Parks on the Air can be a year round activity, but you've gotta keep your fingers warm, so when it's Windy and cold it helps to operate from the vehicle. I attempted a triple activation on my mountain bike but I started too late and I got cold so I ended up settling for just activating two summits. I ended up activating from inside my Bothy Bag and I can definitely state with confidence that the survival shelter is a good strategy for activating in inclement weather. #hamradio, #bothybag, #sota, #mtb #mountains

Hamilton Buttes is a great summit for Dirt Bikers and Mountain Bikers. The trails leading up to and down are an absolute blast! I'm not sure exactly how much fun it would be to hike this.

I activated W7W/LC-036, AKA Red Mountain on July 1st of 2024. I ran into a hiker at the top who was both amazed that I rode my bike to the top and was curious about the Morse code I was sending and receiving.

I decided to haul the IC-705 and my Arrow Yagi with an amplifier up a local SOTA summit to see how many QSO's I could make using VHF SSB. Turns out SSB did better than FM!

Today I activated Greenleaf Peak, W7W/LC-104 in Washington State. It was my first CW activation as well as my first SOTA activation using my vertical antenna. I was not impressed with the performance of the vertical and I noticed my signal got out a lot better with the End Fed Half Wave.

I activated W7W/LC-102 on what turned out to be a really weird propagation day. It's a terrible summit for VHF, II had no luck on 40 meters, but then ended up getting into the Portland area on 15 and 10 meters. I wasn't making many contacts, but still managed to get into Argentina and France on 15 meters for some reason. So much wackiness going on.

W7W/PL-004, Hogback Mountain, is a relatively easy 8 point summit that's accessible via a ski lift at the White Pass Ski Area and an additional 250 vertical feet of climbing for probably the easiest 11 points you'll ever earn in the Pacific Northwest if you have backcountry ski gear. Folks asked in the comments for me to detail my End Fed Half Wave matching unit, so I did some things to make it more consumable.
