From the ABA 2001 Video Collection.. "A Fistfull of F-111". Wayne Allwood's legendary jump onto, and then off, Sydney's Centrepoint tower... Feb 22nd 1982. Wayne you are a legend!!!
In Jeb Corliss book he said on Dwain's death he lied to the organizers and the agreement was he would fly safely very high over the bridge and crowd. But Dwain was obsessively competitive and jealous of others and he did not want to be out done by other jumpers during the event. Dwain was a world class base jumper but had VERY limited experience in wingsuit flying . There were children and families on that bridge and no way the organizers would have allowed a jump that put people on the bridge in such danger. When Dwain hit the bridge in the watching horror of children his leg was ripped off, he died of blood loss, and was probably conscious for sometime. It was his ego and need to be in the limelight that got him killed. He also said many times if he died he would want everyone to see his death. I guess he got his wish. I just feel for his family. It was not doing what he loved that killed him but his EGO, which put the lives of everyone on that bridge, including children at risk!!
