Xtool D1 - Cleaning the Laser Assembly
มุมมอง 3.3K2 ปีที่แล้ว
NOTICE: Performing this maintenance will most likely void your warranty and if not done correctly can leave you with a non-functioning laser module. I am not responsible for any damages. You have been warned. Does your laser module look like a dryer lint trap that's never been cleaned? Clogged with all sorts of nasty smelly stuff? I'll take you through the steps of cleaning your XTool D1 laser ...
Quick tip for removing soot from lasered wood
มุมมอง 2.3K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Seeing a number of "how do I..." questions lately and the one I can answer (apart from the loose belts/pulleys which is more of a "Why is my..." and see my video on the subject) is how to remove soot/ash/char from lasered wood, and the answer is incredibly simple: tape, but not the way you think. Lasering through a layer of tape leaves a lot of tape to be weeded out, and that's no fun. Put a pi...
Post maintenance checks - when trying to make things right goes slightly wrong.

I made a couple of maintenance videos yesterday, and in doing so, I introduced a new problem into my D1. First off, after performing maintenance, ALWAYS do some level of test burn prior to getting back to business. Usually, things are perfect. Sometimes, they aren't, and this is why I made this video. I had a job set up and was framing it (laser on) and noticed that each time it returned to ori...
My xTool D1 Home Setup
มุมมอง 8662 ปีที่แล้ว
Sometimes, seeing someone else's D1 setup can give you ideas for your own setup. Here's mine, it's fairly basic but it works really well for me. There are going to be some differences of opinion on my recommendations, but the bottom line is that a properly maintained D1 will last far longer and give better results than one that isn't maintained. @xToollaser #XtoolUsersHelpingUsers Links: xTool ...
xTool D1 Fixing Issues With Belts & Motors
มุมมอง 14K2 ปีที่แล้ว
On the xTool D1 Official Facebook Group, I've been seeing a good number of new users (and probably some that are not so new) that are having issues with image shift, double lines, and other aberrations in their laser's output. I had a similar issue early on, and this is how I fixed it - this is definitely filed under "maintenance" - it's easy to check, and simple to fix once you've identified t...
xTool D1 Periodic Maintenance
มุมมอง 1.1K2 ปีที่แล้ว
One thing that doesn't seem to get mentioned very often is maintenance. Having come to my D1 from the 3D printing world, I know how important it is to properly maintain a fairly complex machine...the D1 is simpler than a 3D printer, but maintenance is still required. My d1 isn't in constant use, but it probably gets 40 hours per week of use. All maintenance is done with the D1 powered off. At a...

oh wow, thought i had broken my machine, buti followed your instructions for tightening everything, and its working perfectly. Thank you so much.
Good to hear.
What about the major soot on the sides of mdf after it is cut?
Run a Clorox wipe across the edge?
@@PeteRuckelshaus Thanks, I will try that.
@@echocheck You can also sand lightly with very fine grit sandpaper. Additionally, be sure to run cutting test patterns, you will find that some speed/power settings char less than others.
The metal rod started bouncing around. Trying to fix that
Amazing video
Very helpful video! Thanks Pete
Set screws. The only vid I have seen discussing that issue. My set screw (after a year of operation) backed out. POM wheel and belt adjustment did not solve the problem. My problem, for now, solved! Ortur LM3..very hard to get to the set screws... Thanks very much for this video.!!
Glad it helped!
Hi Peter, How do we fix the rack problem ive got that issue?
thanks for the reply...I believe I found the problem...the belt wasn't properly seated on the coupler rod...now it is cutting correctly...thanks so much for this video and responding to me! It's been a couple of tough days!!!!
Hi Pete...having problems with cutting on my X tool D1...cannot complete a perfect circle...I've made all the adjustments in this video and still not completing a circle, therefore all my cuts are off. What can I do? I have orders I need to fill! HELP!
Double check the grub screw on the Y axis stepper at the right rear of your machine.
