Are those cylinders stock 50mm or big bore 52mm? Seems like the porting is limiting the rpm lower than I desire on my cylinder. I’m going to mill the cases .015 and use a .005 copper gasket to get me to around .027-.030 … Seems like with the right carburetor , coil and exhaust these China dolls make decent power. Before the oiler gear ⚙️ stripped/sheared and I lost lube to the bar/chain it was performing as well as a stock 572xp. With a lil more work I hope to get it to pull a stock 500i or better. 😊 I got the woodstove choochin so Im definitely “feeling da heat” 😂

I have the same step in the 372xp 76.5cc big bore. I just turned a wooden mandrel to just under 52mm and affixed some emery cloth to its face. Only thing you have to be careful with when using the wooden mandrel is have to clean the drum and cylinder repeatedly and make sure no sanding grit gets stuck to it. Because it can scratch and possibly ruin the plating.

Is that a metal clutch cover? Where did ya get it??? I want one for my 391. I have a 391 too and seems like it likes a richer tune still 4 strokes a bit unless I really put some pressure on it in the cut gonna try slowly leaning it out a little more , but a few times it was so lean it wouldn’t even cut which I think because I tuned it in pine but then went to cut hard oak and it wasn’t having it until I richened it back up a good bit. We also have a very similar muffler mod on our 391’s do you feel that it helped with the power? I don’t want to slow the saw down any more than I have to . Imo it already is kind of a pig of a saw and has me wanting a faster running pro saw like the 572xp I sorta regret buying the 391 but sorta like it at the same time idk..

The muffler mod not sure if it helps power i did it to try to get heat out of the saw because over time it would run hot and piston would start to score. Yes me too i kind of regret buying the 391 but once you get the problems fixed it work good for what it is. Ive never went inside of a 311-391 but i have fixed a couple for buddies that ran lean and hot by porting the muffler and grinding material off of the metering lever that controls the strato port on the carb to reduce the fresh air inlet and re-tuning the carb, it seemed to help both the power and cylinder temprature of those saws! Good info about the berings i'll be on the lookout for that in the future I have a 311 under the bench waiting for a rainy day.

Man I would think the opposite. Advanced timing puts heat in the engine, retarded timing puts heat in the exhaust. Advanced timing usually produces a more snappy engine, not sluggish. As long as it's not crazy advanced, just my experience in general. But if it works for you then more power to you. Could the saw possibly be lean?

I got the hjet about 1-1/2 turn out if you hear it when starting the cut burb like it is rich. The one thing that makes this saw complicated is these have high velocity stratos and that could almost over come the case charge if the intake size is not just right and make the carb work right. But will have to do more testing to see if it runs cooler and runs better.

Your presentation of MS391 with rebuild is interesting. I am learning how to look at cylinder and piston wear and do have yet have the ability to do rebuilds. A video by W.C.S (westcoastsaws) presented a view for piston/ring damage. His customer had repeatedly had a big Stihl fail after professional new piston replacement. The shop told a logger that he must let the saw warm up each and every time. The reason being a piston heats up before the cylinder. The saw needs to have both cylinder and piston heated before power cutting. Since the advice, the logger has not had the problem. I have an MS391 which I bought an expert rebuild carb for on eBay. My saw runs perfect, and the rebuilt carb was only in the low 40-dollar range.

Just to give it a understanding guys does different types of 2-cycle oil you can run your equipment but what I would say is this I call it a Band-Aid use seafoam 1 oz per gallon I'm here to tell you that additive will solve your two-cycle oil problems protection on your engine reason why I say that is because it is something you can use continuously because yes it will eat away the carbon it also give more lubricity and create a shield on top of the Piston Crown in all of the top of the engine head cover because it will create a lubricant Shield to prevent Heat from increasing on top of your piston and on top of the engine head which will not allow your engine to overheat on hard runs and also prevent the engine from getting carbon buildup even if you're running it low on RPMs and no matter what carbon will not build up on any engine speed that being said you would have a piece of mind at the same time it will keep your carbon clean and also it will help with storage and you will get a continuously easy startup every single time using seafoam on any two cycle oil you use. But if you're a guy don't like to mix your own oil and fuel gas you better do your homework before you buy ready mix fuels and make sure you get the best on the market to deal with something like that because not all ready-made fuel remix is the best just my advice but you'll pay more for that

