The Pyramid of Khafre Deep Dive | Reading Keith Hamilton’s Layman’s Guide | Lines in Sand
Join me on a hour long deep dive on the subject of Egypt’s second biggest pyramid: the massive giant that is the pyramid of Khafre. Despite its size, and its proximity to the Great Pyramid of Giza (with its magnetic field of theories and mysteries), the pyramid of Khafre is often overlooked. At first, to those who like to explore the mysteries of Ancient Egypt, the pyramid of Khafre may seem simplified - disappointing even - but the pyramid is actually just as contradictory and confusing as many others from the long forgotten past.
In this video, we use Keith Hamilton’s Layman’s Guide to the Pyramid of Khafre as a baseline in order to explore the detail of the structure. As always, infinite thanks to Keith for writing such excellent guides - I implore you all to read them if you haven’t. Extra credits go to Charles Rigano, Jon Bodsworth and the Isida Project, who are responsible for most of the on-site pictures you see in this presentation.
I would also like to extend my thanks to Gareth, Richard and Tom for the additional voice work in this episode. It helps break up 1 hour of me droning on about stones and chambers!

HI Lines....My mind just came up with a very challenging idea for the pyramides...but before i elaborate further, I have to know: what is the time-difference betweeen the reign of Kofo and the first ever mention of the pyramid??? this may be crucial to the way this pyramid was buit,,,,what if the pyramid was not buid in one step, but was expanded on during several hundered years as the european kethedralrs?

The 'relieving chambers' are resonating beams and chambers. This is why the ceilings are straight and the floors are rough. They were tuning the beams to a specific pitch and the air in the chambers to other specific pitches. (If you blow across a bottle you get one pitch, if you tap the bottle you get a different pitch). This is the elephant in the room that nearly everyone but Christopher Dunn seems to be ignoring.

At 1:53:00 the photos of cracks appear very straight and parallel on all the 3 ceiling blocks. Would giant 80 ton granite blocks crack in STRAIGHT, PARALLEL lines like this? (and still be in place after thousands of years, including earthquakes,) There is no weight pressing on top of these stones because the (so-called) 'relieving chambers' are above these 3 cracked stones. What could 'crack' them?

Like most societies even today, they probably had higher and lower levels of workers from the bosses down to the slaves. Hieroglyphs seem to show violence towards their prisoners. Maybe the newly discovered workers quarters were for the more fortunate higher classes. This worker's area doesn't look like it could have accommodated the many many thousands of workers needed to build the great pyramid in 20 years. (Which has been debunked)

I don’t know if narrating entire books would be quick and easy 😄 but for public domain information or of texts with the author’s permission, it might be something I could look into doing if there is interest. Thanks for sharing your suggestion. I appreciate it. Many thanks, Sean 🙂

I think the internal ramp would have only gone up one level at a time. And still used an external ramp. Here is my simple way to build a pyramid. Step 1) Create a flat base , critical as the pyramid gets higher. Step 2) Create a wall around the base, using the casing blocks . These are rectangular and will be sloped at the end. This protects them against damage. Also allows the outside of the pyramid to be stepped all the way up , aiding with creation of an external ramp and climbing the pyramid. The corner casing blocks would be added first. Their edges would be finished precisely like large lego blocks, for precice placing. The other casing stones do not need precise finishes yet. Step 3) Bring in all of the large granite blocks and pyramidian stone into the walled area at ground level. Step 4) Begin putting the layer of internal core blocks up against the casing wall. Step 5) level the top of these blocks. Step 6) Do this until a good portion of the core blocks have been put in place. Step 7) Build a temporary ground level internal ramp, this will be used to move the granite blocks onto the top of the first layer of internal core blocks. Step 8) Raise the granite blocks and pyramidian stone up the internal ramp onto the top of the layer of internal blocks. They never travel up the external ramp. Step 9) Build an external ramp on the side of the casing blocks. Step 10) Once all granite blocks have been raised up . Move the temporary internal ramp up , for use on the next level. Step 11) Finish adding all the ground floor core blocks, and close the ground floor casing wall. Step 12) Move new casing stones and core blocks up the external ramp , and repeat, from step 1) all the way to the top of the pyramid. Step 13) Add the pyramidian stone, line up with the corner blocks. Step 14) Using the pyramidian stone , starting on the corner blocks, slope the facing blocks , from top to bottom, removing the external ramp as they work down. Step 15) Have a party.

