My matriarch gets a lot of use, but no noisy pots yet (crossing my fingers it stays that way). F5 Deoxit is awesome product, not used it on my matriarch…but have rejuvenated tons of other gear with it. I trust it over any other product. I’d try that before replacing any pots.

@@RobeMusic that Deoxit F5 didn't do anything at all. Should I open it up and spray it directly at the PCB level?

@@syntheshwara hmm. I’m sure you took off the knob and sprayed it directly on/into the shaft of the potentiometer. Normally you have to ‘excecercise” it as well….but I’m sure you probably did all that. If the F5 had no effect at all then it may be something else…bad or cold solder joint or something else. I’d Emil moog support, tell them you used F5 with no result. See what they say.

Hmmm. I’ll have to take a look….try to be as accurate as possible with patch diagrams…but of course make mistakes. But…my studio was flooded and matriarch is in storage as I rebuild. I’ll check it out as soon as I can.

We made that video kind of as a joke…both synths are awesome. But it’s like comparing apples and oranges…if you want a polysynth, it’s a no brainer, go for the prophet.

@@RobeMusic appreciate the response. I went to perfect circuit yesterday to try some synths out & I couldn’t really understand the Rev 2 nor the prophet 6 (which I really like the sound on) but I’ve never owned a synth so idk what I’m really doing. On another note I did get to try out the sequential pro 2 & that was really fun I very intuitive, unfortunately they didn’t have the pro 3 to test out but definitely leaning towards pro 3! Thanks for your videos, they really help us make critical decisions.

I thought about that…as thinking of putting on wooden side panels. It’s been a while since I took it apart…I think you’re correct…it’s pretty easy. But I’d check with moog or one of the people selling custom side panels.

Velocity affects all 3 envelope generators on DFAM (VCA, VCF and VCO EGs). I’m going to get more into that when I finally get around to part 3 of the deep dive. But simply, velocity amount increases the amplitude (height as you say) of each of the envelope generators….after physical eg amount knob positions…but velocity is bipolar so can reduce envelope amount. Center position on velocity sequencer is 0 (physical knob position)

@@RobeMusic I'm asking how it works. If you plug an LFO into the velocity input on DFAM, with a long enough envelope you would see that LFO modulation if it's using a VCA between the envelope output and the amount knob like the signal flow diagram in the manual suggests. I'm just wondering if that's the case or not. For replicating the effect in a different modular.

oh...i misunderstood your question...thought you were talking about velocity sequencer. Yes, it functions the way the manual says it does. Again, I'll be getting into the CV inputs in the next DFAm vid. good luck with your reproduction

I haven’t used FL so don’t know if it has a sequencer as powerful as the one in Logic. But it should all be possible, just not as streamlined. I’ve done the same in pro tools (not the most midi friendly DAW) and got it to work, it just wasn’t as streamlined

The one I use in the video is a fairly new iPad Pro….cant remember number…but I use it on my old iPhone and ancient iPad. Never really experienced any issues…besides the odd crash on startup from time to time.

That’s certainly something to think about. The issue is…each in/out can be used for countless different things…it would be a LONG series…but something I’ll consider. I do do private lessons. Agreed. Though I've not seen many (if any) people that can bring out the beauty of the Matriarch quite like Robe Music.

No I don’t use FL studio. Mainly Logic or Studio One….actually more and more with Studio one these days
