The player character sure has a knack for collecting the island of misfit toys: Nemona: Likes the player because she needs someone who won’t reject her for going all out. Arven: Likes the player because he has parental abandonment issues, so he’s desperate for someone to care about him above all others. Penny: Likes the player, but isn’t very expensive about it because of the bullying and because her dad is expressive to the max. She’s the opposite of Arven. We see this in the post game where she checks in on her other friends from the shadows. Carmine: Pure tsundere. Can’t express her feelings because that would be embarrassing. Kieran: A Chūnibyō character. He has built up delusional fantasies of how only he understands the ogre and how they would be special together. The player character destroys this with reality resulting in full mask off insecurity. Player character: Typical Isekai-style protagonist. Gets better gear than everyone. Is loved by all people except the designated insecure whiny guy. Is one of four students given a trip to study abroad. Can apparently travel around the world at will. Befriends a powerful mythical Pokémon and captures the four enemies of the mythical. Takes down an AI program designed to kill intruders. Becomes champion of a school they don’t even attend just because they can. Single handedly revitalizes the nature preserve through charitable donations. Gets grades so good people seek them out for study sessions. Goes to the depths beyond the depths of area zero and fight and capture the source of the terastal phenomenon, a Pokémon so strong it broke the master ball and made itself a wild Pokémon again with no trainer ID. Oh, and, to top it all off, bootstrapped the entire plot, reseting the world so that even the opening screen changed as a result.

I have a similar headcanon. The reasons are: 1. Its hilarious to ship these two because, well just imagining Carmine's reaction to the player assuming that would be priceless. 2. She gives off that pretending not to have a crush vibe. 3. Do you know anyone that hates someone so much they constantly state it to everyone, even without any proven reason? Thought not! 4. Her reaction to Drayton essentially asking MC on a date was peak. For one, I think she was quite jealous, and the fact she had to clarify that it wasnt excitement but anger. LMAO 5. This is a classic story trope. Just like how Nemona plays into the Yandere esc tropes, Carmine plays into the Tsundere trope. She treated MC the same way during the first half of DLC part 1. Its just her personality, once she's seen at her weakest she doesnt put up a front anymore. Yes, five reasons. And I havent even finished this DLC, I've only gotten to this part, so idk what happens next!

I find the fact that she likes him pretty cute and interesting, mostly since she probably never felt this before. But still, soce the trading, I consider my protagonist and Kieran to be an official couple, sorry Amarys 😄

I find it very interesting and annoyed how different the dialogues are between English and Japanese, it's bad enough the English dialogues from the last DLC made Carmine looked more abusive, but at 0:20, Kieran actually said "Really? For someone like me?" I haven't play this DLC so I don't know if we saw Kieran actually being a jerk to Lacey, but the Japanese line plays more into his low self-esteem, and Lacey cheers him up by saying that's what friends do, but here they implied Kieran was horrible to Lacey, and she just doesn't hold grudges

Any other character I would believe is a tsundere, but her? I think she really just hates the guy with no filter
