Real time demonstration of the bandsaw cutting some steel at 2 different blade speeds. Just a cheap 14 tooth 0.025" thick blade.
Delta 14" metal cutting bandsaw
มุมมอง 3.2K5 ปีที่แล้ว
Demonstration of older Delta metal cutting bandsaw with back gears and step pulleys. I don't have a tachometer for the slow speeds nor a metal cutting blade at this time. Just a visual indication of the speeds in back gear.

I have one of these, a 14" Delta (Milwaukee? not sure) with no operator manual. Was afraid to mess with it until I came across a howto video. Have yet to figure which model....there are no as yet detectable numbers, letters or name tags. A small surviving piece of paper label can make out Delta Tool is about it. I am missing the upper four step pulley. Are the two step pulleys the same? Thank you for a much needed tutorial.

Thank you for doing this video. I'm looking to claim some more shop floor space, and have decided to sell off one of my saws (wood/steel), or at least move one out to the storage shed. This set-up sure looks good. It seems like for me. I am either having wood days, or steel days. So making this switch once a day is easy enough. I have done some early testing myself, and have found that with so little belt wrap-around on the small motor pulley. It sure is easy to make that belt slip, when doing heavier metal cutting. I'm going to look now, to see if you have done any updates videos on this since December 2018.

Hi Steve. Thanks for watching the video. I haven't had any updates, just use it quite often. About the thickest I have cut is some 7/16 12L14 steel. Use a good metal cutting blade and take it easy. Good day.

Thanks for sharing! Just got the same bandsaw where you can only use one belt at a time its 1946 delta millwaukee 14 inch. I wonder if you know where I can get a manual for this type of bandsaws. Thanks!

@@bruceferrero8178 Can you tell me what you did order from McMaster ? I'm assuming there is a matching pulley on the motor ?

@@kunkelwood I don't remember the pulley numbers. Just found a couple close to size shown in owners manual, with the correct size bore. Manual available at vintagemachinery.org

Thanks Bruce It did a nice job. I wish I had your saw. My neighbor has one--it will eventually be in a video.

Glad to help out! Now I will probably have to open up the gear box and clean it out and replace the bearings. I bet they are are pretty bad. Take care.

Good video. You are the only one to give a detailed video of this model of delta. Now cut some steel. I want to see if it will cut. My neighbors is not satisfactory for cutting steel.