Not here to crap on what your doing, what heat range plug were you running in that saw before? I'm sure you already know the heat range scale on spark plugs right, if not then #5 or #6 being the hotter range and #9 or #10 being the coldest. Years ago Husqvarna used to recommend running NGK BPMR6A plugs then changed to BPMR7A. Careful with those Champion plugs I've had bad luck with them dropping the inner porcelain and taking out a top end on saws. You have some interesting points. The first Alien movie always gets me. Especially when Brett was taken and Dallas was taken and they showed very little of the Alien itself. It still scares me to this day. In Aliens there are still a lot of jump scares that still make me jump to this day, the part where Hicks and Vasgese try to close the door on the APC and the alien stops them and the jaw comes out and Hicks says "Eat this !" It scares me and makes me relieved. That whole sequence was done so well from when the marines enter the nest to when Dietric gets attacked by the xenomorph. Alien 3 had some good jump scares. I would have to refer to the Assembly Cut because it's far more superior than the theatrical. It has good jump scares and some scary moments when the alien is discovered by the convicts eating their mate in the corridor and it looks at them before they run off. That part scared the hell out of me. Then there is the classic scene of the alien face to face with Ripley. As much as I don't like Alien 3, I have admiration for what the director and his team were doing and they went through a lot of hell getting it together. There are some things with Alien Resurrection that I appreciate. I don't know if it really has any jump scares or scary moments, but I think seeing the xenomorphs in the water swimming after the escapes was enough to get me creeped out. The new born I wasn't scared of, it .Was kind of thrilling to see something different and new. I think that's the one thing I have noticed with each alien movie is that they are different movies. They're not re-telling the same story. Each movie is different and I like that. I really like Prometheus and Alien Covenant I heard about Ridley Scott's original screen play and I wish that he would've done that as a movie instead of Covenant. It was really good. I think with Prometheus the whole psychology of David manipulating the people and his father Mr. Weyland freaked me out because he's so friendly and nice and you have no idea how evil he is or what he's up to. The Engineer waking up was cool and killing everyone was shocking. I wish Ridley Scott would've left the deleted scene of the Engineer talking to Mr. Weyland. Alien covenant had tons of jump scares and scenes that scared the hell out of me. The shower scene scared the hell out of me, the part where the crew member was washing her face and arms and the albino alien snapped her neck and killed her. I don't care what anybody says that had me gasping. It still gives me chills. Then there is the alien coming out of that guys back in the medical room and it killed that girl and went after the next girl in the ship and caused the ship to explode. That was a F*cked up moment. For Alien Romulus I really like the outer space scenes, the stuff with the rings and them docking with the space station. There was some scary moments but there really wasn't any jump scares. I would have to think about this. I think with Fedi and Ridley they wanted to put together a movie that had all of the elements of the earlier movies and the prequels, which for me is fine. I like the prequel movies. I do wish that they didn't include the off spring creature that was the hybrid alien with Engineer. I think at this point it was too much. The whole movie is a roller coaster ride and I was rooting for Rain and Andy to get safely to the ship and get away and have an epilogue or resolution where they're relieved that they escaped. Have the girl "K" who was pregnant die from the black goo because in my opinion the black goo kills whoever ingests it. So, it would make sense to have her body break apart into dust. The whole sequence of the hybrid alien / Engineer could've been saved for another movie. This movie will age well. They used the same technique as Alien and Aliens with a man in a suit and practical effects for the face huggers. Initially that's what Alien is , it's a B monster movie. All the xenomorphs were men in suits. All the sets in the movie are real sets and not green screen. The did use some cgi for Rook to look like Ian Holmes and the Engineer hybrid alien. They used miniatures and the same sound effects as the first Alien movie. Some of the soundtrack is from Gary Goldsmith. Almost all of the people that were involved in the Alien movies worked on this movie including the first AvP movie. I think they did a good job. Is it a perfect movie, no. is it great, probably not. It's definitely a good movie to get on Blue Ray to keep with the other Alien movies. I just want this film to do well so we can get more good movies.

Some really good points. I Liked Alien 3 the assembly cut better then the theatrical version too. Good idea about how to end Alien Romulus having the engineer sequence for the next movie. Maybe show K inject herself with the Black goo but not tell anyone then end the movie would be cool too.

I also bought a 372 with a holzfforma 24 inch bar and just recently got to put it to some work and than realized after about 5-15 minutes of cutting that it’s not oiling it would throw spurts out once I’d rev it 3-4times and than stop again so I took the bar off and the plate and it oils well so I’m gonna tear into a little tmr hopefully this video helps out

Try the .105 Maxpower Premium Twisted Trimmer Line and keep it throttled down. Otherwise it is a nuisance when the line keeps breaking. I prefer the Renegade 60T carbide tipped blades for thick weeds and grass or brush.
