    Hello, i have a small cnc about 1,5x1.5m plasma, but i have a problem with cuts they all have a bevel or its cut on angle but its not consistant one time the left side is good but the right is bad, other time left side is bad and right is good, i am using p80 cnc torch is it maybe the torch thats cousing the problem? is see that your plasma cuts look very good.

      My cuts are angled on the top and bottom sides, I tried a YGX 100 Plasma Cutting Torch and had no luck. Maybe up the air pressure to 7 BAR might help. Hypertherm plasma cutters will solve your problem or go fiber laser. Here is my video of the: "First cut with the YGX 100 Plasma Cutting Torch"

    Hey Ross, when you cut 1/8 stainless steel does the material worpt? Or is it better than using carbon steel?

      That was 2 mm it doesn't warp how ever it does leave a crust that is hard to remove. Carbon steel is best what using a compressor. You can polish carbon steel and put a clear coat over it. If you watch this video it shows how it done. th-cam.com/video/P3ZH03FWTbg/w-d-xo.html

    Ross, I really liked this video. I have been doing about the same thing with my plasma table. I recently cut out 3 inch tall numbers from 1/8" (3 mm) thick stainless plate. I was curious how thick the material is that you were cutting? Maybe you mentioned it and I missed. The settings I used were 40 amps, 60 inches per minute (1524 mm /min), 90 psi. The nozzle diameter is 0.5 mm. I don't have water in my trough but instead use a high volume extractor fan system. I got more slag than you showed and you did mention about filling your tank to the top to cut down on this. Looks like it did too. Did the water make a big difference? Are there any more precautions to take when using a water bath? As an aside, plasma cutting seems to be a fine balance between heat, travel speed, air pressure and cooling. Oh, and one more question. When you pierce the metal what is the pierce height, pierce time and then the cut height? I find this to be a wee bit elusive as the results have an impact not only on the success of the pierce but on the blow back the nozzle may have to suffer. Anyway thanks for the video. Nice work!

    • @rosswoolley2854
      @rosswoolley2854 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The water will help, you might be able to make a small tray to fit in the table just for when you cut stainless. I sometimes cut at the same speed as mild steel it works. What i cut it the video was 2mm. Pierce height is 3mm the cut height is 1.5mm, I have no delay on 2mm and under and 0.1 second on 3mm. Use the smallest nozzle you have, mine is 1.1mm. The water is safe to use so don't worry about getting zapped just use the ground clamp. How ever i did get zapped on time changing a tip once, stupid me forgot to turn off the plasma. it left a burn mark on my hand from the spanner. Yep i thought that was the end of me that day🫀!

      I basically covered every thing in this video for grounding. The only thing i didn't mention was i pour water down the hole next to the ground rod. Plus all the wiring is double shielded and conned to the bus bar of the cabinet and run to the table leg with heavy gauge speaker wire. If that is all done and you still have problems you would be best having a second ground rod next to the cabinet.

    Ross, do you find the anti-collision head 'colliding' with anything very often? I don't have an anti-collision unit on my table and I've had my torch tip drag on the metal a few times but not done any damage. Are they worth installing???

      Hi Rusty, My last video CNC PLASMA CUTTING TREE OF LIFE WITH STAINLESS NUMBERS FOR THE APARTMENT when i cut the numbers it collided with a flip up, restarting the cut might be a problem cause with Masso it restarts at the beginning of the the cut. I think it is worth having for the price of a machine head being replaced is expensive. "I have the mount half way down the machine shaft now and that has eliminated all the wobbling when cutting now. Here is were i bought mine. www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002309902905.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.252.21ef1802Vt44CO

      Hi Valentin, I set my air pressure at 6 kgf/cm / 0.61 MPa. Recommended by Jasic. These are what i use, not perfect but the dross comes off easy. These are the only thickness that i cut, any thicker i get to much bevel on the metal while cutting so that is my limit. @@rosswoolley2854 Thank you so much for your fast response, what is your height used for cut ? How much kerf left after cutting 3mm steel with your 1.1 tip? I dont have any bevel left after cutting 3mm with the following settings : 1500mm/min speed , 1.2mm height , 45-50 amps ,Compressor 0.27 MPA .the kerf is 1.45 mm .maybe you can try this too.i Will upload some video and Photos on my Channel with some tests on plasma , cutting 3mm , 2 mm and 50mm. Thanks Steven, At the moment it is running like a dream, no EMI lets hope it stays that way. I ran a ground wire from the cabinet through the conduit to the other side to the box and grounded it there. That solved the problem. The other ground wire runs from the cabinet to the leg on the far side of the plasma table were the earth rod is but that was not go enough. Go figure.
