George's earlier great paintings were awesome but he spent the rest of his career duplicating his dog series over and over again for $$$$$ - we will never know the great unrealized Louisiana subjects artworks he decided to forgo for $$$$ - SAD AND DISAPPOINTING 😢
A heartbreaking statement, and having watched George paint with integrity and passion for his art, whatever his series, I disagree. Many of his Blue Dog paintings, in fact, he kept for himself and never placed them on the market. The Blue Dog is not for everyone, and neither are the Cajun paintings. But George painted for the love of his art, and the fact that he made a good living at it was something he translated into widespread generosity and never took for granted.
@@wendyrodrigue STILL his restricted subject matter (for what ever reason) WAS A LOSS FOR THE WORLD
@@spaceace9680 you might be happy to know that he continued to paint Louisiana landscapes and figurative works, as well as Blue Dogs, abstracts, and other series, for the rest of his life- including the unfinished bayou cemetery scene left on his easel.
I remember coyote blues in lafayette and I loved that placed, I was heartbroken when it shut down but Ill always remember the blue dog paintings they had all around I loved them!

We were super excited to purchase a print of blue dog in the Rocky Mountains last year. We are big fans.
