Feel Good Garden
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 25 ต.ค. 2023
There's nothing better to make you feel good than being out in nature surrounded by all the plants you've nurtured, cared for and watched grow. The food you've grown always seems to taste that much nicer and the flowers you've grown give you the feel good factor. I love either being in my garden at home or on the allotment on a warm sunny day enjoying a cuppa and natter with family and friends as well as having a potter, sowing and planting.
If you are following my journey then maybe we'll discover a few new things together or you'll be able to give me some advice as I consider myself to be a keen novice gardener and always open to learning.
Please subscribe to my channel and thank you so much if you've already subscribed and liked my videos, it means a lot and I really appreciate it. :-)

Autumn Leaves, Allotment Planting and a Huge Cauliflower
It's Autumn/Fall and the best time of all to collect leaves for a leaf mould pile. It makes superb compost but can take a long time to break down. A leaf rake I found brilliant this year along with a special gardening bag.
In our front garden I collect rosehips as Doug is going to make rosehip wine. You can also make other things from rose hips too.
At the allotment I use the wheelbarrow to take plants around the back of the polytunnel, the geraniums and fushia plants are going to be potted up to take home to over winter. I plant up the perennial cornflowers and talk about the beans already planted and about next year's bean planting on the framework.
There's more planting to do but first the allotment bed needs to be weeded and old plants removed. These are the perennial sweet peas, nasturtiums, sweetcorn, walking onions, strawberry plants and self seeded leeks.
After having a tea break at the allotment , I decide to leave the strawberry plants and leeks for another day and split this section into 2 plant beds with a wood chip pathway between the two. This would make it easier to walk from one allotment plot to the other.
This one plant bed is used to plant up Kale. It was a gift from our allotment plot neighbour Cheryl.
My sunflower challenge/grow along is for the tallest sunflower and biggest sunflower head. Please send photos to Linda@feelgoodgarden.co.uk
The closing date for 2024 Sunflower photos is October 31st.

Beans, Sage for stuffing, cabbage, broccoli, parsnip, carrots and leeks are the garden items I shop for on the allotment. I have a nice surprise after I pick the parsnip. The grapevine was pruned hard this year and I didnt think there were any grapes on there but I found a few tiny ones. I'm still learning how to grow carrots and manage to pull up a few small ones. The leeks although could do w...

Hello Linda, plenty of harvesting. I havent grown sweet potatoes before but, have tasted them and didnt like them. Yours dont look too bad 😊 lovely tomatoes and still growing too. Nice tip on how you dry your flowers 😊 lots of tidying up jobs done too. Loveky video update. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
Awww thanks Christine 😊❤️ I've put the sweet potatoes I pulled up in the garage and am hoping to replant them next year if they last the winter.I will try one of the bigger ones though. I do like sweet potatoes, so I'll be so chuffed if I can grow some big ones. Hope you're having a lovely weekend ❤️
👍👍👍
Coucou Excellente vidéo, les choux sont vraiment magnifiques. Merci pour ce partage A bientôt
Thank you so much ❤️
What type of roses for rose hips??? Have you thought about filming how to create rose hip wine and or tea??? . And how to prepare Rhubarb ,...and cooking of Rhubarb pie.. etc.
We used Rosa Rugosa Rose Hips, but I believe you can use any Rose Hips, but please check first if you do use Rose Hips for anything. Doug mentioned cooking something or making something, too, but I'm reluctant at the moment Thanks for your input and Happy gardening ❤️
Loved the little tour of the lost gardens of Heligan . Mighty fine cauliflower there Linda, my specimens look more like golf balls.
Awww thanks George ❤️ I can grow cauliflower it seems but still struggling with carotts 😂
Fantastic video You work so hard on plots they are lovely well done ❤
Awww thank you, Julie.much appreciated ❤️
1st year of collecting leaves . My garden is surrounded by trees so the other day I got my mower out and put wheels up high and used it to Hoover it up. Neighbours must think I'm mad mowing at this time of year. Saved my back and filled a builders bag nearly and the trees are still full lol. Great idea Linda x
Great idea Chrissie, it's great for us gardeners to have something free and it makes superb compost too! I think my neighbours passing by must think I'm mad too until I tell them 🤭😂 ❤️ xx
@Feelgoodgardens lol I just don't tell them as its more fun them guessing and thinking I'm mad 😂😂😂
Your compost looks great, and I hope the kale thrive for you Linda.