I’dve been just as long winded. If not, something could be unclear or left out completely. Good video. Nice to have a step by step to follow. As many times as I’ve gone through this process, it’s easy to get distracted and not do a thorough job. I used to have issues with the gear above the x stepper dropping down. There’s a certain measurement that needs to be. That’s all I’d add. Interested in seeing your other videos on this machine and 3D printing if you have any. I have the Anycubic Vyper, it’s actually running right now.
Thanks for sharing this, I'm fairly new to my P2. How do you run this through your machine now? I see you had yellow and blue colors, are they separate acrylic pieces?
Do you have any pictures of a stepper motor? I know you were trying to show us, but besides the white coupler screws, I could not see anything back there.
Looking for a x tool d1 pro x axis motor replacement can u help
Thanks for the cool maintnance tip! Good informative video! I have subscribed!!
Love you Mr Ruck
Thanks for the video. It really helped me out troubleshooting my problem.
Thank you a ton! It fixed my skipping problem.
Glad it helped!
Nice setup! Quick question… does it matter which end of the hose (enclosure or window) you put the blower? I have mine at the enclosure and always question my decision to do it that way LOL. Thanks! 😊
Not entirely sure if it matters, but I have electricity and a place to put the blower at my window, so I have it pulling smoke.
What do I need to get to engrave on jewerly?? What about the laser tree modules??
how to fix the XTool software framing button not moving the laser to check the area of the engraving job?
Seriously the best video I've seen to help answer questions I didn't even know I had! Spent the last 2 days emailing to try and find out how to get started!! Thank you so much!
Glad it helped!
Ive gotten double lines due to residue build up on the underside of the x gantry (on the silver rod that the laser track wheel runs on). The gunk inhibited the laser module from smoothly
I despise companies use different size scews and allen fasteners for no reason..
Thank you! Fixed my issue.
Thank you. I just got mine assembled. I’m going to go back and check all the things you went over in this video.
I got the xTool D1 pro with the 5w and just upgraded the laser model to the 20w. Now the when the gantry is homed (to left when “XTOOL” is bottom left), starting a run, the motor tries to run more to the top and right. It is acting like it started from the bottom left and ran out of room. This happens in lightburn, I do not think it happens in creative space. Both sometimes hit the limits without actually physically hitting the limits. I am relatively new (2 months) any suggestions
Our Lazer only moves forward and back when framing. Do you know how to fix this issue? Can you help me
Our machine only goes forward and back
Shouldn't there be just one adjustment wheel on the X axis? I would intuitively think it's the bottom wheel.
I'm stuck. I frequently want to handle the project and inspect it to see if I need to run another pass. But so far I understand that once I lift it off the honeycomb I'm thwarted. Can't get it back in the same spot without some crazy custom fixture for each project...Have you figured out how to return material to the same coordinates after picking it up?
Yeah, unless you're using a jig or fixture, you really can't move the work and expect a good outcome if you need another pass. What I do is use a piece of masking tape to see if I can lift up the cut out pieces to see if they have proper separation. Obviously, you need to be very careful to not move the work.
My xTool d1 pro just started burning ellipses instead of circles (in my design). I have checked belt tension, squareness of frame à well as gantry. Updated firmware. Still burning ellipses. Any suggestions?
Check the drive gear set screws.
@@PeteRuckelshaus they are set & snug. Cleaned & lubricated x & y runners. Calibrated. All good there.
Found it. Recalibrated and noticed "Enable Rotary" was switched to green.... And it should be red (off). Thx for your time.
I have some play in my gantry, I've adjusted the gantry since it was 3.5mm off. What would cause it to go over an X and not be able to go over the same diag line. I did it 3 times and each line was about a mm to a half mm off? I hope that makes sense.