I also like mysteries but people should realise that those who build the pyramids were people. Even thought they lived 5000 years ago they were just people, they were hungry, horny, tired, angry, upset or in love. They weren't some strange creatures, they were just people There are cities and structures way older than the pyramids. For example one of the oldest cities in the world Damascus, the capital Syria, is 11,000 years old aka way way older than the pyramids and even that city was build by just simple regular people like us - they just did have cell phones. So the Subterranean Chamber is just a room underground, its very old yeah so it feels mysterious coz no one was inside for 5000 years but there's no reason to believe there's some magic or crazy secrets inside. It was dag up by normal people who went to have lunch and take a shit afterwards just like us after work :D

Honestly, I think Herodotus is likely on the mark. Using levers would be much faster and less complicated than using ramps, or other schemes. You would need timber and manpower, which they had. It also makes sense that the size of the blocks would get smaller the higher the pyramid progressed, and I'm sure many have noticed that many ruined pyramids have a very obvious stepped core. One man can move several tons with enough leverage, it's not even vaguely far fetched.

i just think its weird that the people in control of these ancient sites, dont want to investigate. they are leaving figuring these things out to future generations, just because. people wanna say the power plant has no evidence, but theres like no evidence for anything, cause we dont know enough, and not trying to figure it out. same thing with alot of other ancient sites, they are actively not working on it, and instead just wanna use it for tourism for money. of course theres gonna be crazy theories, cause no one has all the information, and getting the information you have to go through the powers that control it all, and they dont want people figureing it out. for what reasons, is up for debate, but i think its just the ego of people in control. they spent years being this figure in charge of this information, and i think alot of these ancient sites will show alot of their information has been wrong all these years. have you seen Zahi Hawass rage when anyone talks about any theory? he gets so butt hurt and mad if you dont listen to him, yet he hasnt done shit to investigate more or inform us of what they know its insane to me that we dont have a clear picture of our past, but when presented with the opportunity, they dont wanna investigate more. or they do investigate, but arnt telling us what they found. we hear excuses like they wanna preserve the sites, and not dig in and destory things...but its 2024, and weve been doing this shit for a while, we can safetly investigate. and thats not to mention the absolute neglect and damage to just the great pyramid already, its a stupid excuse to say now, well we dont wanna damage it more.

Wow I almost feel like this video was made for me lol last year I commented on your previous Khafre pyramid video about how criminally understudied and rarely talked about Khafre’s pyramid is, and now you give me an hour long video on it! Thank you for giving it some much needed and deserved attention. It’s such an amazing monument, it just baffles me how no one ever talks about it on the internet these days. In my opinion, it’s crucial to not forget about this pyramid when discussing the Great Pyramid because of how immense in size it also is. It drives me a little crazy sometimes seeing someone go on for hours about how the GP had to be constructed in some certain way, but they don’t even consider if their theory would make sense for the almost as large pyramid that’s sitting right beside it. Ive always thought that if all these crazy methods and technologies were necessary for the Egyptians to be capable of constructing the GP, then many of the same techniques would also have to have been employed for Khafre’s as well given its similar size and makeup. There are some differences between them, but I can’t fathom that the two structures wouldn’t have had very similar building techniques used in their construction. When people have proposed things like the “power plant theory” that explain every little detail of the GP being required to make it all work, but the Khafre pyramid having none of the same features therefore none of it would work for it, it makes me want to pull my hair out lol. I also have always felt like that there could be a fair chance that there is more to Khafre’s pyramid than we see today. I’ve often wondered if it’s possible that the Egyptians took what they learned from the GP and built an even better and more well hidden chamber inside of Khafre’s pyramid. I think the chances of it are slim, but not zero, but it seems like no one today cares enough about it to even look into the possibility of there being any more to discover inside it. I think there is much more to learn from this pyramid and I hope it gets more attention and appreciation someday. Thank you for another amazing video, I’m halfway through now and thoroughly enjoying it all so far.