Hi Cheryl 👋 Thank you so much for the Kale, we'll certainly give it a try either for greens on a dinner or Kale crisps. Looks fab planted up doesn't it. ❤️ x
Great upload Linda, the plots are looking good. The cauli is fantastic 😊
Awww thanks so much Cheryl ❤️ x
Marvy cauliflour. I really didn't like the walking onions either. Regular annual ones have so much more flavor.
Thanks for confirming that Robin. 👍❤ My first time growing walking onions but they were fun to grow anyway. I have some tiny offspring so may pop them amongst something else, just for the fun factor 😂
Love the bean trellis Linda! You could dye each bunting in different colours. Pick the amount of colours you want, dilute per the instructions and put one of the flags in a little bag and empty the diluted dye in and pop a clip or elastic band on them. I love kale. You can also make crisps with them and season them with different spices. Take care.
@AnyKeyLady thank you ❤️ The bunting would look pretty different colours. I was also thinking of tie dying the flags but by the time you buy all the different colour dyes and time involved it would be cheaper to buy some new bunting 🤭 so I'll probably stick to one colour this time round even though it wouldn't look as nice. I love your idea though 👍😀 Kale crisps sound lovely. If we're not fussed on eating cooked Kale then we'll definitely try the crisps, thank you 👍❤️
❤
😀 ❤️
Oh be careful getting leaves off the side of the road Linda it can have oils and chemicals on them. Stick to the grass areas. 😅 then she says we don’t have a lot of cars 😂😂. Your cauliflowers are amazing 😻 I don’t do well with cauliflower in the garden. And the broccoli 🥦 wow great job. I’m leaving some of my flower beds for the bugs 🐞 to,hide in and we will clear those beds fully in spring. I have loads of bulbs to get in this week. Those were definitely lovely gardens ❤. Have an aa week Linda, Ali 🥶☔️🇨🇦
HI Ali 👋 ❤️ It's a quiet road and as there are fields behind that hedge there's rarely any cars parked there and road sweepers come most weeks and clean the gutters, hence I mentioned the leaf thieves 😂 First time growing Cauliflower and broccoli so must be beginners luck 😂 meanwhile I'm still struggling to grow carrots and yet to harvest a good looking parsnip 😂 I had lots of footage of those gardens but only included a little. I probably have enough to fill a video 🤭 Happy planting of your bulbs ❤️
You could tie dye the bunting, so that you get patterns, rather than a plane colour
I did think of that Jayne thank you ❤️ I've never done any tie dying before but looks like it might be a bit time consuming. The results could look amazing though, maybe something to think about for the allotment at a later date. 👍😀
I just love dahlias I how all mine from seed
Hi Nick 👋 ❤️ Wow that's brilliant, do they flower the first year and then have tubers? 🤔
Dug some of mind up today that I grew from seed and yes they have tubers 😃
@TheBlueShedGarden Wow that's brilliant. I might give it a go, thank you 😊 ❤️
@ yes they flower the 1st year and you do. I don't dig mine up ever! But I have to say the second year they are spectacular! But you get tons of flowers year 1
Great update once again Linda what a shift you put in lol , I'm well impressed with your cauli, I just can't seem to grow them xx
Awww thanks Jim 😊 ❤️ It's the first time I've grown cauliflower and that was my first one! Beginner's luck! 😂 I bet you grow lovely carrots 🥕 though Jim, something I'm still trying to grow properly. Once I do we'll have to have an allotment celebration woo hoo 🥳🎉😂 x
@Feelgoodgardens I've got a carrot bed purely for carrots so I try Linda lol 50/50 success , look forward to see how you get on xx
Wow lovely garden you visited - so many dahlias!! You’ve inspired me to find a garden to visit tomorrow on my day off. Hopefully I can find one with a veg patch🤞🏻
Thanks Dora ❤️ I had loads more footage of the Lost Gardens of Helligan and left some lovely bits out, I realised afterwards 😳 They had a kitchen vedgetable garden there too. If you're ever near St.Austell in Cornwall go pay it a visit, you'd love it there Dora. Hope you find a nice garden to visit tomorrow, enjoy your day off ❤️ x
Loved the opening music, Linda, cos I love Reggae. I broke my scissors trying to harvest a cauli a few weeks ago, lol! I need to buy a sharp knife. I did buy a gardeners knife from B&Q, but it is absolutely useless. You couldn't even cut paper with it, lol! The lost gardens look magnificent. I went years ago, before much renovation had happened- amazing what's been achieved, Love your hoop clips- they look so easy to use. I have some black clamp style clips and I hav to be careful opening them so I don't snap them. Happy gardening lovely lady 🙂
Awww thank you so much Be ❤️ I'm so pleased like me you love reggae music, it's so lively and jolly isn't it. 🎶 🎵 I struggled cutting that cauliflower with scissors, I was ages, so in the end I bent it over and snapped it and then cut it. I edited .most of that out though 😂 We did have a knife for the allotment, it was brilliant but one day I dropped it and the blade snapped! We've been going to replace it but haven't bought one yet, it's on the list 😂 Happy gardening ❤️
@@Feelgoodgardens Giggle- cheat, ha ha !
