This rod has CHANGED the WAY I FISH! (Kistler Jerkbait Rod!!)
This is the Kistler Jerkbait rod! Sitting at a length of 6'10, and weighing only 3.2 ounces, this baitcasting rod is the going to far well surpass any expectations that you might have for it! It's also one of the most uniquely spec'd rods on the market! Make sure you watching the whole video and watch me land a nice 6 pound Largemouth bass while I'm at it! Thanks for watching!

@@1lastcast349 it might just be because i live in pennsylvania. A lot of folk up here go for trout. Not too many places with large mouth bass and if there are any bass up here, they are small mouth. Plus a lot of the places i fish up here are rivers and not lakes. My one regret about moving up here is that bass fishing sucks. Either the lakes take several hours to get to or they just stock them with trout and cat fish. Whenever i fished in lakes down in florida my go to is a texas rig with a black/white plastic worm. When i cast that under bushes and logs ill get bites. But i’ve never gotten a bite before using a jig down south. I’ve wanted to believe in them but i just can’t seem to get anything to bite. I’ve got quite a few sitting in my collection gathering dust lol. I’ve also wanted to catch bass using a frog lure on the top water. I’ve actually come close to catching bass that way on my grandads pond but no success. Its always exciting seeing them jump out of the water for them.

I'm right handed and started with left hand retrieve reels.. felt natural. I did, at one point, try to fish with right hand baitcaster because all the pros do it on TV.. never got used to it. it just felt unnatural to jerk, twitch, set the rod with your weak hand. It's like trying to write with your weak hand. You can train your weak hand, but it's never going to be as good as your dominant hand.

  • @lespaulguitarist92

The thing about fishing is that you're not 1vs1 another human like in other competitive sports. You're only 1v1 or 2 or 3 a fish, so these people don't realize the importance of maximizing every advantage they have by using a left hand reel if you're right hand dominant.

No offense bud, but you need to read that little white book that comes with the reel.. You might find there's another setting as well... I have 3, two 200s, and 1 , 150, and I have never, ever, had a problem, even in 30mph winds, and I've fished them 10 hours a day straight... I weigh 165lbs...and you go to the gym, lol... That's the problem, your getting what your paying for, but you don't know how to use it.... READ THE BOOK, READ THE BOOK, READ THE BOOK-!!!

I think the fishing industry looked at baseball and how a person holds/swings a bat and applied the opposite logic for some unknown reason. Right handed batter, right hand stacked on top of left hand. So while casting it would feel more natural for a righty to have their dominant hand on the reel and left hand on the butt of the rod. However with fishing the exact opposite was implemented. So when using a right handed reel a right handed person is forced to cast like how a left handed person swings a baseball bat, left hand stacked on top of right, which is why you see people casting and then switching hands for the retrieve. So realistically, “left handed reels” should be considered right handed reels.

You're catching fish that mostly average less than a pound. I fish big saltwater for fish that can weight up to 30 lbs, so a longer handle is needed for leverage. Nice video though.

recently made the switch to a lefthanded baitcaster. i had always used a right BC but for spinning, i used it lefthanded. it just felt mre natural to me using a spinning reel lefthanded with a lift, reel technique. baitcasters felt more natural to me cranking with my right hand. i dont know why, it just did. made the switch, and i was surprised that i really like a left handed baitcaster. im a bit of an oddball though. i write with my right hand, but swing a bat lefty, so maybe im just goofy.

  • @steveodonnell2921

So then why do people do the opposite of what you are saying. I am also right dominant but switch the rod to my left hand after the cast. It feels completely natural doing that. I also bat left handed in baseball which also feels natural to me. I understand what you are saying but you aren't 100 percent correct 100 percent of the time using your argument. I'm proof of that and many people will tell you the same thing. Why else would I do it?

This makes perfect sense, and this is the way that I fish. About a month ago I bought my first bait caster and it never made sense while being right handed the retriever would be on the right hand side. Switching hands in between seems like it’s uncomfortable and takes up too much time.

Growing up and fishing in Florida I always used LH spinning reels fishing flats. So when I started to really get into bass fishing and buying baitcasters I naturally picked left hand reels. My cousin thought it was weird because the selection fo LH bait casters were hard to find. Florida requires a lot of pitching and flipping, well he lost a rod, reel and big bass one day while changing hands. He did have a reel that had a flipping switch so when he let go of the switch there was no free spool. He doesn’t use those reels anymore but understands why I use LH retrieve.

A common question from new fishermen. Personally, I am right handed and I routinely use a left handed bait casting reel. I cast with my right hand and I crank with my left. I’ve tried both left and right handed reels and it just seems natural to cast with my right and crank with my left. No switching of hands or fumbling on a hook set. Thanks for bringing this often ignored question to everyone’s attention!
