    I had this at one point but it was pretty noisy so had to get rid. It was very user friendly I agree, sadly I just bought a second hand G3n and hey what the heck its extremely difficult to use unless its me getting old.

    I agree. So I decided to pick the guitar back up after nearly two decades. It's a piece of me I've been distracted from for a long time. Though this time I was going to take it seriously. I took classical lessons and quit because of money and taking myself too seriously. My playing style and tastes changed over the years. I was going to keep it simple this time because when I was young and stupid I bought a Steve Vai signature JEM for $2200. It sat under my bed for 12 years until I sold it. Still got ahead of myself last year and bought a Harley Benton Fusion Silver Sparkle. Not breaking the piggy bank, not a brand name but still too nice to get all sweaty and grimy.....So.... I reminded myself "Simple". I looked at Telecasters. Two pick ups, simple, train myself to use my tone controls. However, because of the one I wanted being sold out I looked around some more. Never thought I'd actually buy one but I have a Monoprice Jazzmaster clone awaiting shipment. I plain old, naturally finished slab with a couple P90's to get spanky with. Love Stapleton's sound on that Dodge Ram commercial. Plus you can shred with them (probably at the cost of some pain-heavier gauge strings)Can't wait. When I've had it a while I'm going to put the best pickups I can in it. They already come with good Wilkinsons. Anything. Keep making videos. Thanks.

    Hello. I have the G3X zoom pedal and I want to put it through the amplifier's effects loop. It's the first time I do it. The problem is that i don't really understand how the cables should be connected. I have also noticed that the pedal has two outputs R and L/Mono. Which one should I choose?? By the way, I heard that I have to turn off the amp emulations. Do i have to disconnect something else. ?? Greetings

    Fantastic review. I just got one! Btw..u may know that already but zoom gx3 apparently also can slide to other 3 pedals easily by foot. U need to press 2 pedals buttons at the same time.

    More up-to-date pedals may offer more features and sound 'better' but years of competitive marketing eventually results in feature bloat. There comes a point when the all this additional complexity results in option overload and decision fatigue that can ultimately smother the creative process. Sometimes less is more and I feel the G3 and Multistomps achieve a great balance between cost, effectiveness and complexity.

    Amps and drives sound way better in the G3n. But the physical design of the G3 is much better and pedalboard friendly in my opinion. Those flat switches on the g3n are terrible if you want to use it inside a case style pedalboard. And with 6 switches available, it takes years to get to the tap tempo function. And you can't program it any different. With the G3 at least you can set an external tap tempo.

    I've had the G3 since 2013. Multiple amps and guitars since then but this thing has stayed by my side. My go-to reverb and delay box. Also - your point about it acting as a backup amp is incredibly on point.

    Hi love this review of the Boss Katana 50 I decided to order one. Might take a while to arrive due to the pandemic, still have to wait for it to arrive to New Jersey. I think you may have answered my question is to clarify. So I know you mentioned that you use te BOSS foot swich to control two channels. One Distortion channel and channel two for Distortion with delay. How about your Boost for the leads and solo's? Any boost pedal put in front of the amp for a Boost? I have also received feedback some others use the clean channel with distortion pedals and the have a Clean Boost for the solos.

    John Demko Great practical use perspective! Wish there were more real world reviews like this. (fyi - With the free Version 2 update you can get 4 channels on the 50w.)

  • @CRIMSONTIPSBAND
    @CRIMSONTIPSBAND 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hoosier Daddy Man, I am so glad I found you. I had to sub. Great video. I just ordered one. A 50 watt. Do you use effect pedals or the effects included? I'm so glad you mentioned it's loud enough and works. I'm also a big SS fan. I have a PV special 130 that's great, but must weigh 500 lbs.. ;-) Anyway, thanks for the video. I can't wait to get mine and go thru it.. I do use a Morley Steve Vai Wah, but that's all I plan on using besides maybe chorus and delay and verb from the amp. Hopefully I can do that without all the computer tone software. I also need a foot switch. Are you using one? Are they hard to use ?

