Very cool and useful mods and another project to add to the to do list. I just ordered the version 2 with hub now supports USB-C up to 100 watt bi-directional power delivery. Perfect to charge up my laptop or keeping my Starlink Mini happy at base camp. I noticed when you removed the power hub, they're using standard Anderson Powerpoles as the interface. I am curious if those contacts are live or not? If it's the case, I can hookup my Powerpole distribution board directly to it bypassing the hub for my amateur radio equipment. The only concern I have is the long reliability since they're using cylindrical vs prismatic, but time will tell. The biggest plus compared to lead acid is you pretty much have almost full use of 1,280 Wh vs lead acid and the weight difference.

Thinking about getting the same grill and I've done analysis paralysis on pellet grills. I use a gas grill right now and tired of trying to maintain a temperature so I can cook on it. I wish the RT had a way to empty the hopper like some of the other brands and also a panel you could pull out to dump the ash versus having to vacuum. BUT, I do like what I've read about it keeping temps +/- 1 degree and how it's built sturdy. Glad to see you're enjoying it! Kind of an off the wall question but where in the world do you find a place that backs up to a cornfield like that??? I think I would love that other than I imagine a cornfield like that can attract all kinds of critters, 4 legged and slithering ones as well.

Now that I’ve had it awhile, two thoughts. I find if I’m just doing 1 steak or 2 hamburgers or so, I end up using my little Asmoke pellet smoker. I got it off amazon for $199. It heats up and always hold temp perfectly. If I need to grill a lot or smoke something, I’ll fire up the Reqtec. Just thought I’d share. Got lucky on the house - we could get this one and have a great sunset every night and no neighbors to look at - or back up to the woods. Love the sunsets, we made a good choice. Good luck on the grilling

I just received mine yesterday and I did the burn in which over temping by 71 degrees to start with then settled down to 400 within a few degrees. Today I did my first cook of ribs and it went over by 106 degrees then settled in at the setpoint for the entire cook. while I was watching the app I noticed there was a firmware update that I had not downloaded. After the cook I downloaded the update and restarted the grill, and it ran perfectly I had set it too 250 degrees and it went to 230 and started to slow down until it reached 250 and maintained it within to within a degree or two for an hour with absolutely no issues. this smoker holds temp better than my Campchef and my Myron MIxon Barq smoker by far it is superior to both. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a pellet smoker!!

The 1500W inverter will have a pretty good amp draw when turned on, even when not using any outputs...also takes up a lot of real estate. Could be better to install PP inputs into the case and keeping the inverter external for use when needed. Or upscale to a suitcase 😁 Enjoyed your first build...would like to see what you do with this one.

I'm planning a build strictly for tailgating, camping, and HAM radio. I'm definitely going to look at the battery in your first video, its like half the size of the GoldenMate I was looking at and the same Wh rating. That said, I'm planning on a 600w inverter. 600w should be way more than enough to run what I want and even run larger items if needed. Initial plans was to use one of those rolling toolbox deals that everyone makes, but I would love to get it even smaller. One thing I might add if you plan to sell them if a killswitch, that way people can just turn the switch on the outside and kill all power from the battery.

First of all thanks for posting these videos. I recently built a battery box after watching your first video. I probably watched almost every video on youtube and decided to emulate yours. I just added a 50 amp Anderson plug to be used for charging and for my inverter. I only plan on using a 500 watt inverter. From what I've read it should be fine. Not an electrician though so we'll see what happens. I did fit a 12v fuse block and fused everything in mine. I definitely could use a bus bar but there isn't much room left. I was thinking about upgrading to the 4800 box so I can fit an inverter and bus bars inside the box as well. Can't wait to see how this one turns out.

Interesting project. I have done DiY for DC power for a portable ham radio kit. The radios and accessories all run off of 12 volts so that was my baseline. I couldn’t use higher voltage and then step it down due to the radio noise with Dc to Dc conversion. For portable AC power I am interested in retail units such as Anker, Eco Flow, or Bluetti. It would seem your box is nice size if you stick with just DC. But you have to determine the need/requirements for you. Good video and look forward to more. Just subscribed. All the best.

I've been thinking along the lines of paultech9385. One box with smaller battery and some DC outlets (USB, cigarette, etc) and all the other equipment (solar converter, fuses, etc) with the equipment sized for a larger system. Maybe a small 100-150W inverter for powering/charging a few things. Connections on the small box to hook up a larger box with bigger battery(ies) and large inverter. Most of my needs for emergency power can be handled by the small box which is lighter and more portable. Then I can add the large box (12v, 200aH) as necessary. You are going to need a lot of juice to run a big inverter for any length of time. I'm still tying to figure out how all the connections would need to work.

I like this approach - maybe the bigger box has another battery too….

Too late for a 24V system? Add a cut off for the inverter to stop battery drain. Battery in one box and maybe the inverter and other electronics in 2nd box that stacks.

Thanks for the thoughts! Two boxes is an interesting idea! Not sure if I can get 2 batteries in for 24v but would really up the capacity

Yes, an inverter is a must. But before you know what size inverter, you need to know the size of your battery. A 50%ish battery to inverter ratio is what power stations seem to use.

Sometimes you won’t hear the crack Total time should be 9-11 minutes

In the video you baked the coffee, you need to start at a higher temp setting, fan 7 temp 5, At 360 you will be at yellow stage,,Turn fan down to 6 and heat to 6: at 400-410 first crack will hit,,hold at 1- 1,5 min,,,15% development ,,,then cool down

I stopped for a bit. It got really hot and humid. I think I’m going to get back to it soon.

What would you charge to build and sell one of these and ship it

If I can get enough time, I am going to do a build 2.0 - and document everything. Use bus bars, fuses, etc and keep track of costs etc. I think I may change the shunt - not sure if it's a battery bms or shunt - but the box is in like a paused mode until I hook to a charger. I want to get that figured out as well. I was also provided a 24v inverter, I want to mess with mixing different batteries and see what happens.... Stay tuned!

You forgot the AC outlets 🤷‍♂️

Not enough room for an inverter big enough to power anything
