Prairie Diamond Horsemanship
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 6 ต.ค. 2021
Hi I'm Abbie! I'm a teenage horse trainer from Colorado, USA. I help horses overcome their fear so that they can become empowered to be a gentle willing partner with humans. I compete in Extreme Mustang Makeovers and other horse related events. On this channel I showcase the journey of the horses I train, some hacks and how to's, and show many of my horse adventures and equine shenanigans. I started my training journey in 2018 with a fearful mare who I named Koda, and since then I have trained several horses with a different difficulties and backgrounds. In late 2021, I started my own horsemanship business, Prairie Diamond Horsemanship, as a 15 year old, so that I can make helping horses into a life long career. If you are a horse enthusiast, Mustang lover, or just love animals in general, this is the channel for you. Be sure to subscribe to stay up to date on our shenanigans!

Horses Eating Hay for 3 minutes, original audio! | Equine ASMR
Hi guys!
In this video, you’ll get to see several of our horses munching on their hay with the original audios for your peace and satisfaction. I find the sounds of horses chewing to be a relaxing and soothing sound, and you may too. It’s also fun to watch their cute noses as their mouth work. I kept it short for a quick calmness but to not hinder your day. Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoy!

Fun Fact of the Day:
Did you know that naturally, a horse would graze for 16-17 hours a day? This is the equivalent of up to 72,000 or more chews per day! No wonder their jaws are so strong! This also plays into how incredibly important dental work is for horses, and also why hyoid and TMJ health is such a crucial component for a horse’s ability to digest.

Overall PSA
No helmet/non helmet bashing will be tolerated in the comments. If you have genuine questions about the helmet topic, those are fine but I’m sick and tired of people bullying others over a personal safety choice.
No Bureau of Land Management bashing will be tolerated. Is the system perfect? Absolutely not. Is it much better than Australia’s “management” system? Absolutely. I’m a proud mustang owner, and I’m sure glad mine aren’t starving to death and living in fear out on the range.
All audios are sourced from several different places, and I do not own any of these songs’ copyright. All copyright rights belong to the rightful owner(s).

Another PSA: This is an educational and entertainment channel. Know your horse and your own ability. Do not attempt anything I do if it’s unsafe to do so. I don’t want to claim that I’m a professional but I’ve been around horses for 18 years and have been training my own for 6 years, so my calculated risks have a bit of experience behind them.

Moving One Of Our New Heifers Back Into Her Pen Quickly And Gently Off Horseback

Hi guys! In this video, I try to show you a little bit of moving an escapee heifer back into her pen. The fence is definitely not the best, and the bull had learn how to pop the staples off the posts with his horns, resulting in loose wires for everyone to slide through. Luckily most of them were really easy to get back in, but 5 decided she wanted to explore (which she did get supervised explo...

Hi guys! In this video, I show you guys our new set of auction horses… or are they actually horses??? Jk, I know what they are but since I hardly ever show anything but horses on the channel, I thought it would be a goofy way to introduce them because let’s just be honest, my videos are “mid”. I knew about Curly, the blonde bull, and knew that we were getting 2 heifers, but that’s it. You can i...

These two were the best first trailer loadings I’ve ever had or seen, they were awesome. Also, keep in mind that both are BARELY halterbroke. Sam has had a few (less than ten) leading lessons, and Buck only had his first leading lesson a few days pri...

Thank you!
The difference in your whole position when you got in the habit of elbows in is really cool. I love seeing your improvement
I noticed that too! Something else I noticed was the fact that she started wearing a helmet more.

