I recorded it three different times and she didn't keep running either time, but we did get a lot of the sounds they make that I like to hear. This one was in a sawmill and ran a generator that actually powered the mill if I read the information correctly.
A Prairie Tractor in Silk Hope (107)

I got a rare treat at the Silk Hope show this year when they moved this old girl around the park a bit. I thought it was a Titan or Mogul, but I know next to nothing about these machines. Set me straight on it, folks.

Slow Farmall BN Restoration Part 6: Plugs or Not? (75)
THANK'S FOR SHOWING EVERYONE EXACTLY HOW YOU REMOVED AND REPLACED THE STARTER DRIVE!!!! WE ARE ALL EXPERTS NOW !!!!!! THANK'S A LOT!!!!!!
Thanks for watching.
Hopefully all will work out for ya.
The parts I bought it for are all fine, but I don't know if there's much more good in it past those pieces. Still happy with the purchase.
Whet can of oli you use
Just standard 80-90w gear oil.
Hey I've been going through your videos and noticed that this setup with your distributor wires are different then a later video where you replace them. It looks like #1 wire is placed on #2 cylinder
I'll have to take a look at that. It's the kind of thing I'd be likely to get in a hurry and do. Especially since it's run like that with two carbs. Thanks!
I would have checked the jet in there you may have a little junk on it . Mine did
Water got in my exhaust pipe and locked #3. Even had a bag and can on the exhaust and it was running 2 weeks prior but it locked. pulled the head and valves got it free pretty quick and spinning good again with no cylinder damage. Put it back together wired the plugs just like yours because I had to verify I was doing it right after 3 repetitive attempts just to keep my sanity and I'm still getting nothing. I didn't mess with timing or anything just pulled the head and valves. Would pulling the head and valves then putting it all back the way it originally was change anything? I would think #1 tdc would just pick up where it left off and she would run again. What am I missing?
As far as I know pulling head and then putting it back would not upset the timing, unless someone helped you while you weren't looking and spun it around one time.
It's always good to have a parts donor
Still have not completely convinced the wife of that!
@@melsplace4007 you have to make it her idea...... hahahahahaha
Excellent share - new friend here
Thank you, much!
Very interesting
that is simple machinery that will outlast todays stuff.
Yes, sir. The major service intervals are in the thousands and tens of thousands of hours according to what I read.
That's a BIG engine. Bet you can hear that thing thumping along way off. Thanks for the video.
Yes, sir. They were monsters. If it is the 12"x15" version, there are almost 1700 cubic inches per cylinder. Thanks for watching.
That is a international harvester type a I believe. Probably 15 to 20 hp. Throttle governed
Thank you!
Neat tractor. I don't know the really old ones that well. It could be a Reliance as well.
I use GoPro cameras. They stabilize the footage pretty good as a rule.
I was trying to be discrete and had a bad hold.
@@melsplace4007 Yes that can happen, but the GoPros have stabilization. Sure helps cover errors from the guy on the camera.
I saw all the standard John Deeres in Farmall 51 parade video. You showed a real standard tractor with the International 600.
I took that clip just for that machine. Thanks for watching.
Nice show. Lots of nice displays. I liked the horse plowing. How old are your girls?
3 and almost 5.
@@melsplace4007 My girl is 8.
Enjoyed the video . Glad yall got to make it out and stop by the tent . Hey @doublejfarmshomestead he came up and spoke to me lol just kidding . Glad yall had a good time .
Thank you, Matt. Good to see you, too, but don't get me in trouble with Jeremy!
@@melsplace4007 😆
i didn’t know you were there wish we got to hangout a bit but good video hope to see at Carthage
Thanks, Colton. I saw you walking a time or two, but couldn't catch you. Hope to be there.
This is an awesome video. I still hate we didn’t get to talk
Thank you, and me, too. We'll get it next time.
You can probably just replace the entire sediment bowl assembly, although the original ones are better no doubt. I think a Wisconsin sediment bowl may even work.
I've got something in the works and will keep that in mind.
Do you still have the model and vendor of that carburetor ?
I do not, but if I recall, I found it on Ebay. I just checked several different vendors to make sure the part number matched up with the one I found on Weingartz. They did not have one.
