DONNA SUMMER....my love of Donna began in 1975 with the US release of the 17 minute track of Love To Love You Baby. Like so many I was entranced with Donna and this sound...this music...and especially, that voice. Through the years and the hits I became immersed in the compassion and sincerity of Donna's songs. She soon became an Artist that I had a Sweet Romance with in my heart and my mind. Once Upon A Time hooked me and since then everything Donna has been everything me. All Through The (dark periods) Night I was always with her....rather, Donna was always with me. Donna and her music and what I later learned of her life meant so much to me as I too evolved. Fast forward to my meeting her in 1999 and several times thereafter when I became a recognized acquaintance (fan) and she became more of a person than just a performer/artist. She was my sister's friend in high school so my adoration fulfilled a circle and for this I'm blessed and say There Will Always Be A You.

Bruce gives a heartfelt and moving speech that brought me to tears and opened my heart as he shared a bit of Donna with all of us. Mimi, Brooklyn and Amanda were there, stunning and beautiful as they accepted Donna's much deserved Induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Love her intro....talks about Donna's compassion and sensitivity in her music. "Donna gave everything she had" "Donna is gone and will continue to inspire" And the words lots of us dying to hear: Pleased to "Induct the Incomparable Donna Summer into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" It brought a bittersweet tear to my eyes. You had to be there!

Donna Summer at the Hollywood Bowl sings Carpenters Superstar
The piano player seems wired
Her 1980 ABC TV Special was recorded at The Hollywood Bowl. I saw her perform there in 2008 when she was promoting her new album Crayons. The place was PACKED!! The security guards were saying they hadn't seen the place this alive in ages. Two years later she was inducted into The Hollywood Bowl Hall Of Fame. This was part of her performance that night where The Carpenters were also inducted. What a wonderful melding of two of the most popular artists of the 70's era that night. She also sang Nature Boy and a medley of her hits. She was introduced that night by producer David Foster to rapturous applause. I believe that video is on TH-cam somewhere. They really should release some of these classic moments on her official page with the original audio. I was there and it sounded so fantastic with a live orchestra. God Bless You, Donna...You were one of a kind!! ❤❤
Wow!! Donna Summer could sing ANYTHING...and make it sound FANTASTIC!! One of the greatest female vocalists of our time...Who STILL doesn't get the credit she deserves. Glad I was able to be alive and a kid in the late 70s when I first became entranced with that wondrous voice. Disco may have boxed her in perhaps..But to anyone with a discerning ear you could tell and hear she was vocally gifted. Up there with Aretha, Whitney, Gladys and the rest. And sounded even better live than she did on her records which were wonderful. The family really should put together a compilation of some of her live performances of classic standards like A Song For You, God Bless The Child, The Impossible Dream, Gone Too Soon, Amazing Grace, Celebrate Me Home, Natural Woman, Pearls...and more that I personally witnessed her sing live over the years and was just blown away by. Even this song with Richard Carpenter would be a nice video addition with the original audio from The Hollywood Bowl. She did Karen more than proud. Someone should do the same for Donna!! 🧡💛
The "Queen of Disco" was actually : The greatest Gospel-singer since Aretha!
This is my favorite song by The Carpenters. I got to see Donna perform this live and it spectacular!
Incredible

Such a beautiful woman and a lovely voice. Donna has been in the music business for decades, yet she looks more beautiful than ever in 2010. What a great career from disco to contemporary music.
I remember Donna summer song
Donna sung this beautifully but it was hard to focus on her with Richard Carpenter's peculiar mannerisms. Was this meant to be serious?
DIVA.
Bueno, este MUJERON puede cantar de todo que BARBARIDAD...
Donna Summer had the quality of voice that she could sing just about anything. She could hit low notes, she could hit high notes, and she could hold notes out. She was a perfect choice for this song, and what a great tribute to Karen Carpenter, and the chance to perform with Richard Carpenter. That said, Richard was twacked out and I hope he gets help and lives his best life until the final curtain comes down.
Yeah, Richard sure looked it!
Amazing
Donna left us way too soon, she was only 63, you are loved and missed by millions Donna, rest in God's care Donna. Just wonderful seeing Richard playing the piano, excellent performance.
The 3 GREATEST female vocalists to come out of the '70's: Karen Carpenter, Linda Ronstadt, and Donna Summer. All had great range and powerful voices and could make you shiver when they sang. They are so close in my mind, all legendary. I hate comparing them, but I have to give a slight edge to Donna!! There will NEVER be another like her. NEVER! She was the G.O.A.T (the greatest of all time.)
Agree with you 100%!.. I was there for this night. I had goosebumps the entire time.
Donna...😢
dang...goosebumps from the very first note
I love you Donna, Richard was never going to be the same, as is evident here. Miss you as much as Karen, Baby ! !❤
Yeah, what the heck was he doing with all of those faces?!
Donna was a hometown girl! Fellow Bostonian! It made us feel closer to her. I still listen to her music, especially Song of Independence.
What true love looks like.
Yes. Donna and Bruce were truly soulmates! They were made for each other.
WE MISS YOU DONNA , FOR EVER IN MY HEART, FROM MEXICO CITY EDUARDO ROMERO R.

The man or woman who filmed this moment at the Hollywood Bowl when Donna Summer sang "Superstar", would never make a great filmmaker - he or she can't hold the video camera steady!
