After watching some liberty demos I decided there was a maneuver I wanted to give a try. Here's my way of breaking it down for me and Gideon to understand.
Teaching Your Horse To Read Your Body Language//Active vs. Passive Pressure
มุมมอง 2318 หลายเดือนก่อน
Its vital for your horse to realize that tools are not meant just to add pressure. It's the intention we use and engery we put out when using them. I made this video in the first week of training Ducky. He's been ridden before but just wasn't used to connecting to people or watching what their body language was saying. He came across a little entitled, the world was his. We do love a confident ...

I’m working with my 3 week old foal. I don’t have experience working with foals previously. My foal, Juniper, kicks out sometimes. I realized today I need to get her going with halter training. Time is just zipping by. Thanks for sharing your video. It helps a lot!
i like this method! when do you wean your foals? mine is 4 months right now so i’m trying to learn different methods and different months of when people wean!
Seems trailer loading should be a basic part of foal handling. This video is helpful. Suggestion might be to load the mare in and out several times while foal observes. This would help desensitize the foal to the clanging noises of the trailer.
Oh it is for me! I guarantee my customers that all the foals will be able to stand tied, handle feet, lead independently, and trailer load independently when they are weaned and ready to change homes.😊 Good suggestion👍
What a beautiful colt!!!
Heather, good job teaching the colt not to rear up on you!❤
So endearing to see you with your filly you have wanted for years@
So wonderful the way your filly and past foals are learning trust by your handling them!
And no, I don't have a tail🙈 it's just my braid hanging...I have long hair😂😂
I can already tell she's gonna be spoiled 😂
Really?? How can you tell?😂😂😂

That palomino can buck
Very appropriate song 🎶
I agree that your horse can turn! You are a good rider and trainer ❤
🙈 *Promosm*
I’m already ready for spring and it’s not even the end of January!
Thank goodness for a tree stump to mount back up on when out trail riding.
What breed are the horses?
These are quarter horses that I'm raising.
Beautiful baby❤. I didn’t realize Gideon was a stallion. Gotta love Randy Travis’s song.
Yep he sure is! He makes pretty babies.
Ok. I’m going to ask. How did your pelvic get out of place? Sounds painful.
Haha not totally sure...too much strain and then riding a client horse English, while it wanted to bounce around was kinda the last straw.
It takes a while for a pelvic to heal. It’s an important pivotal point of your body. I hope you get better real soon.
This is so sweet! Looks like a lot of fun. 😊❤
That looks like soooo much fun ❤. What a well trained horse 🐴 !
Aw I love this ❤
It seems every YT channel has a lot of negative; to just down right mean; things to comment. Please keep uploading your videos and I really think your channel will grow!
Thank you! It's been on and off lately with videoing stuff😅
I watched a video on TH-cam and it was to be -50 in Montana and they were showing the precautions they took for their horses to prepare for the extremely cold weather. I would like to visit MT or PA, but in the summer 😊
Our winters aren't that bad here normally. I just always want one good snow😁
Hi Heather. Do you live in Montana? You are brave to canter in the snow with a horse that isn’t paying attention and slinging his head. Glad you two had fun and were safe.
Nope we're in PA. I probably wouldn't do that in the snow with just any young horse, but I know Gideon and I knew how he'd act. He really doesn't go fast and its very smooth even with his bouncing around.😆 You can see I dont get knocked out of place really. Hes easy to stay on. And he's not out to get me off, he was just excited and been cooped up in a stall. The footing was good and fluffy, not slick at all.
@@heatherlehigh3992 You are a very good rider and you know your horse. I on the other hand haven’t ever ridden in the snow. I hope you and your horses stay warm! I enjoy your videos ❤️
Is Gideon a stallion?
The constant "meow meow" at the back. XD
Haha yes!🤣 the cats are never far away! They're my faithful buddies🩷
That was an awesome stop! This only happens with good training.
Thank you! His momma loved to stop and he gets it very naturally. Comes from good cutting and reining lines.
She looks like an athletic cow pony now!
That's what her owner's hoping for!
Yes for a two year old he can really get those back legs up underneath him ❤.
I'm so so excited to ride her! Thank you so much for helping me out!
Thank you for this! Glad gradual is working!
I have a horse that acts like that
He is a good fit for you.
Thank you! He keeps impressing me more and more! I use him in lessons and he's a trail pro. But boy, he's got a motor! Love my lil auction horse.
Video is amazing .🙂❤
Yes! Jesus paid it all!!

