I get the same BS when we go out to Montauk Long island for vacation for werk in the summer. The Hamptons locals complain about the tourist and vacationers, but they dont realize that without those vacationers, their taxes would be much higher than they already are, and their businesses eould be shutting down. We pay for their quite little towns. They get no sympathy from me.
There is no seacoast
Maine is way overtaxed. I looked for a home in Maine. I found out they tax your pensions 6%. The state is one of the most heavely taxed states in the country. I settled in NH. No sales tax--No state tax---No tax on my pension. Who would move to a shithole like Maine???? My property tax is 3,000$ on a half million dollar house. I have a million dollar view and pay no VIEW taxes. In Maine I would be taxed forever. SCREW MAINE. New Hampshire is heaven.
You'll freeze your dingaling off. Don't go.
Portsmouth has 4 seasons. 1. Almost winter 2. Winter 3. Still winter 4. Construction.
Clickbait! What was the “Instant regret”???
Lived there for a year it’s pretty people are friendly but 20 years ago when I was there I felt l was the only black person every where I went and it’s cold
Worked under Carter in EPA for Clean Air and Clean Water. That was solved quickly enough. Then a 'SuperFund' mafiia moved in, pushed us out, and EPA began to metastasize. 'SuperFund(c)' sites may never BE cleaned up. _They are printing money._ The new Cri$i$ is *AI Blade Warehouses will gobble up 50% of the national grid by 2030, along with EVs.* _AI/EV Grid-Suck means rolling blackouts, while ln'dia IT mines the Surveillance State Big Data Cloud._ *'Climate Change'(c)'s is deliberate Mass Conformity Bias for Modi $$$$.* _Our grandkids will inherit a dry mouthful of poop-dust._
I lived in Arizona for ten years and then moved back east to Massachusetts. YES, MASSHOLES ARE THE WORST DRIVERS EVER!!!
Moved here from Saratoga New York it’s is literally twice the cost in utilities and 25% more in grocery. Property taxes also nuts and even though you are on the seacoast you don’t have water access but it’s only a 15 minute drive to Hampton Beach which is super nice and a hop skip and a jump from the Seabrook Nuclear Plant (don’t play with the cracked concrete at the plant!)
Another reason to consider the NH side of the seacoast is SCHOOL CHOICE! Look into the Education Freedom Account's (EFA's) if you want to have a choice where your child receives their education. Also, congrats to to all Mainers! As of Jan 1, 2025 you now pay an additional 1% in payroll taxes! Meanwhile, as of Jan 1, 2025, NH has officially phased out interest and dividends tax! NH does have higher Prop tax but remember... EFFECTIVE dollars matter! Yes you pay 1% in prop tax but AFTER you pay 7% income tax and 5.5% in sales tax. Always consult your CPA/Financial Advisor.
How about an $800 monthly utility bill in the winter because there’s no state government intervention in the cost of electricity here or in Maine.
I preferred Portsmouth in the seventies and eighties before the gentrification. It has become a rich limousine liberal hub. If you want to rub elbows with out of touch, wealthy socialists, you might love it.
Thinking of moving to New Hampshire should I move to Plymouth ?
Bring back the Green Bean cafe.
Don't move to Maine if you are a Yankees fan! Go Red Sox!
The high incarceration rate in Maine is due to factors like a large number of people incarcerated for drug offenses, a high rate of jail admissions, and a disproportionate number of Black people in the prison population compared to the general population, which is often attributed to policies related to the "War on Drugs." "War on Drugs"? Nancy Reagan mentality. How about helping people with mental illness which is the root of most addictions. Coffee anyone? The prison industrial complex to create jobs. SICK!!!
Gentrification is the only thing here now. Thanks, go away.
Thanks, its ruined already. Go away.
Vacationed with parents in Bar Harbor and York Beach during 50s-60s, worked in Bangor 70s, married a gal from Islesboro, family had a fishing camp in Northern Maine for 30 years. Lifetime NH resident now retired in Florida with fond Maine memories 😊
Reason to stay away...no major city? To me, that is a big bonus. Boston only an hour down 93. Find myself not going there too often. Property taxes? Yup. But no income or sales tax and no tax on SS. Ticks? VT, Maine, MA, etc... got them too. Not sure how that is different than other states. I'll take NH all day long.
This was me but never did what u did. Massachusetts spoils you. U leave here you’re gonna find out what it means to possibly live without healthcare, which is a huge bummer. No thanks.
Crazy overpriced expensive housing along the sea coast so if you don't make 300k a year don't bother looking
I love living in Maine, I know exactly where your commentary was made. Just like I know where everything else is.
