    Very insightful vid 🙂 1 question - did you put that work experience that you were _not_ claiming points for in work history or personal history, in the PR application? I put work that I wasn't claiming points for in personal history, as that is what I heard others do without being asked for references. I am currently going through the PR application process (was recently issues biometrics and medical exam request), and am now worried ill get a document request for those extra employment references which will be very difficult for me to obtain.

    • @melody2684
      @melody2684 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We had to give references for 10 years of work history, regardless of if you get points for it or not. I didn’t get points for mine as I’m a travel agent, but I still had to give references

    Hi, thanks for this video I just came across. Have watched your more recent ones so happy for you. I'm moving with my family to Vancouver next Aug for a job. From the UK. What's the issues you've found with strata homes? You mentioned not wanting them at all. House prices in vancouver are scary. I'm in the North East of England and let's just say that we will be renting when moving there 😅

    • @melody2684
      @melody2684 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We are from Winterton, but strats there are rules, from how many animals you have, to garbage, visitors etc. you also pay fees for those properties to the strata’s. We don’t like being told what to do with our house. So we left BC and moved to NS where we could afford to buy a house

    So interesting about the mortgage thank you for that! We had a well in rural Ontario.. ours needed sorting .. Chlorine for bacteria.. a filter and a water softener.. our utility bills were a lot.. 500/600 dollars combined.. at least you probably won’t need AC there.. sadly, we were unable to swim in many of the lakes.. due to the green algae.. although, I think NS has just put up QR codes at many of their lakes to let people know if they are infected or not.. at least there are ocean beaches close by! I guess it could be due to the place warming up..Our journey from mid BC to mid Ontario took 8 days.. but we had a UHaul and a car.. that was driving 7 hour days and about an hour stop along the way for toilet and food.. we thought it would be quicker but it was more of a challenge than we expected.. think it took us 2 days to get past Lake Superior! Good luck on your epic adventure!!

    • @melody2684
      @melody2684 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks, the lake near us doesn’t suffer from green algae. We had the owners put in a new septic, and they had replaced the water tank and added a filtration system. All out tests came back clear. You’re also wrong about the temps, where we are going they are in their high 20’s early 30’s already, and yes air con is needed. We have the bills from the last couple years and they average out at 150 a month over the year. We have friends and multiple others we have chatted to about routes etc so we know 8 days is good to go. Our travel times vary from 4 hours to 11 to push through last couple of days. We have hotels pre booked so we know our stops as well. Can’t wait to get on the road

    • @melody2684
      @melody2684 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t recommend using a consultant, my hubbys work has their own immigration department. But I would never have paid for it, they charge 1000’s for something that costs a smidge of what consultants charge, also a lot of consultants will string you along years just for a pay cheque. And also there were mistakes made that delayed us by that team, so I wish we’d done it without them, only reason we didn’t was because they paid for it for us.

Changed our address on the PR application to our inland address and had my COPR in less than 2 months after doing that! Love your vid, thanks for sharing. I actually thought you had an immense love for stripey clothes but then saw it's the light through your window 🤣. Good luck with finding a new home. We can't wait to get out there now. I'm assuming when you say Cochrane you don't mean Cochrane Alberta, you guys still in Vancouver Island? X

      @@hasastark9216 no not at all, our summers are hotter, dryer and longer and our winters I find are slightly dryer than back home but defo colder. We are at -4 atm but nothing extreme with the cold, we had max of -7 last year (-14 with wind chill)

    Don’t invite people for a garden party, they think you mean a vegetable patch when you say garden, it’s a yard to them. Spanner is a wrench. The bonnet of a car is the hood. Omg there’s so many that I just can’t think of all the ones I’ve come across.

    Nevermind. I just noticed that you live in BC where the winter is warm, so block is not really necessary. It is, however a good investment (if you don't have one already) should you move to a colder region.

    • @melody2684
      @melody2684 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah we don’t need them here, they are an option, but not necessary where we live

  • @anhluu3194
    @anhluu3194 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does it come with a block heater? If not, I recommend getting one. It helps for the winter and keeps your battery life longer.

    • @melody2684
      @melody2684 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t need one due to where I live we don’t get really cold. In fact the UK is colder than where I live and I never needed one there. Nobody has them here

    Mid island has pretty decent prospects. Pt Alberni is in a valley and is probably the hottest area on the island in the summer and cooler than the coast in winter. Inlet and ocean fishing, snow skiing and Tofino are all close.
