981 GT4 for me: it is the raw car (and not just the way it sounds: it goes well beyond that) and as raw as a GT (non-RS) Porsche should be [the 718 (981.2...) GT4 was tamed by Porsche to open up a gap needed for the RS version...] and much more rare. Admittedly the 718 (981.2...) GT4 has got its strengths: tamed as is it makes a better daily, for those who have full leather interiors the layout / stitching looks better (infotainment systems are irrelevant to me in this kind of machinery and the one in the 981 GT4 is absolutely fine) and its engine has got, rev wise, a much better top end. The exterior of both cars can easily split opinions - if one doesnt like needless detail then the 981 GT4 is the better looking car and conversely one may like the 718 (981.2...) GT4 better because of that.... Tweaks: Yes one can work out the 718 (981.2...) GT4 exhaust but then so can one workout the 981 GT4 engine (to well over 440 bhp...) which in its OEM state of tune is still an intentionally strangled engine by Porsche who always fears that the better sport they make car (the 981.1 / 981.2) will steal the 911 crown. Regardless I would say these two are the best sports cars money can buy of the last decade. People who sell off these cars, unless they can't afford to keep them or need the money, are daft...

981 GT4 owner, love this beast. My second cayman too. The sound under a bridge parts traffic like Noah on the Red Sea. I dont think you can go wrong with the 718 GT4 but in 10 years it's the 981 people will desire most. Raw, an event, purely viseral.

How does the 718 with an OAP (which I have) compare to a standard 981? Does it level the playing field? I assume the added OPF was the main difference between them?

Haven’t driven the 981 but I own a 718 GT4 and changed out the OAP and it sounds absolutely looney.

Such a beautiful time of year, I love it, I always love to see your showroom Dean, I find it to be a really cosy spot amidst the cars and the seating area across the hall. I'll always remember my first time visiting Redline 7 years ago, and you instantly offered me and my younger brother a sit in a limited edition gloss black Lamborghini Aventador Miura Edition, it had semigloss gold trims and I think at the time was priced at around £500k. As a lifelong car lover, I was stunned, I'll always hold that memory in such high regard! I'd love to come back down to DMB Collection at some point, I've visited once or twice a while ago and you always have an incredible collection!

I’ve went down to Twisted a while back and must admit I don’t really get it. The older defenders are not great road cars and are basically off road workhorses so I don’t understand blinging them up??