  • @CRIMSONTIPSBAND
    @CRIMSONTIPSBAND 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hoosier Daddy Mine will be here tomorrow. It has cersion 2 of the software installed so I believe it has 4 channels. I will only have my morley steve vai bad horsie 2 wah and the amp hopefully from now on to gig and record with. I'm thinking if I like it as much as everyone says I'll buy 2 more. Maybe run 2 at a time in stereo and have an extra for backup. We shall see. Or I might get an orange crush 35rt and run it with it's cool distortion on the shred songs.

  • @CRIMSONTIPSBAND
    @CRIMSONTIPSBAND 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Robot X I love my Boss Katana 50. My set up is so simple now. With the onboard effects I only use the Boss foot switch, Crybaby wah, mini pedal tuner, and a mini clean boost pedal. I like the clean boost because it essentially doubles the amount of channels I have (I don't have to switch channels to make a lead part jump out). I can use this amp for low level bedroom practice, rehearsals, or gigs. For size, versatility, features, reliability, and price Boss has hit it out of the park. The days of dragging around expensive, bulky, heavy, finicky, tube amps are over.

  • @CRIMSONTIPSBAND
    @CRIMSONTIPSBAND 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Robert Phillips Katana 50 is a very capable and giggable amp for sure! Used mine on a weekly basis for bars, small clubs.. I concur with your assessment! I just picked up the katana artist last week and holy smokes what a tone beast.. lol the artist is so loud you can barely here my drummer, and he hits hard and heavy!!

  • @CRIMSONTIPSBAND
    @CRIMSONTIPSBAND 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Bradles Great to hear that you have had so much success with this amp! When comparing or deciding between the katana 50 and 100 did you notice any differences in tone or sound?

  • @CRIMSONTIPSBAND
    @CRIMSONTIPSBAND 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Guitar Debris So... the question is, why did it take so long for an amp maker to deliver what we wanted all along - small, light, good sounding, loud and affordable? The technology has been around for years.

    Any recommendations on Solid State models you could gig with that are worth checking out?

    • @CRIMSONTIPSBAND
      @CRIMSONTIPSBAND 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right now there are so many out there that are pretty good, you have a long list of choices. I think what you really wanna do is know whether you want a combo, or just a solid state head with a cabinet, and how much power you want. And consider your budget. Personally, for the last few years, I have been using a Peavey Bandit 112. The older "RED STRIPE", to be exact. BUT the modern ones are just as good. They take pedals well. Its 100 watts(with a single 12 inch cone) and I usually have it set at 50 watts(you can set the power level you want), and turned up to 4. In a local bar type place that's PLENTY loud when not going thru the PA. And in bigger bars and halls, you are 100% sure to be going thru the PA no matter what you are using. And I assure you, sound men do not like you to go balls out loud. We have been in small bars to large concert halls, the setting I used above, stayed the same even with a mic on it, thru a beefy PA. Anyway they go about 400 new, and used you can get them for half that. SO if someone spills beer on them, or bangs them around while transporting them(AND THEY WILL), you wont have a heart attack. For the record before that i used a Fender Stage 112se. FOR YEARS!!!!!! Neither amp ever made so much as a hiccup. Thank you for the follow up question. Best of luck with your search!!!!!

    What are your thoughts on "modeling amps" or effects processors such as the "pod"? Do you use any outboard effects?

    • @CRIMSONTIPSBAND
      @CRIMSONTIPSBAND 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      When it comes to modeling amps and the things like the POD/V'AMP/FRACTAL, I use them in slightly different ways. All our studio recordings are thru a modeler. Its faster, and gives a more consistent sound than miking up amps. I dial in what is somewhat of a Dual Rectifier sound, and use that. Live I always use a solid state amp, and bring a ZOOM G3X along.(although sometimes I would bring out the old BOSS pedals, just for fun). The G3x sounds just as good for effects as the Boss pedals, and if my amp dies i can plug the xlr from the sound board right into the G3X and turn the amp sim on. That way i can play the show thru that, with no amp, right thru the main board...in a worst case scenario. Just covering bases, ya never want a show to end due to tech difficulties. Anyway, modeling amps, i have heard some great ones.........but i keep the amp modeling in the pedal, just in case i need it. Hope this helps somehow and thanks for the question.
