9800x3d MSI x870 tomahawk 🔥 burning
มุมมอง 4.1K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hi I want to do a put a quick video and explaining what happened yesterday when I try to install this motherboard. This is my 6-pc that I built I was well aware of the Reddit thread with all the burnt out motherboard the two that were posted I made 100% sure that I installed it correctly I seated it. But still had this result either I am returning the motherboard or maybe if Gamers Nexus or rea...
Damn man this is a bummer got this exact same combo and both are arriving this week, hoping everything works out for you
Maybe your cpu socket was bad, bad plastic inyection, and your cpu wasnt properly seated cus of that. Or you placed it wrong and then did force on top of it and deformed the socket. for what we can see in the pictures
I had problems with the b650 mag tomahawk on my 7800x3d, got a x670 steel legend and issue fixed.
Waiting on my Tomahawk next week. I've RMA'd the crappy Asus ROG HERO Crosshair x870e. Frrezes in BIOS when I try to update......
little wiggle. hahaha. I heard it first time this term on placing cpu. you cant do that. esspecialy in am5 socket you definetly cant do that. I have the same motherboard and cpu. works very smooth.
@@SnakepitChannel i got that from ltt
Sadly I have viceversa issue.. my gigabyte x870e doesnt want start, perma black screen, so I just give it back and ordered msi tomahawk, and I have got stability issues and perma 08 code.. so Im thinking to sand it back again and just got Asrock taichi at this point... Very unlucky to upgrade my new build
same code 08, i think that is a firmware update thing that they need to fix
I have the same mobo with a 9950x. Works great for me. Wonder if its a cpu issue or a board qc issue
Bro cannot do 1+1 💀
This video is the evidence that you handled the CPU and socket very roughly and may have damaged the pins.
Noob 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
He definitely put it in wrong 🤦🏾
Well please elaborate on what he did wrong then, if you are so sure!?
Bro this video atmost make me regret and also made me worry about it since i had the same mobo and just 3 days ago pair only with the 9800x3d as a first build and thankfully i did it well now I had to make it run games without a gpu
ı am using same moterboard and same cpu but ı am good everythinks good and süper
I just got same cpu and mobo and now Im afraid to build it :D
dont be, my second mobo worked perfect, i went back to a gigabyte aorus , i wish i could tell you what i did wrong. i really dont know
I just build my first with this combo 3 days ago lol I made sure I follow the instructions and check if everything was Allright before installing the cpu
Did you end up doing the build?
@jessewake2087 yes, and it works great
As I said, I was scared... but I didn`t rushed to be sure all is good and connected. MOST important to keep always urs PC HORIZONTAL position when building it - mobo, cpu, cpu cooler, and GPU! I can`t watch some videos then showing to ppl installing GPU in vertical PC position, it`s horrible!
any updates on this?
Keep us updated!!!
If you do research people have had problems with loads on the 9800x3d..
Hello, I am a French user and I had exactly the same problem as you. In my situation, yesterday November 21 I assembled my computer which consists of the same motherboard, the msi x870 Tomahawk and the 9800x3d freshly received. After unpacking and installing the motherboard a few days before that, I had initialized the Bios by USB following the usual protocol advised by msi. So yesterday I only had to proceed with the complete installation. What a surprise when I found myself with the famous C5 code... Impossible to change that, I moved the Ram several times but no different reaction and like you pins were like deformed or damaged, where we are supposed to place the 9800x3d processor. So I wanted to reclassify the bios with an older version and I ended up with the permanent 00 code! impossible to modify this even by using other usb keys and less powerful ram (i use for this configuration the corsair 2x32go 6000 MHz / z 30cl). after spending 10 hours on it yesterday i finally gave up and ordered an equivalent version of the Gigabyte brand. having seen a lot of forums dealing with similar problems on this Msi x870, i think that the problem simply comes from this card which has goals and various problems. Msi disappointed me.
You never mentioned using thermal paste!
Because the cooler was probably already prepasted.
Send my Board back because randomly i‘ve got no picture when i turned my machine on. Only CMOS reset solved the problem for some days
I installed the 9800X3D with a brand new X870e TAICHI Lite and I had the 1 stick of ram only working issue..but I tested it and only 1 of the actual sticks worked and the other wouldn’t at all even by itself. So I ordered a replacement ram kit and then it worked perfectly. Seems I just had a bad ram kit. Everything works great now with low temps
Got that also. First i put one. Boot. Restart add number 2 and works.
I had the same motherboard didn’t get a boot at all did u return it and get the same one or different brand ?
i got a gigabyte aorus x870 and that works perfect
@@gaminginstilllife9429 with the same cpu?
great build❤
is the 9800x3d your first experience with a lga cpu?
Those pins look like a stray finger poked them.🤫👍 RMA the board and cpu.
"I did a little wiggle" CPU said bye bye. End of story. In 24 years of PC assembling i never "wiggled" CPU when placed on socket.