Don't come to NH. We get twenty feet of snow, it doesn't melt until July. Our roads are falling apart and our bridges have collapsed. Summers are brutal, 120 degrees on an average day. And our sales and income taxes are over 50% :)
Beautiful in winter moderated than inland community’s as close as Dover nh and north west
It's videos like this that draw people into the state and cost of living is ridiculous. If you want to buy a run down split level for $600,000 and end up with a $3500/month mortgage this is the place.
Here, let me save you some time. Maine is EXTREMELY cold and wet. With that comes snow; lots and lots of snow. also wood cracking, pipe freezing, power outing COLD! COLD COLD COLD! This means that anything you own that is wood will rot. Anything metal will rust. Generally, you will be fixing shit all the time. Ground freeze will compromise your home foundation. The cold along with the weekly power outages will burst your water pipes; even the Pex ones! The hard well water will put so much calcium and rust into your pipes that you will either need a $10000 water softener installed or you will be replacing heating coils in your burner frequently. frequent 70 mph wind will guarantee that nothing, including your roof shingles, will stay down. You will have to buy expensive and difficult to repair items like generators, snow throwers, lawn mowers. These machines will need to be big to handle this war so you will also need to buy a trailer to haul all this shit for repair. Oh repair, yea, repair and maintenance is now your second unpaid full-time job. HERE IS A LITTLE SECRET THEY NEVER TELL YOU - THE VAST MAJORITY OF PEOPLE WHO MOVE TO MAINE FROM ANYWHERE ELSE WILL FLEE IN THE FIRST 5 YEARS BECAUSE OF THESE BRUTAL AND EXPENSIVE FACTS! OH, and the sun NEVER shines, and if it for some miracle it should shine the humidity, black flies, mosquitos, wasps, hornets, and no-see bugs will guarantee you won't enjoy it. It's been said that a boat is a hole in the water you throw money into. Maine is a deep freezer you throw everything you own into then pay to keep all that shit from freezing. OH, and as a final slap in the face, wait until you find out that you have to pay a yearly excise tax of about $500 to $700 for every vehicle you own, including that trailer you just had to buy. You wont need a hobby though as your new hobby is figuring out new innovative ways to save your mailbox from being dragged off by the snow plows.
How about a video on living up and away from the coast? In less populated cities wear the wealthy may stray from buying property, yet still a nice place to live.
You're right. I would NEVER move to NH. Every State in New England has raised the minimum wage EXCEPT RED NH. Stupid people elect stupid RepubliCONS.
I'm a lifelong Mainer. At 31 years old, I can't wait to leave Maine. My reasons are high taxes and high cost of living, politics and I want more out of life. Maine used to be a great state and it was reasonable to live here. Now with high Property Taxes, Income tax, Sales Tax, Yearly vehicle inspections and yearly vehicle registrations and everything else it's not reasonable to live here. The job market is not great in Maine. I've even looked into starting my own business and it's roadblock after roadblock. At some point, you just throw in the towel and move onto greener pastures. People don't understand that politics play a huge part in Maine being a good state or a bad state. When the Democrats are in control of this state like they currently are, this state absolutely sucks. They bring taxes and crime to Maine. When Republicans take control, Maine is a much better state. Our elected officials in Augusta don't listen to us and the transplants in Southern Maine tend to move here to avoid the disaster wherever they fled from yet vote that same disaster here in Maine.
Ive lived in Maine my entire life hell I still do and I love this state don't get me wrong but it can suck sometimes
What if I wanted to come to Maine to just simply work while minding my own business. Enjoy the stuff to do in Nature in the summer, but especially the winter. Live the local culture and help where needed. Would I be welcomed and employable? It's such a beautiful state. I want solitude, peace, and quiet. Is this possible?
I go to gunstock like 20 times a year as a tradition and I love it
i love that Maine has a low crime rate and is very safe
Southern MAINE isn't the real MAINE.
We have a saying in Maine " WELCOME TO MAINE, NOW GO HOME!!"
I’ve been there during the winter. I came from rhode island (so no shock of the change) It is fucking cold in the winter, and my beach life salty air face did not like the mountain air, but it’s beautiful.
I moved to NH from MA in August. Cold af rn, however the people, location and mountains make it more than worth it.
Go to waterfront & swing into Rebecca's Diner. Great food - Good prices.
No such thing. If global warming aka climate change were real, millionaires wouldn’t buy beach from property all over the East coast
Unaffordable
It can be expensive for sure!
Highly affordable doesn’t = good in my opinion It usually = poverty, crime, white trash (look at West Virginia and Oklahoma), or a ghetto hood
Yes but it is too cold and too much snow.
Good point!
Climate change? 🤡
If you give the liberals enough tax money they will make sure the earth wont heat up 1.5°... Hilarious

Yes the implication is tax revenue for the residents from those not using the base services the taxes provide. Seasonal homes are mostly not 4 season capable homes. The solution is keep your greedy fingers off my property when I pay $300 a linear ft for water front property.