Fabulous cauli , yeh definitely yellow I bought a dye a few months back cheaper to buy new bunting Linda price on it 🙄
Thanks Elizabeth ❤️ Thank you for your input, I'm still drawn to yellow too. I was thinking the same, should I just buy more bunting for the allotment instead 🤭😂
That cauliflower was a whopper! I made cauliflower cheese with today. It was yummy 😋. Thank you for posting another interesting video. 😊
Thanks Sheryl ❤️ The cauliflower has been used twice and there's still some left in the fridge 🤭😊 x
Love this not many people show you what to do with the harvest
Thanks Nick ❤️ I didn't show my cooked dinner, and it was piled high with vedge 🤭 Doug cooked it but didn't do cheesy leeks so I made it later on toast, very tasty 😋 Have a lovely weekend and enjoy gardening in the sunshine 🌞 ❤️
I bet that was one delicious Sunday lunch!! I love cheesy leeks 🥰 I’ve not grown sweet potatoes before… now I’m going to add them to my to grow list. Or maybe my ‘nice to have’ list as a bonus… my list is getting long! I think I might try one or two in a container. “Orange blosh” that’s something I’d say 😂 I didn’t officially measure my sunflower but I’ll send you a pic anyway!
We always have a pile of vedge on our Sunday dinner. 😋 Doug ended up cooking dinner so I made cheesy leeks on toast later on 😂 We could have a sweet potato grow along as well as a sunflower grow along so please do join in 👍 😊 😂 Could be a new variety of tomato 🍅 Crimson blosh 😂 I did rerecord that bit but decided to leave that version in 😂 Looking forward to seeing your sunflower 🌻 photo ❤️
Another great video, I'm enjoying seeing you expand the channel with music and plot tours, tips and trips. Pay no attention to the boring people DO You! Shopping your plot for Sunday lunch is epic we'll done, it's the pay off for all your work.
Awww thank you so much Lisa ❤️ I might be wanting to do a let's be nosey plot tour on your plot next year 👍😀 How about it? I'm so pleased that you enjoyed my video and the music, that's fabulous, thank you 🌻❤️ x
@@Feelgoodgardens yeah definitely up for visits anytime x
@Lisa.j365 Thanks Lisa 👍🌻❤️ x
I've grown them twice, first year brilliant, second bad.....some bug ate them underground. Funny thing was the foliage looked healthier than the year before. Yours look like they needed more time for sure. Try again. I cured mine in a bathroom with a little heater, because it was already quite cold here in October that year. Regarding the music, it's the Feel Good Garden by Linda....so you decide on the music. Volumes are a tricky thing for me, I've been playing with mine for months to figure it out. Mostly I do OK, but sometimes after I publish and watch...I'm like UGH. The shed looks great.
That's great feedback, thanks Robin ❤️ That's great you've had success with Sweet potatoes. I agree mine just needed more time to grow, the leaves had started to die back that's why I dug them up. I'm definitely going to try them again next year. It's all trial and error with TH-cam isn't it as much as it is with gardening 😊 😂 Did you see your sunflower picture on my website Robin? feelgoodgarden.co.uk/your-sunflower-photos Have a great week 🌻❤️ x

Hi Linda, it was great music but I think a mix of that music and your usual music would be better, Happy growing 🙂
Hi Be 👋... Noted! Thank you and have a great week 🌻😀❤️
I loved the Malvern music, Linda. It was brilliant! This music is good too, so I’m assuming you had this made too? Keep doing you! You’re unique and lovely. Shame about the sweet potato harvest not being what you hoped for, but at least you’ve learned for next year. I’m trying them in the polytunnel next year I think. Shed looks lovely for a fresh coat of stain..Good work Doug.