That was very helpful; Do you still have it ? Is it working ? I was able to resurrect my 87 Special after some bad gas.
Still have it. I'm trying to track down a good coil. Got one, but it ran for about 3 minutes and quit.
Hopefully you can find another bowl and getting it running soon Tractor Supply usually have some bowls
Thanks, Colton!
I've got a extra bowl if you need one
I might take you up on that.
By means of elimination we get to the root cause.
You've got my interest!
Those close up pictures help.
How did I miss this video series? I'll watch then all! Thanks!
It's been pretty slow. I hope to get back to it soon and it is good to hear from you.
Ive yad to do that a few times. Someone told me about the electric wrenches at harbor freight and i got a coupon in the mail and got a 2500 kb one and it was a life saver. A few years later i got a 5500 lb one and have wrenched up a M and a few others. If you ever need sny help let me know.
I like the hood door, gives it the custom look, new paint and it will blend right in, haha
Something like that, sure. It's a little too ugly, but low on my priority list right now.
Rite on! Fun times ahead, can't wait to hear it run!
Looks like you need a electric winch
Well, yes, but where's the fun in that? I have access to one, but our deep cycle battery for it has gone missing.
Mel Here's hoping you get it running.
Soon, hopefully. I'd like to get it to the Cub-O-Lina event weekend after next. Thanks for watching.
Are you able to roll the cover half way and lock it in place?
That is one drawback to this design, but I've not really had a need for that option at this point, to be honest
Enjoyed the video! I look forward to seeing it run! I'm glad to see people interested in keeping the Old Iron alive. BTW I grew up in northern Moore county NC
I am a fan and hope I can do it justice. That's not too far up the road, for sure. Thanks for watching. I hope to get back to it soon.
You'll get it running no problem. By the look of the regulator it has the Delco 1100501 generator. The regulators like that are usually 6V positive ground only. To ensure it's right, check the wiring on the coil. The + should be hooked to the distributor and the - should be hooked to the switch. Then put the battery in with the negative to the starter and the positive to ground. Then, polarize the generator. To polarize the generator, take a short piece of wire with the battery hooked up, and momentarily touch one end to the BAT terminal on the regulator and the GEN terminal on the regulator. It will spark and then it's polarized and hooked up correctly. Also, assuming that they fully converted it to negative ground, you will have to move the ammeter wires from side to side. My guess, is they just put the battery in backwards, and never even bothered to switch wires or polarize the generator.
Thank you, sir!
I would put it back to positive ground right away if it has the original generator (Delco 1101355 or Delco 1100501) Those 6V regulators are for positive ground only as a rule.
Yeah, I was curious because there was an extra dead 6v battery there next to the machine. Is does have a Delco generator on it. Is it just a matter of switching the leads from the battery?
Sure do enjoy your videos. You’ll get it to running
Thank you! Time is my overpriced currency at the moment. Soon, I hope.
Hopefully you can get it running we’re also in the process of getting my 49 M running
What brand carburetor is that ? Doesn't look like the IH made carburetor that came on the cub .
You are correct, sir. It is a Zenith. Tag number is 11548, which seems to be a (much) later replacement carb number.
It's always something. I'm hoping it's nothing major
Hope it goes smoothly. Are you going to Got to be NC next month
I would like to, but Spring in education is a busy time and my girls end up needing a lot of my weekend, too.
@melsplace4007 boy do I know that feeling
Hope you can get it running look forward to hear it did you go to the benson show? I don’t think I saw you there
I missed it, Colton. Had my little girl's soccer game and a honey-do list. I hope I can get it on the trailer in time to make Cub-O-Lina this year, but we'll see.
Probably no worse than Chinese tires. Name brands are also Chinese. Last set of Goodyear tires on my truck were made in China. I'm not sure how the spindles are done on a Cub. if they are splined, you can sometimes repair them with a piece of shimstock. I think they may be keyed on a Cub, and the keyseat is worn.
They don't appear to be splined, but when I get her home that's going to be near the top of the list to get fixed.
Thanks for the shout out!
You, sir, are welcome.
It was great to finally meet you, been following you for awhile now. Enjoyed the video!
And you! Hate I missed your brother.
Awesome video brother! It was so great to finally meet you!