Can't figure out why my x1 D1 Pro won't move on the x-axis. Only moves on Y-axis. This is so frustrating
Start with motion - check the belt, is it properly tensioned, is it attached to the carriage properly, does the carriage move smoothly, are the drive pulleys on the stepper motor properly tightened (2x grub screws), does the stepper motor axle turn by hand. If it passes all that, check signal path/wiring from the X motor back to the motherboard. Make sure there isn't a cut, break, or crimp in the cable all the way back to the motherboard - if you have an ohmmeter, check continuity from one end of the wire to the other. Are the connectors (motherboard and stepper motor) properly connected.
New to laser hobby, just watched your video, took the laser holder off, remove the 3 wheels and all 3 bolts were stuck in the inner bearings race's with loctite and some was also between bearings and carriage. Removed all the loctite and seems to be reasonably solid now. Thank you
Glad it helped.
Hi Pete; first of all, thanks for the tutorial. I have had my xTOOL D1 Pro for a little over a week; and for getting better acquainted, in the Laser tab I always use "Current Position" so I would like to know if it is possible to use "Homing" in that function or is it only in Absolute Coordinates. And how can I configure Homing on this machine. Thank you
My d1pro powered off mid job a few days ago and no will not turn on at all apart from the odd occasion where it will power on for about a minute before shutting down. Anyone else have or know about this issue as I cannot find anything on the web for this problem.
Thank you so much, I am also in the same fb group, but hadn't seen my problem in there before. My axel as you called it, is just popping out of the hole while its running. Its done it twice now. I've been using my laser consistently since around September and hadn't had this issue until this past week. I'm going to check all the things you mentioned in your video and see if that helps.
Pete, I'm a new user and I just got the xtool D1, I'm having a problem with the laser belt, the tension is good but it's not moving the laser properly, any advice on that?
this saved me! Coupler on the motor was loose - I tried a full day fixing a problem and didnt check that! thank you so much
My XTool is suddenly stopping on its own, with the laser shutting off at the same time. I have the 5watt, could this be from over heating? I need the machine for Christmas gift making. I'll be checking my gears and belts, thank you for your video.
Hi sir. Having some trouble with my Xtool D1. I followed your steps on this video, it worked a tad bit. I am hoping you could assist me more with the issue? Maybe via email if you’re willing to. Thank you in advance
‘Math is hard’ says the man in a MIT shirt. 😁🤙🏽 greetings from the S. Shore.
I get like a locking problem with my X axis. the belt will hit what feels like a barrier and i get a knocking sound and it knocks it out of place. If I loosen the belt it goes away but then I get a shit burn. I have had my machine for 5 months or so now. it just started doing it. Any ideas on what I can do?
Where and when should we put the lubricant that comes in the package? The "peng sheng"
A light dab along the rails.
I have a very similar setup. Only difference is I have a smaller smaller honeycomb bed. Thanks for the video.
Great video and explanation! Cleared things up for me and made the maintenance and troubleshooting easy. Blessings
Glad it helped, Edgar.
Where did you get that fan?

There are no flat spots on the shafts. At least mine doesn't.
OMG! Pete!!! (we are in the same group BTW) You probably just saved my machine. The description of the COUPLER for the Y side...keeps literally falling off. Now I'm extremely new to lasers. And there is no where in the manual that even comes close to what you are doing. The FLAT side....good grief..didn't even know that it existed in that corner. I tighten my set screws very tight, but if I'm still on the round...it won't hold long (mine didn't) and I've had this machine for 3 1/2 months made zero, burnt through some wood, had issues with crashes. Figured the crash out (not all things from China are "measurement "correct) AND thanks to you...my Y side will be solved. Personally, XTOOL should PAY you to demonstrate actual assembly of the D1. Thank YOU!!!!
Thanks! I'd LOVE to do an unboxing and assembly video, because that's REALLY when all of these things should be done correctly. @XTool send me a D1, I'll do a series of unboxing and assembly videos showing all of the things to check, and then I'll donate the D1 to my local middle school. Call me!
Thanks for the help! You sound like you're also from Philly, right?
Is it that obvious?