Awww that's so lovely of you Clare, thank you ❤️ Yes custom made music 🎶 just for fun 😂 Yes I'm going to try them in the polytunnel and outdoors next year. There's a few tips in my comments from my lovely viewers, so we can both learn from them 😉 😀 Have a great week 🌻 ❤️

Thank you Susie ❤️ I'll keep an eye out in Aldi when I'm next there, thank you 👍😀 I don't have a recipe for cheesy leeks as I guess the ingredient quantities. With those 3 leeks... I chopped them up thinly as they cook quicker, then fried them in butter until soft with a little salt and pepper. I then added about 2 table spoons flour, mixed that in and then added some milk. Brought that to the boil whilst constantly stirring and then added in some grated cheese. Do the taste test and add more salt and pepper if needed and more milk if it's too thick. If it's nice and thick you can have it on toast. Grate some cheese on the top and pop under the grill to brown 😋 Doug makes the stuffing, I'll have a look for his recipe as I did reply with it to another viewer. When I find it, I'll let you know. Have a great week 🌻❤️
@@Feelgoodgardens Thank you so much 😁😋
I can only agree with several of the others who wrote here, it is your channel and you make it the best yourself.
Thank you so much, I appreciate your feedback 😊 👍🌻❤️
Hi Linda! Not quite UK but not so differnt climate here in germany: I'm having great succsess with sweet potatos when making a row of hilled up loose soil and planting them in there. This way they produce far larger sweet potatos! It's like hilling up regular potatos but you do it before planting instead of gradualy. I'm watering them only if it has not rained for a few weeks and if your soil is rich in hummus you dont even need to feed them. Hope this helps! 🌻
That's fantastic Gwen, thank you so much, I really appreciate you telling me about growing sweet potatoes like that. 👍❤️ I'll have to try it next year. 😀 Have a great week 🌻❤️
Love watching your videos Linda and your music is fabulous ❤
Awww thank you so much Marjory, that's lovely feedback and much appreciated 👍 😍🌻❤️
I’m fine with the music, but couple of the sound of the woman’s voices did jangle my ears. The woman’s voice was a bit high pitched,..but on the other songs ,not so much. The mans voice was fine,... but you have a great sound ,and when you speak I can hear you fine and clear. But it wouldn’t hurt ,if the music is a bit toned down ... couple of the songs were just to loud. I suspect,..it’s just as we get older,us old folks can’t handle loud sounds as we did, when we were young.
That's great feedback, thank you so much and appreciated and taken on board 👍😄❤️
I thought themusic was great made me laugh xx
Thanks Penny, I'm so pleased you liked the music and it made you laugh 😂👍❤️ x
@@Feelgoodgardens You always make me smile as you are always so positive & will try anything xx
@@pennythompson4790 Awwww thank you so much Penny, that's lovely of you to say 🌻❤️ x
Fellow here in the States says,it’s best to plant carrot seed or plants in soil that’s not overly fertilized. To much fertilizer causes carrots to grow wonky. Best to plant carrots plants or seeds in a plot that has used up most of the compost or fertilizer. Then your carrots will grow one root, straight down, instead with multiple roots going every which way.
