This is my venerable Thing-O-Matic printing out stretchy bracelets (www.thingiverse.com/thing:13505) as giveaways at the Seattle Mini Makerfaire last weekend. My highly-modified automated build platform spit out countless bracelets over the weekend without any trouble (this is just a 3-hour chunk). See www.thingiverse.com/thing:103360 for a description of how I got the ABP functioning reliably.

3D Printed Automatic Transmission Model
มุมมอง 1.2M11 ปีที่แล้ว
This is an automatic transmission model I designed and 3D printed (you can download the design here: www.thingiverse.com/thing:34778). This type of gearing arrangement is common in automatic transmissions in cars, though the clutches and brakes and hydraulics that control them are far more complex than modeled here. Also missing is the torque converter. These gears are known as herringbone, whi...

    I cannot find any decent start settings for the slice. I'm new and would love a baseline to start from. I had to scale down about 15% to fit my bed and would love to know your working layer heights etc. to guestimate.

    For those who keep calling this a manual transmission: just as today’s engines have an ECM (engine control module), today’s transmissions have a TCM (transmission control module). He’s just acting as the TCM. Rather than flipping little levers with a hand, a TCM is programmed to engage/disengage certain clutches or brakes in the transmission according to driver’s acceleration demand, engine torque supplied and wheel torque demand. A transmission’s behavior can be changed by reprogramming the TCM, which is how many cars can offer several driving modes.

    I printed one of these on my Ender 3. It works unbelievably well! I spun it up to approx 2500RPM using a motor with a Lego wheel on the shaft. I tried to spin it faster, but when the motor reached 6000RPM (meaning the bearing was going approx 3000) the Lego tire became permanently expanded due to the spinning force and flew off, barely missing my face and computer monitor

    • @rexycontemplates
      @rexycontemplates 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      how did you actually fix the wheel onto the "shaft"?

    • @AJ-Palermo
      @AJ-Palermo 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rexycontemplates If I remember correctly, I put a piece of tape on the motor shaft then friction-fit the Lego wheel on it.

    Nice Work Emmett. Have to say tho, from a trying to follow visually perspective, put a bit more distance from camera (maybe up to 6") and average your overall lighting and perhaps upgrade to 720. That should make a lot better overall definition to your clip. 10 out of 10 for all other effort, nice to see some real effort in a design. Luv it.

    Why would the bottom finger holes be so razor sharp? Horrible design, has cut many people, myself included. Also it was totally fused together. had to wear leather gloves to grip & try and break apart. edit or remove the files

    So you have 3 inputs with 2 states for 1 output, so you'd technically have 8 possible arrangements (2^3 gears) so what happens if you put it into the 2 missing states of this video?