Why are u rubbing the flag on your horses face
Its just for desensitizing. So that if anything ever gets over his face he doesn't panic. Teaches him to stay thinking in bad situations. 👍
You look like your floating in the saddle 😂. You ain't seeing me do that 🤣
One day, one day😉😉
Your horse is named "Holy?" Interesting, why did you name your horse holy?
Hey, yes! My horse's names are very important to me. When I went to buy Kadosh I was looking for a very specific type to be able to deal with kids and give lessons. God pointed Kadosh out to me at an auction barn (I never buy at auctions) and he has been absolutely perfect. But part of "Kadosh or holy" is one set apart for a sactified purpose. And that's what I intend for my boy. He's special and he has a special purpose.
@@heatherlehigh3992, That's wonderful! I love the scriptures in Isaiah 6 where the Seraphim are declaring God's holiness and where in the Mosaic Law where it says that "You will be holy for I am holy."
What do you do when they kick? Ignore or correct?
Some of both depending on the situation. If it's playfully running and throws a kick that's a little differnt than it turning and specifically aiming. Babies don't have any grid for what is respectful and what isn't so you have to start doing something to draw those lines. If I see a kick coming but I'm not holding onto the baby, I will use the cotton leadrope and swat him. Kinda shocks him because he doesn't know what that's all about yet. Other times if I'm holding on, I chase the hidquarters away from me. My babies adore being with me, but I have safety boundaries they need to understand so if they get sassy and disrespectful/overly playful I push them away from me and out of my space. You definitely don't need to wait till they're a couple years old to start setting boundaries.
He did VERY well!!!❤❤❤
Thank you! I have personally never met a stallion as gentle and easy going as my guy. He just turned 4 but I've been riding him and even doing complete tackless for almost 2 years now.😊
@@heatherlehigh3992 Congratulations on your achievements with him!!! I hope he continues to doo well!!♥️♥️♥️♥️ Id love to see more videos of his progress!!!
@@singlewhitefemale1707 check my youtube I have a series on him as starting my first stallion😊
@@heatherlehigh3992 I'll definitely do it!!❤️❤️
Oh, wow! So adorable!!!
Beautiful horse and song
How is your new mare bred? Did you get a stallion report so the baby can be registered? Cute little red dun! You are so cute! You bring me way back to the days when I was working with my horses in a dress and head covering.
She's foundation/ranch lines specifically Blackburn. So nothing fancy it's just something I thought would cross well with my stallion Gideon. Yes they always make sure there's stallion reports sent along and I'm getting him registered. Do you still do anything with horses?
@@heatherlehigh3992 Yes I am a former member of The German Baptists but now Im in California. I have a mini stallion and raise POAs and rescue auction horses.
👍❤👏👏👏👏😁
Is Hershey a paint horse how sweet why are putting a bit in her mouth that's why I don't like horses
Gid Gid!
Good video. When you say round penning, what does that entail?
Well, typically roundpenning is me standing in the middle of a round pen, asking the horse to connect, and give me two eyes. First thing I ask for is consistent direction, then consistent speed, then correct change of direction. (Turning towards me) Join up normally happens in the first session and if it's a hard case at least by the 3rd session. They really learn to watch and respond to my body language, to trust me and get a good idea what respectful behavior is. Also that rest and release happen with me when they are in a thinking state of mind.
