So You Want To Be A Voice Actor or Narrator?
Oh this did go live on TH-cam... on my end it didn't look like it. Anyway. Pick up a copy of this book here: www.amazon.com/El-Em-M-Samm-ebook/dp/B0DH8CM54Q
very helpful. thank you
Most Welcome.
Justin -- I just wanted to say thanks so much. I wasn't able to join in live with the time difference from Bulgaria, but I watched this morning and it was so great to hear a bit of my book read live. And learning the ins and outs of the audiobook market was super insightful. Thanks for the community you are building between authors, narrators, and artists!
Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. I appreciate it. I was being honest though, I think your book is very well written, and people should check it out.

I just realized the game audio isn't coming through... Welp.. hopefully I meet these folks again
please do break down a lot of this into individual videos. A lot of info to unpack.
@@monty671 for sure. I have a lot of videos planned, breaking all of these things down. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
I am still learning Reaper and slowly teaching myself. I am a complete noob with any type of voiceover or narration. I have no acting skills and must teach myself breathing techniques so I don't run out of breath while narrating a long sentence. I actually recorded myself reading one of my favorite books. It is 311 pages. It took me a total of about 11 or 12 hours of recording just to read it out loud. Now to narrate it so it sounds good is another thing. I appreciate any knowledge you care to share and thank you for showing me how to do the punch and role with Reaper.
Hey awesome that you are getting out there and learning actively! The more you practice the better and more efficient you will get with the time it takes you to record. I'm close to about 8,800 words an hour at this point, depending on what I'm reading. You'll get there. More important then the time it takes you, is the quality at which you are performing the material. I would definitely focus on that to begin with. The speed and efficiency will come with time. However, keep measuring that time, so you can track your progress. I hope to bring you a ton more videos on not only technical tutorials, but also technique in the very near future. I recommend keep watching videos and learning as much as you can. An audiobook or voice acting coach can also help you with a lot of technique issues. For the breathing issues, I might actually do a video on this, as there is a technique that helps with that. But practice also helps, and prepping your material with breath placements can help too (basically just marking where you will take your catch breaths at). Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
I want to do this as a recording artist for recording over beats. Would this work for that too?
Yeah, I don't see why not. You may have to adjust your metronome settings to your liking. When I was recording music, I usually left it in comp mode, but there wouldn't be any reason you couldn't try it this way. The only advantage of not using this, would be having the multiple takes be more easily accessible in case you wanted something from each run through of your vocals. But Reaper is non-destructive so you could recover them, it might just be a little tedious.
