454 Build For My Volvo 1800 ES Engine Swap
This is my engine build for my 454 engine swap. Would've come out earlier, but in at least part due to my last one almost Kurt Cobain'ing itself, I had to do it all over again.
Short list of parts that were not explicitly mentioned:
Camshaft SUM-1797, 0.544 lift on int/exh
Summit billet double roller timing set
GM perf lifters
Summit SFI damper and flexplate
ARP flexplate bolts
Summit non-bypass oil filter adapter
Trick Flow valve springs and Comp retainers
Outside of that it's pretty generic.
Build is generous,
Something for sure.
Done, properly this time.
Not because its built properly, but at least I know exactly why it'll fail, unlike last time.
does anyone read these?
peep the jane doe figure in the background lmao

Front Strut Assembly Replacement Volvo S40, C70, C30, V50.

2004-2011 Volvo S40 2005-2013 Volvo C70 2008-2013 Volvo C30 2005-2011 Volvo V50 Torque specs I found online fit my car specifically, which is a 2011 C30 base. No guarantee they'll fit your car however it probably will. You should set aside at least 3 hours and only do one side at a time if this is your first ever strut replacement. The only specialty tools required would be a hex bit socket set...

Keep it down to earth. Most people will really relate, and the views with come.

Great video man, keep it up! Don’t feel the need to “find” a specific video style, just make them how you like & the people who like your style will watch it!

Great video. Shouldn't the 3 upper strut mount bolts be tightened and torque while the wheel is on the ground to insure that strut mount is seated correctly?

You dont need to hammer down on the spindle to remove the shock. Just get an 8mm Allen key and grind the short end of the Allen key on 2 sides to make a point which is the same tool used by Volvo. You just wedge it between the pinch on the spindle below the bolt hole where there a slot for this and turn it 45 degrees down which opens up the pinch in the spindle to release the shock. See Moose Tech Garage here on how to do it th-cam.com/video/p-swy5KB-DM/w-d-xo.html or you could even just use a chisel and hammer it between the wedge to spread the spindle to release the shock

@@smartbox123tv Yeah I saw that video. For sure use it if you've got it and it works. I tried to pry it apart but it still didn't really come off, maybe poor leverage? Got in the way when hammering so I didn't try it again.

Another trick is to use the Pinch Bolt and a thin flat piece of metal as per this video th-cam.com/video/QBBkyDfnHtg/w-d-xo.html

Very helpful. What’s that strainer called and where did you find it?

Wet/dry media separator. Typically they are used for ammo reloading. This particular one is from Hornady, it's the rotary media sifter. The holes are large though, so if you are doing very small hardware they will likely still slip through.

how well do the SS pins get into the threads and internal threads on the nuts?

    • @mn_1800es
      @mn_1800es ปีที่แล้ว

It cleans threads on a bolt pretty well, almost regardless of size. I've done stuff from M4 to M10 and they all look super clean in the valley when its done. Internal threads its a bit different. If the nut is pretty large, it works okay, but there's no way I can say for sure the PINS doing the work, not the citric acid or something. Chances are you won't have much luck with anything smaller than M6, pins are too big to really get inside. It'll clean the outside just fine but the inside is a mixed bag. If its rust just let it soak in the acid for a while and that should clean it up, if that doesn't work your best bet would be in a steel pick or thread chaser to clean them out.
