Leveraging Drones and Tech for the Future of Crisis Response
On this episode of the OK State of Mind podcast, Tulsa's Community Response Team (CRT) shares how the new Tech Hub designation and investment into Unmanned Air Systems (UAS) has improved crisis response in the city. These tools allow for enhanced situational awareness-whether it's assessing a potential threat from a safe distance or determining if a person in crisis needs immediate intervention. By offering first responders and mental health professionals an aerial perspective, drones provide valuable insights that help de-escalate situations and ensure the safety of everyone on the scene.
The podcast features Captain Justin Lemery from the Tulsa Fire Department, Captain Shellie Seibert from the Tulsa Police Department, and Amanda Bradley from COPES at Family and Children's Services, each representing law enforcement, fire and medical support, and mental health expertise within Tulsa’s CRT, discussing their collaborative efforts to address mental health crises in the community.
