of my favorites of 2024 were Rock Hard 1977, River Valley Glass Works and Cities.
We haven't had a chance to play Rock Hard 1977 yet. River Valley Glassworks was quite fun though.
@@wiscodice_mainI will have to bring Rock Hard to a Sunday game day.
@@gypsymoonbeam5071 That would be a very good idea. I suspect there may be a few people that want to play that one!
I know that guy!
So do we!!!
ROG insert does suck - it just doesn’t allow you to get everything back in the box correctly
But it's so shiny you just hate to take it out :)
This year has been great for me. Meeting you guys and just getting out and playing and learning a lot of new games and meeting so many fun people.
The pleasure was ours. There is an amazing gaming community out there just looking for players.
I'd like to add Wandering Towers as being a fantastic game to play with non-board gamers to get them into the hobby. Had a great time with it on Thanksgiving with a table full of non-gamers.
Wandering Towers is a great game. We've played it at least a dozen times now. All those plays, and we actually don't own a copy!
What brand of card sleeves do you recommend and why? What measurements do you consider “standard” ?
Generally, we aren't too particular on brand. However, these clear titan shield sleeves are pretty good and will work for most standard card sizes: amzn.to/3Z8kHgX If you need specific size sleeves for your game, going to boardgamegeek.com and search for the particular game. There should be a button for most games that says Sleeve It. This will tell you the precise size of the sleeves you want for the game as well as how many.
I personally use GameGenic Matte. There is no real standard, but I'd say 60% of games use the 'Standard Card Game' size (using GameGenic's vernacular). 66 x 91mm. Other common sizes are Standard American, Standard European, Mini-American, and Mini-European.
October 23rd?
Unfortunately from when we recorded the episode to when we were able to get it released there was a bit of a delay. Our December episode will be back out on schedule for the audio show.
Thanks for the awesome reviews! I’ve played all of those except Nunatak, really want to try that one. I love the other four and actually own three of them. Games on my shelf of shame that I really want together to the table are Gnome Hollow, Split Stone Games Mycelia, Harvest and Arborea.
Thanks! So many games and so little time!!!
Love that Cone Cup idea!!
It's really helped allow us some flexibility with a table where we don't have to teach or try to ensure players understand the rules. Love to hear if you try something like that if it works out for you.
Hey Wallace? Where’s Gromit?? Have ya heard that a lot that u look just like him??
We have not heard that.
If you’re ever looking for more players let me know.
We're always looking for more players. Drop us an email.
I agree!
Surprised Conesy for sure. Great to have it in our collection.
Got this game with the metal hacker pieces. They are amazing! Haven't played it yet, but it looks like a fun and unique game! Thanks for the review. Now it's time to read the rules and get it to the table! 😀
We hope you enjoy it! We have found many of our friends picking this game up after we introduced them to it.
It’s a huge honor to see Galactic Cruise on your lists! 🚀 Thank you.
Thanks! We are very excited to play this game. It's one that has been on Suzanne's list for over a year!
Saludos WiscoDice from my long retirement here in southern Mexico. I popped in because I enjoy games. I thought you might enjoy the fun fact that Spiel Essen in German Can mean Game-Eaters (or general Consumers) Sorry you didn't get to go. See you next year in Essen! All the Best Jacques the Jersey Boy.
We Americans often refer to it as Essen, which is also not correct. Based on the official website for the show they use Spiel Essen, and so did we.
I’m still waiting for the joke
So you've heard of this concept called points? Neither have I. I can't believe the designer thought of that to determine a winner. It's brilliant! Not good enough?
Love to prepare and have a chance to watch a video before coming to play a game. Also really like when games include the quick start guides.
Quick start guides are always helpful. We should get around to doing more how to play content on the channel.
HaHA!! My friends!! Thank you for this marvelous discussion!! Cheers to Wisco Dice!!
Thank you so much! Now, the real question is the wizard going to start wearing a hat? LOL
@@wiscodice_main NEVAH!! HaHA!!
Hah! We hear that hats are all the fashion in Darkenhaven!!!
Which game are you most excited to play from your haul?
Suzanne wanted to play An Age Contrived. Conesy looked forward most to playing Arcs. Both have been played a couple of times so far. More on our Gen Con experience this year is in our recap video! th-cam.com/video/X8mJchSeH-U/w-d-xo.html
You are a benevolent gamer Consey. Thank you for giving back to the hobby.
Thank you! We all do our parts. Not everyone has the free time, funds, or passion for games that we do!
10. Werewords 9. Clank 8. Fox in the Forest 7. Splender Duel 6. Scythe 5. Wyrmspan 4. Heat 3. Dwellings of Eldervale (Andromeda's Edge might go here with more play throughs) 2. Tyrants of the Underdark 1. Dune Imperium (with rise of ix)
That's a great list. Dune Imperium is such a great game. We still need to experience Fox in the Forest, but all of the other games we have definitely played and had a really good time playing. Thank you for sharing!!!
@@wiscodice_main if you trick taking it is a fun spin on it imo.
@@TheHEAVYDAN Conesy definitely is more into trick taking than Suzanne is, but it's a game that we would enjoy getting a chance to play.
Got mine 4 days ago super pumped to play the new models
That's awesome! Soon we hope to get a game in. We are really looking forward to it.
