Trust Me Not (Hero & Villain Duet) - oc animatic
*IMPORTANT: they are siblings. Absolutely do not ship them.*
This animatic has been sitting in my files, 95% done since 2021. I originally meant to post a few illustrations along with it, but I decided to just forget about those and post this so I finally have it out ^^;
For a bit of background for the characters:
Taren and Ashula lived in an orphanage as children, until their maternal uncle showed up and offered to take Taren away. Taren accepted his offer, went to live with him in his mansion, leaving Ashula behind (the uncle didn't realise she was his niece, only Taren knows this truth). He was then educated and trained to fulfill this position of a "hero" in the future, for political and other reasons.
After Taren left, while she was sad, Ashula didn't resent him. The orphanage burned down some years later and she was left to grow up on the streets, eventually losing her arm due to being accused of a crime she didn't commit. I won't say much here, but Taren's negligence played a part, and it wasn't until that moment for her trust and belief in him to completely shatter :)
Taren thought she had died, but she survived thanks to help from others. They meet later on as adults. Ashula is in her early-to-mid-20s, Taren is in his late 20s.
Ashula is an amputee, though I have yet to design a proper prosthetic arm for her. These designs were done fairly quickly, so I didn't do much research on how amputated limbs work/how they're attached, but I've definitely learned more since creating this.

Okay, I have never seen colored subtitles on this platform EVER. HOW? What sorcery did you use?
@@joesplace2960 bro it literally took me five hours to figure out and get them done, I finished editing at midnight and stayed up until 5 battling the yt subtitles🙏😭 I mainly wanted the subtitles both up and down for when they both sing, and foolishly thought this was a function on TH-cam, and manually wrote the lyrics on here... until I realised how crappy TH-cam's subtitle function actually is 💔 I looked up a tutorial and had to get a separate program for it (thankfully free), and to manually write and pace everything again... but hey, I got them colours :') Basically just look up "how to get coloured subtitles on youtube" and you should be able to get an easy and comprehensive video on how to do this! You can also change fonts using the program.

To anyone reading this in 2024 (or later), I'm here to let you know I'm back to working on this and hopefully get to finish and upload it soon, mayhaps within this year ☺️❤ I could've left it all colourless and plain to finish it but no, my perfectionist brain really wants to finish this according to my original plan (aka every panel is coloured according to the SSSS chapter colour schemes). So, that is in the works and will be uploaded eventually! Despite Minna going down the route she did, I still do adore these characters and my time spent with them and the fandom, which is why I've really been wanting to finish this, sort of as a final tribute ig? Either way, it's gonna be angsty af, let's gooo

I had to use a separate program for the subtitles, I had originally done them in TH-cam itself until I realised TH-cam doesn't let you customise them at all, and since I had to add everything manually both times, it took me five hours or so to finish uploading the animatic 😅 I had looked up "how to add colour to TH-cam subtitles" and just clicked on the first video I saw, I believe the channel name is "I Tried This". They have easy to understand tutorials on how it all works, as well as a link to the program (which is free, by the way).

Ahhhh thank you!! Hopefully I'll get to making more content of them in the future, I have a few animatic ideas for other songs involving them (including a few different ones about their childhoods and past with different perspectives), and hopefully I'll find some audios to use for shorts content as well 😁 Honestly I feel you with Ashula, she could kick me and I'd probably thank her 🙏 (Funnily enough, Taren deserves some villain appreciation as well - I hope some of those intentions came across in this animatic 😉)
@@sammalsikuri3828 Yipee, more content :D That is why I love oc so much, we have the power to make them do everything we want, and as a content creator you can either melt other's heart or CRUSH THEM I totally FULLY SUPPORT YOUUUU, but don't overwhelm you with that as some pepole I know- I just read the description I LOVE EVERYTHING EVEN MORE NOWWW, AND NO IM TOTALLY NOT OVER HYPED BY THIS It's obviously easier for me to see Ashula point of view, but i don't doubt that Taren is also a complex character

I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to anyone who has ever commented on or shared this lil animatic of mine anywhere. ❤ It was my first "actual" animatic I ever did, and while there are many parts I wish I could redo, I learned a lot while working on this. During these past two years, many have asked about the backstory of the characters. Back in 2019/2020 I had plans to continue with this storyline with other animatics, so I felt as if I didn't need to write it out. However, as the years have passed this story has changed, and I'm fairly certain I won't continue with this. So, while it may be late, I thought I'd finally give a bit more context to these characters. 😁 Ps. I have multiple animatic ideas I'd like to do someday, and have one half-finished with entirely new characters. So, if my laptop gets fixed within the next few months, you can look forward to a new animatic somewhere in Summer 2022 🌱 STORY/BACKGROUND/CONTEXT The character we follow is called Catherine/Caty (Kay-tea). Her original story was similar to that of Anastasia, which is partly why I was inspired to make this animatic. She used to be a princess, part of a royal family, until they were attacked and war took place. She was the only one of her family who survived with her life. I had plans at one point of making an animatic with her with the song "Monster" from Frozen the Musical, so one can guess she had similar struggles to Elsa: she had powerful magic that was easily harmful to the people around her, but it was also other people who feared that part of her. The power isn't apparent in the animatic, as when I made the storyboard, I thought it wasn't relevant to the main idea I had for the animatic (which was basically recreating the scene from Anastasia but with my own characters). Yes, the spirits that lead her to the ballroom are those of her siblings, which is why she was so desperate to go after them. And, while I didn't draw them in there at the time, they left along with their parents and the other spirits at the end. The man Caty dances with is left hanging at the end to indicate that he is not the same as the other spirits - he, however, is not the same as Caty either, as he is still fainting away, albeit slightly. As for his identity, he was the older brother of Caty's husband Daniel. I didn't have a clear role for him in the story (apparent from me not even remembering the name I gave him), and he ended up being a mix of both "good" and "evil" deeds. I think that was all that was the relevant info for the context/story of the animatic! Quite simple, maybe some would've hoped for more, but it is what it is. I'm going to make an animatic exploring the new story ideas I have for Caty and people around her when I'm able to, so this definitely won't be the last you see of her. ^^
