    Thanks Germana for your lovely video Although I'm Italian born and lived all my adolescence in L'AQUILA. Abruzzo therefore knowledgeable of all the Italian traditions that you described to perfection and now that I live in Canada and speak English for many years I command you for your fluency in English , but please allow me to correct you on one thing: you keep referring to us as " Guys..guys..guys.. Well let me tell you it's ok when you are talking to a group of friends to say :Guys But when you talk in your video to people you don't know who follow your channel from all over the world is more appropriate to say : " You all" or my dear readers..anything more general but not you guys is a bit too impersonal..almost disrespectful.. Sorry Germana myself and my colleagues at work were surprised when we heard "you guys" we hardly know you..ciao scusa ma ci Tengo alla perfezione Delle mie due lingue; L'ITALIANO e L'INGLESE

    Greetings from Australia…. I’m Polish living in Australia. Polish traditions are very similar to Italian.with Christmas Eve festivities of all types of fish cooked differently. A real feast followed by midnight mass. Christmas Day a lot of left over food and meat dishes as well. All celebrations continue to some extent until the epiphany 6th January. We visit with extended families and friends. A lot of traditions come because of the Catholic faith. I’m sending a lot of love and good wishes to all Italians. My four children are also half Italian. ❤❤❤❤

    Your presentation is lovely. My mother was from catanzara in Calabrian and my father from Santa stefano quisquina in Sicily. He owned an Italian bakery, so we always had Italian cookies,especially pignoli,cannoli and struffali. We were pretty poor, but had fish and pasta for Christmas back in the 50s when fish was affordable and the greatest was the family being together laughing and enjoying our blessings.

    Natale con i tuoi e Capodanno (not Pasqua) con chi vuoi. The day of gift-gving to children was always 6 December (San Niicolo') in northern Italy and the Epihhany in central Italy (especially Rome) and most of the south. Moreover, in Italian homes Christmas decorations were put up and the tree dressed on the morning of 24 December and taken down the morning after the Epiphany. Finally, as a 78 yr old Italian, I recall that attending Holy Mass ad midinight was central.

      Ciao @tavuzzipust7887! 😊 Thank you for sharing these beautiful memories! Regional differences truly show Italy’s rich culture. As for “Natale con i tuoi, Capodanno con chi vuoi,” there are also variations like “Natale con i tuoi, Pasqua con chi vuoi.” Like all sayings, there can be variations in some words, but the main meaning remains more or less the same. The important thing is coming together with your family at Christmas. Buon Natale! 🎄✨

    Hi , I 'm a bit confused ! 2 things 1) is " CHE " , a Conjunctive. or a Relative Pron. in Subjunctives ; 2) does CHE belong in the Main clause or the Subordinate clause ?? Grazie

    • @ItalianwithGermana
      @ItalianwithGermana 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ciao @niccolowadia3761! Thank you for your interesting question! 'Che' can be both a conjunction and a relative pronoun in Italian grammar. When it is used with a subjunctive, it is always a conjunction. Try to replace 'che' in the examples of the video with 'il quale' or 'la quale'. The sentences won't make sense! This means that in this case, it is definitely not a relative pronoun. 😊 To respond to your second question, 'che' belongs to the main clause (e.g. Penso che... / Pensavo che...). Hope this clarifies! Un saluto,

    • @ItalianwithGermana
      @ItalianwithGermana 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ciao @niccolowadia3761 and thank you for your question! Given the definition that a verb is considered reflexive when it has the same subject and direct object, this combination doesn't apply to causative verbs, which - on the contrary - require the subject to be different from the object. Notwithstanding this, in the major group of reflexive verbs, you may also find the so-called 'verbi reciproci' (e.g. abbracciarsi, incontrarsi), which require the subject and the object to undertake the same action on each other. In this case, the causative verbs may be combined with these 'verbi reciproci'. An example: 'mi sono fatto abbracciare da Maria' (literally: I made Maria hug me). This could sound like a strange example, but it is not grammatically incorrect to say. Hope this responds to your question! Ciao!😊

    Hi Germana. One quick question about the pronunciation of the “E aperta”. I noticed that some, but not all, native speakers seem to pronounce “E aperta” like an “ei” sound. For example, in words like “potevo“ it sounds to my ears like some are saying “poteivo” or in “crederete” it sounds like “credereite”. Is this a regional difference or is this how the “E aperta“ should be pronounced in standard Italian? Grazie Mille.

    • @ItalianwithGermana
      @ItalianwithGermana 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ciao @8717d 😊, thank you for your message! So, it is a fact that each region in Italy has its own specific dialect and consequently pronunciation. For this reason, you may easily find people pronouncing a word with an 'E chiusa' in the north, and maybe find others pronouncing the same word with a 'E aperta' in the south, or the other way around. I can certainly tell you that in troncated-stress words like 'caffè', the 'E' should be 'aperta', and in words like 'perché' the 'E' at the end of the word should be 'chiusa'- These are just two examples that I hope will help you clarify the pronunciation of the E.
