Sand Crabs and Blue Swimmers in May - Bloody Oath!
มุมมอง 1.3K14 วันที่ผ่านมา
Peaceful day out on the water near Port Adelaide in South Australia, putting the crab nets in for sand crabs & blue swimmer crabs. As it’s late May, not sure if many crabs would be active but I came home with a good feed. Used the Australian salmon frames from a previous fishing trip and they did the trick in attracting the crabs.

Caught some good size salmon using a small 75mm hard body lure. Great fighting fish for their size, it was a short but exciting session with a few lessons learnt.

Fishing for squid for a few hours in the morning, launching from St Kilda, motored out to a few favorite spots but had to move around to pick up a nice feed. Small to medium size this trip but still great eating size so not complaining.
A day targeting snook & King George whiting in the pristine waters of South Australia.
มุมมอง 3.3Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Fishing in the pristine waters of South Australia and targeting the common snook and King George whiting. Trolling for snook for the first hour & then as the tide picked up, turn to catching King George whiting using squid I caught on the last outing. Leaving the St Kilda boat ramp late morning I was rewarded with perfect fishing conditions with the whiting on the bite for the start of the run ...

It was a perfect day to fish in the beautiful waters around St Kilda in South Australia. I was fishing for southern calamari, or squid for short, and the very sought after King George Whiting. Beautiful calm seas, clear water & plenty of sunshine.

Fishing is not always about catching fish!

A perfect day for fishing in South Australia, launching the boat from the St Kilda boat ramp, tried a few spots in the Port River and then went out to deeper water. Great views of Adelaide Hills on this calm clear day. I was targeting King George whiting and squid but today was a fishing day, not a catching day.
Perfect weather for a day on the boat!

Lazy Man's Kayak - Part 1 Trolling Motor Installed

In this video, I modified a Watersnake electric trolling motor and rear mounted it. Using cables for steering from the kayak foot pegs. Also a cable lift for shallow water operation. Extended the head unit & mounted by the seat for easy speed control access.
Early Morning Fishing.