Congrats on the weight loss this year! I am on my own weight loss journey, and doing the best I can, but not seeing a great deal of success, unfortunately. I will keep trying! I managed to get over 150 miniatures painted this year! Star Wars Rebellion and Destinies are going to look amazing when I get them to the table again! My wife and I have played 60 games so far this year! We got 15 games off of our shelf of shame and looking forward to playing some more in the near future. 😊
Thank you so much. Weight loss is a serious challenge and we know you can do it too! Finding something that works for you and you can be supported with in your daily life can be a challenge. Stick with it. 150 miniatures painted is definitely awesome. I always wanted to paint Rebellion, but Suzanne may not be so happy with me if I tell her that one can't be played until it's painted! LOL Keep playing games and having fun.
~ My basement demolition and remodel has officially started, so having a real board game room is that much closer to becoming a reality! ~ Put Geekway To The West on your 2025 Con list. We had a blast there last year, and even got to play a game with Chris George from the Room And Board channel, who runs the World Series of Board Gaming. ~ I move my games around WAY too much to catalog them by location. :o) ~ Congrat's on the weight loss progress!!!!
Congratulations on the game room progress. We'll see if we can make it to Geekway. There are so many great conventions!
Vibing hard or hardly Vibing
We are so excited to get these to the table....They just happened to arrive during our busiest point in the year.
@@wiscodice_main Congratulations
River Valley Glassworks is a game I was intrigued about.
I don't believe either of us got a chance to look at that one when we were at the show. We'll have to keep an eye out for more details.
I bought that one! I’d be happy to bring it sometime.
You two were the best guilds! Thanks for helping to make my first Gencon smooth and tons of fun! Highlights for me- I loved walking the vendor room floor and getting the chance to try so many cool new games. I did grab both Rock Hard and Gnome Hollow-I’m happy to share them sometime too.
@@gypsymoonbeam5071 It was absolutely our pleasure. We're also looking forward to getting both Rock Hard and Gnome Hollow a try.....
Congrats! I got my address confirmation a couple of weeks ago and the wait had been unbearable
We know what that feels like!
Gonna go reactor critical with all my damn envy... Aus waiting cgl.
To say we were just a little excited was an understatement. The biggest challenge now is figuring out where we want to start unboxing!
@@wiscodice_main enjoy it for me!
We definitely are!
Ahh the classic GenCon hauls. No better way to crush poor peoples spirits then this! XD
Certainly not our intent to crush spirits. If we did not pick up all of these games we wouldn't be able to provide all of the great content that we do. We hope you enjoy some of the upcoming reviews on these games!
whats a gen con?
GenCon is a large, annual tabletop gaming convention held in Indianapolis, Indiana USA for 4 days. There are about 70000 attendees this year and it's full of Game demos, games to play, seminars, and so much more!
who is moaning at 0:13??
Someone in the surrounding crowd likely
Septima is great and surprisingly complex
It was and we definitely would like to play it again.
I love Let’s Go To Japan, Maze runner and Stonespine all are a lot of fun. Really interested in Septima- gonna look for that one. Sky Rockets sounds stressful 😂 but I’d try it!
They are all good games. Sky Rockets is a little stressful, but its really fun and fairly quick. There's a reason we picked up or played all of these games already.
Let's go! Japan sounds like a super fun game! I'll have to check it out.
There was a rediculous amount of fun that was had at the table when it was played. Everyone had a great time. It's worth checking out!!!!
Another great review! Thanks for the explanation.
Glad it was helpful!
Those expansions look like a lot of fun!!
We certainly think they will all be great additions to some already good games!
The Road to Gen Con goes ever on!!! This time we dive into all of the Board Game expansions that we are looking forward to checking out. The real question will be how many of these do we bring home... th-cam.com/video/MgytB5PIXBY/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the review. So many cool things to look for at Gen Con!
We hope you find all of the games you want at the show!
@@wiscodice_main I’m going with no list….this way I won’t be disappointed lol. Just going to enjoy whatever I stumble upon.
@@gypsymoonbeam5071 There are lots of ways to enjoy Gen Con.
Great choices! I'm most looking forward to checking out We're Sinking!
Thanks! We're Sinking wasn't on our list to check out, but it has us intrigued. Suzanne isn't the biggest social deduction game player. However, this looks like a great mix of board game and social deduction aspects!
@@wiscodice_main I got a chance to play it at Origins, I never considered it a social deduction per say. More of a prisoner's dilemma. It's kinda hard to explain. It's not really a semi-coop. There are opportunities for lots of collaboration and backstabbing but there is only one winner at the end so you gotta figure out when and how to set yourself apart depending on if the ship sinks or is saved.
That sounds better and better! We'll check it out at Gen Con!
Great interview. I loved hearing about what goes into designing a game.
Thanks! We love talking to publishers. If there is ever anything you want to know about the publishing process please let us know!
We LOVED the Campaign. We didn't feel that the story being linear was limiting. We didn't go into it expecting it to be a strong, story campaign. We just found it fun to play Scythe differently while adding new components with a decent enough story on top of it. We never thought it was going to be the 'choose your own adventure' type campaign, at all. Using this expansion to teach a new-to-Scythe player probably isn't optimum.
Glad you enjoyed it. I think we wanted to make it clear that this campaign is not for everyone. Scythe is Suzanne's top Euro style game so we really enjoy the game and the new components and factions will become staples for us in future games.
“That Player” sounds like he must be awesome at this game. Perhaps your fourth friend was very weak?
The player who dominated with wins definitely played very well. I wouldn't say anyone was weak though.
"We need more cute games" HERE HERE! Oranges and Lemons nursery rhyme is about execution I think... pretty grim lol Like Ring o'Rosie.is about the plague. Nice list guys. .
Thank you. We love a good cute game. Oranges and Lemons just sounds unique. We look forward to seeing it and learning more!!!