Caption from the Facebook version: I've been riding horses all my life, and training them for 6 years. 3.5 years ago I really started getting serious about building my skills as a rider and ultimately horsewoman. When I was younger, I had gone through probably hundreds of books, videos, and articles on training and horsemanship, and I was stuck in the more horse side of horsemanship, neglecting parts of the human side. 4 years ago I thought I was a good rider. I will say I was somewhat decent, but I didn't know how much better I could be. I mean I raced my siblings while riding bareback, won every time, and never fell off, what more to riding is there than staying on and riding fast? I thought I rode hard and did cool things. 3.5 years ago I took on my first mustang, Chester, resulting in the start of my TH-cam journey. With a TH-cam channel, I obviously had to film myself. The first video of my riding that I have on my phone is that first clip in this video. Watching back on that video pointed out all the flaws in my riding. I was unbalanced causing Koda to be unbalanced, my hands were all over the place, and it overall was not cohesive. Other videos, like the spin pointed out how forward I was and how much of a leaning issue I have. I actually did fly off that mare because of my imbalance. 3.5 years ago I decided I was going to get better and learn as much as I could about the act of riding. I didn't have a riding coach to teach me how to improve, so I took it upon myself to watch so so many videos of correct riding and rider position and coach myself. The western world surprisingly has a lack of quality educational videos on rider position, so I mainly focused on dressage videos because what I was wanting to achieve is a pillar of the discipline. Conveniently, I also gained access to English tack around the same time, so I self-learned the fundamentals of English riding and classical dressage at the same time as relearning how to ride. It was so hard but it was so good for my development as an equestrian. The realization of my inadequacy as a rider fueled a huge positive change in my horsemanship, my confidence, and my life in general. I'm still learning to be a better rider and horsewoman, but that's a never ending pursuit of improvement. Today, I encourage you to find one little thing in your life that you can improve even slightly. You may find that it makes all the difference. 🌻 It's also fun to see how I progressed in my colt starting. The one spinning and the gray are the only horses in this video I didn't start. 🙂 #horsemanship #horseriding #progress #riderposition #education #SelfCoaching #horse #equestrian #improvement #motivation #mustang #video #reel #selfimprovement #riding #horseriding #dressage #western #horsebackriding #strivingforexcellence #selfawareness

I feel like a lot of people could benefit from helping themselves improve even a smidgin in one area of their lives. The Butterfly Effect is real
I love your honesty too. This short story reminds us all that we don’t have to have a perfect journey, we just have to strive for improvement.
I love your message. Everyone can coach themselves
Hopped on the trend 🤷♀️
It’s a catchy song!
I love that baby blue joined up with you and Molly to go to work
Cool 🙃
I love this type of vid, can you post more of these please? Also keep posting the rest of your stuff because I love it
Sure! I’ll definitely try to make more of this type 🙂
Great video!!!
Thank you, so glad you loved it! It was a fun one!
Have you started your content schedule yet? Saw your rough draft on your ig story. I think it was a great system. 🙂
Yeah I’m trying for Tuesdays and Fridays be some sort of long video, and trying to intertwine the long video days with posts and shorts as I get that content.
Also, I am trying (keyword: trying) to put together an equine ailments and conformational issue series which I hope to pre-record 52 of them to schedule out to be posted once a week across 2025. I have most of 1 script made, but it takes a long time due to how much research I’m doing on it. I’m also in the middle of a website redesign, which it’s taking a while, but it will allow my business to be found online, rather than just word of mouth, so it’s been a busy time here recently.
Awesome! Well I’ll be here every Tuesday and Friday, as well as any other time the notification that you posted something pops up.
and also good luck with your website and also I hope your local business ventures succeed! I know you had a lot of business before you moved so I hope that you get that back 100 fold!
I love your series idea too. I think that would be a successful plan if you can execute it well, which I’m sure you will. You’ve grown a lot in your TH-cam journey and I’m so proud of you!
Ahhh 😌 horses are so cool
👍👍👍👍
You're the best trainer ❤
I try my best!

Looks like hot chocolate weather ❄️
I definitely is that season!
You're the best. This week would have been miserable without you.
No problem 🙂
Very nice nothing like the first snowfall of the year,👍👍👍
It’s definitely fun to see the change in seasons and I’m very thankful for the moisture. It’s time for the land to rest and for animals to reset their metabolisms, which I find the nature and design of the great rest and reset of everything beautiful by design. Hickory definitely is not a fan of the snow, but my other two and pretty much the rest of the critters seem to be enjoying the weather.
@@prairiediamondhorsemanship thank you for commenting back I wish you all there a good winner I have one horse named Duke that's the same way doesn't always like the snow to
Hahahah this is great
Lucky it is 84 here😢
We had nearly a blizzard yesterday and now have 10” of snow, and it’s drifted to 2 feet in some areas. It’s a lot different than I’m used to, this in my first winter in the mountains 🫣
Great video
Still love this vid sm

Thank you, I definitely think of her daily.

