Copper Inquarter features precious metal related videos, specializing in the art of gold refining using the copper inquartation method and its many advantages over the silver inquartation method.
ADVANTAGES OF THE COPPER INQUARTATION METHOD:
- No worrying about recovering, losing, and refining any silver.
- Silver can be recovered and reused indefinitely, but offers no monetary advantage as copper still needs to be used to recover this silver.
- Takes a little longer to dissolve, but there is no need to recover and refine any silver, which takes even longer.

I feel like you have to check your stock pot. I just ran 100 grams of good pins (not great, but nice) and I got well over 1 gram. I haven't weighed it yet, but I've seen enough of them to know it's at least a gram after cleaning and very pure. I use 50% water, 50% nitric 2x, clean foils, then AR Nitric and Hydrochloric, filter, drop, AR again, filter, drop. And it's fast, with clean gold.
Can we convert liquid nitrogen to nitric acid
You would need a way of converting the pure nitrogen into the nitrate ion which would be very difficult with boil off and such

I dont have alot of nitric acid so rather then disolving metal i used aqua regina to disolve gold plating then poured off to use on more stuff.i plan on rinsing pins to catch any chemicals left

These CPU gold recovery videos always amuse me. Destroy more than £100 worth of vintage CPU’s which are gaining value by the day, then spend all that time, effort and supplies for only £40 worth of gold. Doesn’t make much sense to me but 🤷🏻♂️

I feel this is a good method to recover silver from gold refining by the direct AR method. The silver chloride that's formed can be filtered and saved separately from the chloroauric acid, and later batch mixed with the 1:1:1 ratio described in the video. I would just do it in a large graphite crucible and pour into a cone mould. Great technique thanks OP.
May I ask one question ❓ I have watched your video throughly that you didn't use HCL to make aqua regia to dissolve gold into the solution, did you?

I'd like to get your opinion, concerning an adventure of mine. I know a area where semi trucks park. The parking lot is slanted perfectly to concentrate the particulates that are blown from the trucks smoke stacks. Those stacks must be cleaned every 70k miles or engine problems occur. Those particulates are the black soot that comes from the combs that have 2x's the amount of PGM's then cars do. I believe the several pounds of soot that I've found contains an amount of PGM's. Hold that thought. I've watched sreetips take car combs, place them in a bucket with muriatic acid and add bleach to bleach the PGM's into solution..and then bring them back out of solution later in the process. I've tried that process and it works. I was able to recover a significant amount of black material. Now having said that. Can I get any opinions you might have. (please)
The black soot that comes from the exhaust? Where is this soot getting deposited and concentrated for you to be able to collect it? On the ground? Doesn't it just go in the air?
The soot comes off the combs. It starts there. When a truck's stacks are cleaned. The temp is the same temp that cinerates the PGM's to the combs. @@copperinquarter
There's a tangible black particulars that gather and block the combs process. These are burned off manually or auto..at every 70k miles. There's piles of it and I'm going to mine it.
@@copperinquarter After I extracted the first amount of black powder I stopped. When I have enough I will send it out for further refinement.

You are so smart. Go straight to metallic silver is better than converting it to siilver-nitrate. Using Lye and Sugar probably looses a lot of gold.
Silver Chloride is easily synthesized by metathesis: combining an aqueous solution of silver nitrate (which is soluble) with a soluble chloride salt, such as sodium chloride (which is used industrially as a method of producing AgCl), or cobalt(II) chloride. The silver chloride that forms will precipitate immediately. You can use Nitric acid on metals to dissolve silver into solution making Silver Nitrate. But Silver Chloride will stop the chemical reaction of trying to put gold into solution. So use Nitric first to get the Silver and base metals out, then pour it off to separate it from the gold. Then add HCL to the Silver Nitrate to make Silver Chloride.
I mixed my acid 68% with some lite salt, cornstarch and brown sugar it turned red and then I left in a stainless steel sink outside overnight and it turned green and my sink had corroded slightly what happpend?
Stainless steel sinks (unless it’s specified) are made of the cheapest possible “stainless” steel and will not hold up to nitric acid. And by cheap, I mean price AND quality.

I know you are saying that it is in a bubbler so there is no spark. Thus the H2 and O2 explosion would occur outside the bubbler. that is why the fume hood must be running at all times to not let the gasses explode.

From the air, in water vapor... H2 is a gas. I agree. I was talking about what would happen if you were electrifying water H2O and did not have a separator. Like an HHO generator mixes the two gasses instantly and should be burnt instantly. Adding pressure to both H2 gas and O2 gas would surely explode into water vapor. @@ageofengineering159
A pure H2 gas will not explode unless it is mixed with about 30-40% O2 gas.
If you put soap in the water to create bubbles. Then ignite the bubbles. If they burn slowly it is pure H2 gas. If H2 is mixed with O2 gas then the bubbles will explode with a bigger POP. N2 gas is harder to catch on fire but when it does it has a triple bond and it explodes more violently.
H2 is produced on the - negative terminal. O2 is produced on the + positive terminal. And if you have salt ( NaCl ) in the water it will produce Chlorine gas Cl2 on the positive terminal. I would like to know how to separate O2 gas and Cl2 gas.