Fishing for King George Whiting at St Kilda channel in South Australia
มุมมอง 12Kปีที่แล้ว
A Day out fishing in the St Kilda Channel in South Australia. Caught a good feed of King George whiting with the bonus of a 40cm Flathead.
Nice feed mate! Noticed you were using j-hooks this time, do you usually mix it up?
Hi, I always use j hooks for my main line, circle hooks for the unattended line if used.
Nice whiting there mate, good feed
Thanks 👍
What are those red wormy plastic things
I put a short bit of red tubing on each hook with 2 red beads, red seems to attract the whiting. I have seen other colours used but never tried them.
thanksfor all the landmarks mate, good video, love dipping cockles, squid and prawns in aniseed essence just turns whiting into easily led puppies.lol
Glad you enjoyed
nice feed, what is your favourite way to cook them?
Hi Anthony, beer battered is our favourite.
Refreshing to see another fisherman who cares for his catch and to dispatch them humanely. Well done 👋
Thanks
You're killing it mate... I'm due for an RDO if the weather works for us. Good to see the Inku Squid Tackle glow tiger working for ya!
Hey Matt, sounds great, look forward to it.
Great work on another nice catch, i always look forward to your videos. Im still trying to figure out this area and when are good times to head out .
Thanks, I always fish at the start & end of the tides, this seem to work for me.
@@blokeonaboat7305 Interesting, do you notice the fish go quiet for a period at the top of the tide? I was looking at this Sunday and wasnt sure when i should be trying.
Yep, they seem to be active the last hour or so of the tide and when it stops, they do go quiet.
Thanks for your content BoaB, always great watching - can I ask what breaking strain is the paternoster rig and do you use the same line strength for your hooks?
Hi, 3.5 kg fluorocarbon line on all my whiting lines normally, always leave the drag loose on the reel incase I get a 40cm plus one or double header.
@@blokeonaboat7305 ok.. thank you
Nice work man 👍
Thanks 👍
New at fishing just wondering how far do you let the bait sink?
Hi, bait all the way down as that is were the whiting are, good luck with the fishing
Great informative video. What brand/size circle hooks do you use? And whats your recommended rods?
Hi, not sure what size the circle hooks are, the J hooks I use are No 4 thin worm. Rods are 1-3 kg rated & about 6 foot or so, that's a personal preference as it doesn't really matter, especially on a boat were we don't need to cast far.
@@blokeonaboat7305 thanks!
You have brought back happy memories fish the same area with old mate TC cheers
Glad you enjoyed
Looks as though you had a beautiful day. It was flat as. I like that you explain what's happening, time of the tide etc, thanks for a good video.
Thanks 👍
Nice fishing Greg have a gooday and Godbless
Thanks for watching
Good one Greg! Nice feed!
Thanks Matt, nearly out of crab meat so will go out soon to try for Crabs in June!
Another nice feed for whiting! What brand and specs are the white rods you are using? And it would be great to see a vid on how you make your rigs.
Coming soon!
Nice one mate, never tried Sandy's before. Do they taste same as Bluey's?
Hi John, they are not as strong as blueys, a bit sweeter I would say.
Well done 👍✅
Thank you 👍
well done mate who would of thought the crabs were out deeper
👍
Nice plump sand crabs for winter. What brand crab nets are you using? And I noticed you had a fishing rod but werent using it, wouldn't there be whiting in that channel?
Hi, they were a good size, nets were ones I've had for years, not sure where I got them from. Did use the rod to pass the time and got 2 undersized King George whiting and a puffer.
Dont suppose you would thow in some coordinates so i could take my son out on a jetski some time.
Most spots i use are popular so there are normally boats in the general areas where you can catch a feed.
Good fun on the light gear. Good feed.
Yes it was!
Nice one again mate.
Thank you! Cheers!
A big Salmon I hope someday I join you I want to learn how to Catch fish ok Greg be careful Godbless
Look forward to fishing with you.
Good feed there! Would be interesting to see how you cook them..
Freshly caught salmon, cooked with beer battered is the only way to go.
@@blokeonaboat7305 is that dipped in egg first then batter or without?
no egg, only use egg/milk mix if I crumb them.
Great catch 👍
Thanks for watching.
Nice session on the salmon trout
Thanks for commenting
Good session in choppy conditions. What do you usually look for when finding suitable areas to drift? Like cork weed grounds mixed in with sandy patches?
Yep, spot on. Thanks for watching.
That looked really shallow, how deep was that, could see weed clearly
thanks for the question, between 3-5 metres
@@blokeonaboat7305 right! Must have been nice and clean water. Thanks for the reply
Hi love your videos I've just moved to Adelaide from Victoria would like to know size and power of your boat I have a 4.1 CC polycraft hoping you might share some GPS marks With me to get me started on my Adelaide fishing journey thanks macca
Hi, my boat is 4.3m Stacer with a 40 hp mercury. Depends what area you are in, I focus mainly out from St Kilda, I look for area with ribbon weed and sand patches for whiting, best of luck.

Hi Jun, thanks for watching and all the positive comments
Nice feed and a perfect day! Do you usually fish from low tide when it starts to rise?
Yes I do!
Love your content mate , what is that on your hooks may I ask, and do you burley up for whiting or just cast your rod only ?
Hi and thanks for watching, prawns & squid were the bait & no burley.
When you turn right leaving the ramp channel and heading out , whats it like to navigate , anything to be aware off ? Cheers
No, just follow the channel markers out.
Nice catch mate mate 🎣👍
Thanks 👍
thats a good haul, alot better luck then ive been having out there
Thanks,
looks great, Mondays weather was superb. Do the puffers hang around all year out in this area or disappear a bit during the winter?
Don't see many puffers normally, Trumpeters are the main issue during summer in the shallower waters.
@@blokeonaboat7305 Wow , every time i fish there is see plenty. I think its because i use burley perhaps.
Yep, could be. normally burley isn't necessary.
Nice work on the whiting, that water looks awesome, I'm trying to get the time to take my boat out - fingers crossed this weekend.
Good luck!
Nice quick session! What depth were you targeting the squid and whiting and do you usually go deeper during the colder months?
Hi, 3-5 metres usually, stay in the same spots all year round.
@@blokeonaboat7305 that's handy, I find out West Beach way it's necessary to go deeper when the weather changes.
Hi Greg I like to fishing the way that you do nice be careful Greg Godbless
Thanks, it's a lovely way to spend my time.
great video.... I'm looking at launching from Saint Kilda in the next couple of days - haven't been there for years - how do you find coming into St Kilda channel at low tide? I have 4.55 Stacer
It's all good, plenty of water, just be careful at the end of the rockwall, its shallow both side of the channel until the 2nd marker.