🙄
It's this the one where he already bent his sh!+ b4
I did noticed that you pushed down on the chip after it was already seated in the socket. Once the Cpu is seated - normally you wouldn't " Push - Down " on the cpu before closing the cover. It might not be the problem but most of the time CPU sockets are called (Z)ero (I)insertion (F)orce { ZIF }. The CPU cooler would normally be enough pressure after the CPU is in the socket. Sorry that your CPU and MB got damaged.
the latch applies way more pressure then me just touching the top, I just do what all the vids online say to do, make sure the cpu is seated
That’s a massive bummer. I just built my new pc and we all have hiccups but not burnt pins. Yikes, return. Or just get a laptop
Did you closely inspect the pins before placing the CPU? People have had bent pins out of the box through the years. Looks like a bad board and/or socket.
@@rpergrem i looked but didn't look close enough
LGA sockets are complete ass.
It's the only way to stack contact that densely together. We'll probably never see a CPU with pins unless the manufacturer finally figure out that those 400+ ground pins don't have to be all seperate. Just make 1 single big ground pin in the center and boom: we go from 1800 pins to 1300 pins.
@@Nico_0900 Yeah they are still ass though 🤣🤣 Hopefully they do figure out how to put the pins back on the CPU or at least make them thicker so if they get bent the person can fix them.
Its crazy to me that you build 6 pcs, and still think the socket is "very hard to press down" and your placing your motherboard on the one and only spot you shouldnt, the antistatic bag thats designed to keep the static on the outside, but you put your mobo there, it could have shorted something.
they were all am3 and 4.... the bag was not the problem. good point thou
How is the bag supposed to short anything? There's no power connected to the motherboard. And yeah, the socket is, compared to other sockets, VERY hard to press down (I also buildt like 7 PC's so far and can confirm this). When I buildt my first am5 system, there was also nothing working with 2 RAM sticks at first, but after reseating the CPU in the socket, both sticks worked fine and even with 6000MT/s EXPO. I had also used an MSI board so I would suspect that MSI has some quality issue with their contact pins. In this case, unfortunately, the current bearing pins were also affected, thus the socket was damaged.
had the same screen at the beginning when i started my AM5 system on a gigabyte board. Was confused at first, but after i pressed "y" the PC booted up normaly. So since you also got that screen i guess its normal.
Yes..bent pins will stop you in your tracks....RMA that board..now if you did it..that's human fault..you may not get a replacement
Just return the board and get another one or get a different brand, i have the exact same board with 192ddr5 6800 with no issues posting and a 9800x3d. The other thing you can not do is put the cpu in the palm of your hand as the oils from your hand and fingers will interfere with the pins, always hold the cpu on the edges. These things happen DOA , malfunctioning boards that is why these companies offer warranties nothing is a guarantee it will be perfectly working, there is always a slim chance of getting a bad board.
i got another mobo and have zero problems
@@gaminginstilllife9429 What board did you get?
Bro I feel for you. Getting your new stuff and feeling so sure you did everything right, yet people won't stop doubting cuz two other guys made mistakes installing their CPUs. Hope the replacement process goes smoothly for you.
Sorry to hear this, I have the same rig but the MSI Carbon and when closing the retention bar it did not feel real smooth, more like nashing, if that makes sence. Good luck.
One pin is clearly bent and not in a way setting a cpu in socket correctly or incorrectly would cause. 3:03
Just return the motherboard, I understand that you think you did it correctly but something must have happened like dust or hair or some debris got in between cpu and motherboard and burned those pins
maybe but i really did try to do this careful and the right way.... but you never know right
@@gaminginstilllife9429 yeah, dont worry about it, it seems like you did everything right, it shouldnt happen again, is there any discoloration on the bottom of the cpu?
@@Eddie_Li yeah my new board is running perfect I don't know I guess that MSI board had something wrong with it even though I was super careful and try to do everything by the book
I have same mb and cpu. Everything is fine.
Looks bent pins there. Is the POST code going or not?
Was the socket inspected before install? It's hard to see over TH-cam but it almost just looks like bent pins
yes it was, all i did is set it down and lock it in.... not sure how this happen
using the same mobo and cpu.. not a single issue. temps are insanely low on the 9800x3d
So all good with the GIGABYTE X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI7? I just order the 9800x3d with this board. I hope it doesn’t catch on fire!!!
as long as you drop the cpu PROPERLY into the socket unlike the first few redditors did, you're fine
not really, this mobo have wifi and lan problems and error 08 codenwindows bug, all this after last bios update.. hope u r more lucky
I have the same motherboard as you with the same cpu and my motherboard, and cpu is working fine just like everybody else. You probably have a bad board
I have the same motherboard and I think my x870 tomahawk wifi works correctly
There is something going on with msi tomohawk boards and this cpu. I had the x670e tomahawk and it was working with very high temps. I switched to asus x670e-e and low temps.
@killerbsting1621 really? Wow... I got a gigabyte aorus Elite and now everything works
@gaminginstilllife9429 yup! I know for a fact the tomohawk boards are a ticking time bomb with the 9800x3d, i was using my tomohawk and 7950x3d for awhile with no issues but once I swapped in the 9800x3d really high temps. Luckily mine didn't burn or cause physical damage. I think it's luck of the draw
@gaminginstilllife9429 let us know here if you hear from GN
I'm lucky I didn't burn my house down. I removed cooler almost right away. My new board works perfect out of box
@@gaminginstilllife9429 did you try to install the cpu while your desktop was vertical or flat?