I’m definitely making good use of my 4 wheel drive 😅

Good video very good views and things from your trail and very good musical with your video👍
Since I couldn’t fit it into the description- Fun Fact of the Day: Did you know: - “During the spring and summer months when the sun is shining brightly, chlorophyll is in high demand, so trees crank it out in large quantities. This overpowers other pigments in the leaves and makes them appear bright green.” - “The beautiful yellows, oranges, and rusty browns that we associate with autumn are present in leaves year-round-they’re just outnumbered. The yellows come from xanthophyll, a helper pigment that assists the chlorophyll with photosynthesis. The oranges come from beta-carotene (the same one of pumpkin and carrot fame), and the brown shades come from tannins that protect the leaf tissue.” - “In addition to the yellows and oranges, it’s common to see leaves with tints of red and purple in the fall. Unlike the other colors, however, which serve more active roles, these shades are typically the result of sugars and sap that’s trapped in the leaves. This process produces anthocyanins, which give the leaves their red and purple tints.” Source: The Colors of Fall: 6 Fun Facts for Your Autumn Hikes by Rachel Cavanaugh. www.columbia.com/6-fun-fall-foliage-facts.html
I don’t think Chester knew “being chased by escapee mini cows spawning out of the brush” was apart of his job description. I didn’t film it because I was slightly prepared to die but Chester handled it perfectly. He definitely likes these little cows much better than the full sized ones.
Good video you did a good job I've had to do the same myself many times on my own can your horse did a great job too you all have a great day now
Omgggggg sooooooo freakkkking cuteeeee
Good video and nice addition of animals to your ranch
I know another comment said you had some attitude, but also from watching many many of your videos, I also know you kinda have RBF sometimes. I don’t see the attitude, I see more of right before you asking Nugget for space, things got where they could’ve gotten hairy with you and Buck in the trailer, as Buck had turned around without you, potentially lining you up for a kick or getting drug. That also could have lined Buck up for a bad experience. You handled that situation amazingly, saw where Nugget’s energy was too much for everything going on. Everytime Nugget got closer, Buck’s ears got more tense. Ear tension is so much more obvious in mules than horses. When you asked Nugget to leave, his butt was towards you and Buck putting the both of you in a compromised spot, especially for a cow-kick, so asking Nugget to leave was a safety measure in that situation too. He was messing with the camera which is what most are going to see, and obviously you don’t want him breaking stuff, but I saw you seeming more concerned about the massive rear end right there by where Buck needed to go lol. You were very polite in asking Nugget to find something else to do, and then I observed you decompressing from handling those situations in the form of RBF.
Great video!!! I love seeing the realness and that things don’t always look the same, and sometimes things go better than expected. Also love how the herd is comfortable with you enough to be cheeky. I know a lot of horses that panic at the sight of the trailer. Those horses all seem to be drawn to you and the trailer enough that you have to set boundaries. That’s a huge accomplishment in my opinion. I also love your boss mare energy. A herd of horses will always trust their boss mare. The boss mare has to be discerning, some horses know better and require stronger boundaries, others need more grace as seen in contrast of the mule colts vs the big horses. The mules got some leeway in them crowding and such, where as the horses you were firm but kind. Great job young lady.
I love the way a few of the herd casually walks around while you train the mules 🫏to load & off load. It shows their trust in you & Nugget was ready for whatever🐎. He’s smart enough to know you had the camera posted. 😅
@@s.e.rolfllc354they were all extremely curious, and Nugget loves to be in the middle of absolutely everything lol. Prior to filming this video, he jumped in the trailer all by himself twice, acting like he was confused why we weren’t going anywhere. He’s a big goofball and has a lot of personality once he warms up to you.
I'm sorry, you are such a good trainer, I spotted one thing, I trained for 18 years, started at five lol, when you corrected nugget you got frustrated, I saw it in your face, demeanor and the impatience, in that case just stop...listen (birds, puppies, baby laughs) or think about things that make you happy, pet him so he knows he's still a good boy and what he did didn't cause the anger, you're mood travels down that lead rope!
Yeah, definitely not great with my attitude sometimes 😬 especially with dominant horses. Thank you for the feedback! I’m always trying to improve!
Good video I agree with you I've never had a horse or a mule get in as well as this one did with you have a great day now
Beautiful horse!
Good video also good music two with it👍
