I think you chose exactly the right green to colour the uniforms but ruined the effect by making the coating to light over the white undercoat. Even after the shade coat the green is too light, I assume that was a speed paint. If I may, I would suggest a grey undercoat so that the uniform adheres more to that dark green the uniforms were actually coloured. Just a suggestion though.

I find when I put a layer or two of the grim black speedpaint over a pure black primer/thin basecoat it gets this super matte black that just seems to absolutely swallow light, which I find absolutely perfect for my guys.

Great work. The prices for the metal kits are outrageous. But the old plastic stuff is a baragain. Especially if you buy from a 3rd party store. I decided to use a differnt way and cut the KotR on Foot bodys in half to kitbash my Knights. Also Foot Knights with the old bodies look so much better :D

To prime it, can you use matte black spray paint?

I do the opposite and I use magnet paper. I use hot glue and a washer on the base to also weight down the minis (this helps with tall minis like banners and with the stands getting magnet paper I can cut them out to match any size I need.

i have a small gripe with this technique that I'm sad he didn't address which was the pooling at the bottom of the mini. if you look on the skirt of the uniform at 2:12 you can see the wash pooling there giving it a heavy shadow on that specific point. now of course 2 foot butiful rule applies but still

Don't, Dont, Don't paint the eyes ! (13:05) Beginners think it adds the 'wow' factor that the eyes are painted but in reality two splodgy fried eggs the size of the figures entire cheek make your figures look totally amateurish and goofy. Trust me, just leave the eye area below the peak of the cap dark, it will look a lot better- and it's even quicker.

If i wanted to do this paint scheme but instead of army painter products if have to choose between Biel-Tan green shade paint from citadel or hexwraith flame contrast (speed) paint from citadel or a 3rd option also another shade paint- coelia green shade from citadel…….which of those 3 would be the best green to use?

i would have thought the wash would reactivate under a speed paint, nothing beats an air brush but i certainly understand the struggle of not having one, or even not having both a black and white primer, looks like a painted mini to me and that's leagues above some unpainted armys ive seen, nice tech

I believe Picton wore a blue civilian overcoat with a black top hat at Waterloo coming directly from the Duchess of Richmond's ball in Brussels. His figure is included in the Warlord Epic Generals pack. Nice painting!! Artillery looks great, so does the mounted officer. Have fun, and be well!!

This is actually very smart, but I think these two technics should be used together! The slap-chop method is great for something like armor that should have a texture, while the splash-dash is great for clothes and other smooth and things. I think this is revolutionary!