Thank you so much that's great advice and I did try to grow them in soil that had already been used but I guess there was still too many nutrients in there. I'll keep trying though thank you, much appreciated 👍❤️
Hi Linda. I do enjoy gentle music, but I am partially deaf (1 deaf ear) which means if the music is too loud, I can't separate it from your speech, so I can't hear what you're saying. The level today was good. Loved your vlog today. You're a very cheerful, positive person.🌺
Awww thanks Babs that's great feedback. ❤️ I'll try to be more mindful when I'm talking to turn the volume right down. Have a great week 🌻🌹❤️
At least you don’t sing 😂😂😂 just kidding Linda you are a star ⭐️ so just be you. Will you prune the 🍇 vine? Cheesy leeks sound better than cheesy jokes 🤣🤣. What absolute amazing harvests Linda. Have a lovely week, Ali ☔️☔️🇨🇦
Thank you ❤️ Ali you are right, you certainly don't want me singing. I thought you'd already heard me! 😂 I'm pleased to still be able to harvest a few items for meals especially Sunday Dinner/lunch. We just love loads of vegetables piled up on our plate 😂 Yes the grapevine is on the list to prune and long overdue, did you see the state of it? 😂 Have a great week Ali 🌹🌻❤️ x
@@Feelgoodgardens 🤣🤣 let’s just assume you won’t be making wine like Lucille Ball and singing 🎶
@@myrustygarden Ali, don't think so 🤔 🎶😂😂😂
Your first attempt at sweet potatoes was better than mine, last year grew them in pots in the tunnelhouse, the big thing is slip production, you need to start them in a warm spot, in the house is the best if its warm. Start them in February, pull shoots off and get good roots growing by placing the slip into a jar, keep in a warm room, but not direct sun. Plant 2 or 3 per large pot, am experimenting with how much earlier they will grow in the tunnelhouse. Generally am aiming for the end of April not May like outside. Keep warm, water occasionally, harvest around the first frost. Harvested a wheelbarrow full in Zone 9a in New Zealand.
Have been perfecting my technique the last 6 years, am now supplying fellow local gardeners with slips this spring have over 50 growing at the moment. Our tunnelhouse gets too hot in the summer, perfect for peppers and sweet potatoes.
That's fabulous feedback about growing sweet potatoes Helen, thank you and much appreciated 👍❤️
Wow amazing that you supply local growers that's fantastic! Gold star ⭐👍😄❤️
I love your videos Linda I love the music it always makes me smile ❤ xx
Awww thanks so much Lorraine for your lovely feedback really appreciated 👍❤️ x
Ive sent you an email of some of my strawflower uses plus flower decs
@@DadsPassedDownPlot Thank you so much they are absolutely gorgeous 😍 ❤️ I'm planning on growing more of them next year 👍😊
Loved it Linda I was presently surprised when listening to the words and the one I've the show you all went too. I did see one persons comment last week and thought how bloody rude! If they don't like it they can do one. The music shows your personality and you are the channel. I saw Tony Smith had great success with his sweet potato. Maybe it was a UK aclimbatised type. He grew it in buckets as well. Not seen others harvest yet. Looks like yours were just getting going. Always next year xx
Awwww thank you so much Chrissie I really appreciate your lovely feedback.❤️ I'm not too bothered about that feedback, I appreciate that the music may not be to everyone's taste but I'm so happy that you and most of my viewers not only liked it but loved it. I think it's fun to include it in my videos but do appreciate everyone's feedback whatever that may be. Thanks for letting me know about Tony Smith's video, I'll have to have a look and hopefully gain some knowledge about growing sweet potatoes 👍😄
Love a straw flower I make arrangements out of mine thanks cor a lovely video again
Awww thank you so much ❤️ and thank you for sending me your gorgeous flower arrangements. Can I include them in a video or maybe post them on my website please? I think it will inspire others to grow them. The more flowers growing in gardens and allotments the merrier I say 👍😄🌻🌹💐
@@Feelgoodgardens oh of course happy to share ❤️

Thanks Elizabeth, great feedback.👍❤️ I'm pleased that I'm starting to strike a balance with the music. 👍😊
Linda, you do whatever YOU WANT TO DO with YOUR channel. It's your name on the account, nobody else's. You're a youtuber with feelings, not a puppet. It was a lovely video. Yes, I wish you listened about the corn 😂 you really won't throw anything away will ya 😂❤ (slips) keep being you Linda. We all love you for it. You'll have a lovely polytunnel to grow sweet potatoes in by soring! Danny 🌱❤
Awww thanks Danny ❤️ I know the music here and there was a bit cheesy but I like it because it's fun and I'm so pleased that most of my viewers do too. I'd better get in quick at the planning stage with Doug otherwise there's not going to be room for me to grow sweet potatoes in the polytunnel 😂
Think i will give sweet potatoes a try next year too linda, shame about your sweetcorn dont give up on it yet though i had an awful year with it last year but this year it was fantastic and tastes so nice . Wonderful dinner harvest you had. I liked the music. Shed is looking great too 🌻
Awwww thanks Lisa ❤️ I'm pleased you are growing sweet potatoes too so we can compare notes! 👍😂 Pop over for a cuppa and I can pick your brain about growing sweetcorn next year 😊 Hopefully it'll be 3rd time lucky 😂
