Canaries, Diamond Firetail and Java Sparrow foraging on cage floor

My colourful canaries and their finch friends all foraging for seeds and chop I put on the floor for them to find. I love seeing them hopping and pecking for seeds.
Large cages always seem to be set up so there is a wire grid for a floor. A bit of head scratching and wire bending here and there is sometimes required to adjust them but I will not have my birds on wire floors. It does mean they need cleaning more often, so I get why the cages come like that but personally I don't like it.

Bengalise Finch singing his happy little song while in a quarantine cage a while ago. I love these little birds so much, every male has a different song, unless you get siblings, they will sound very similar as they have learnt their song from their Dad 🥰

New house at Beak House 😁 Set up a new enclosure today and got everyone ready to all go in within five minutes of each other. The Gouldian Finch mating dance - jumping up and down and singing his quiet little song. Looks comical to us but he wins his lady's favour. She starts shaking her tail meaning she wants to mate with him. It was all going so well till he got so rudely interrupted 😆 I'll be putting the gatecrasher into a different cage, before things get nasty 😬

Some of my beautiful colourful little canaries enjoy some Spring Greens, which despite the name are available all year round and are very cheap. Less than £1 per big bag that lasts me a week. Very helpful when you have lots of little beaks to feed 🥰 I make sure there is a variety of perches in my birds enclosures. My flock of Bengalise Finch with a quick view of Silverbills, Gouldian and Parrot Finch. They love lettuce. It's not very nutritious for them so they don't get it often, just as a treat now and again. Baby budgie with French Moult preening her feathers

This is "Ducky" my baby budgie. She has French Moult. This is a cruel condition that affects babies in the nest, passed on from parents who show no sign of the disease. It can sometimes lead to early death, sometimes the birds can grow feathers back and lead a normal life. There is no way to tell. (The background noise is provided by my Bengalise Finch flock)