Oh damn an hour long Lines in Sand video? Need to settle in with a drink. As for the G3b pyramid, Vyse seemed to specifically just follow the path of least resistance, probably to avoid the situation you mentioned with precarious stones. It explains why it twists and turns with random 90 degree bends. Thanks for mentioning that one, it’s my favorite. I believe the robbers tunnels in both the great and kafres pyramids were new kingdom jobs to renovate and reinter the king. They bypassed the portcullis to leave it as the main deterrent then backfilled and hid the back door access they cut. It seemed to have worked because it took until 800 to find the great pyramid’s and another thousand years to find the one from khafre. After people have sent me videos inside the well shaft, and seeing some of the huge cracks running through it, I’m fairly certain the voids under Khafre’s pyramid are natural caves. The bedrock seems to be like Swiss cheese, which makes sense considering the proximity to the Nile. Pieces of bull bones doesn’t sound like a burial to me, it sounds like someone tossed the remainder of their lunch into the coffin. Beef has been a common food in the area from the old kingdom until modern day.

It was the first one built. They were trying to work things out. Just like we are doing today. A civilisation. The Great Pyramid was their 2nd attempt & it worked… The evidence of things being stripped out of it is there for all to see. Ask yourself why?…Whom amongst us need to control the narrative?…

Who ever made the robbers tunnels surley had found information on them. Maybe there were templates or diagrams of the original builders. Maybe when the 4th dynasty finished and the intermediate times happened after when war swept the land it was then information on the construction was found. Just a thought.

I find it hard to believe that the great pyramid has so much going on inside of it (Kings chamber, Queens chamber, Grand Gallery etc) while the Khafre-Pyramid has only this one chamber mostly underneath the whole pyramid. Do u know if these crazy Myon-Scans or whatever it was on the great pyramid that revealed a possible 2nd Grand Gallery have been performed on the Khafre Pyramid aswell? Is there possibly more? Give us hope!

Hello! Yeah it was scanned a very long time ago - I may be wrong but I think it was one of the first pyramids to have a scan of that kind. ScanPyramids, who found the secret voids in the Great Pyramid have recently rescanned the Khafre pyramid. I believe it was last year when they did it. If you do a quick search for “Khafre pyramid muon scan results” there’s an Ancient Architects video that goes over the results of their scans. Prepare to be disappointed 😞 Many thanks for watching and for commenting!

Haha Are you doing voice reenactments for the quotes? That makes it difficult to take the video seriously

I asked some friends to read some of the quotes from sources like m&r, Petrie, Vyse etc - it helps break up the video, especially when I’m quoting from sources that are in turn quoted by another author (Hamilton) - it helps to clear it up a bit. They are not intended to be reenactments. Not at all.

The pharaohs had Caucasian genetics, the geneticists of the iGENEA research center came to this conclusion

"Swiss genomics company iGENEA has launched a Tutankhamen DNA project based on what they say are genetic markers that appeared on a computer screen during a Discovery Channel special on the famous pharaoh's genetic lineage." The people who did the tests laughed at this ridiculous publicity stunt and said the conclusion is nonsense. Maybe google a bit more before believing the first thing you read...

But Carsten Pusch, a geneticist at Germany's University of Tubingen who was part of the team that unraveled Tut's DNA from samples taken from his mummy and mummies of his family members, said that iGENEA's claims are "simply impossible." Pusch and his colleagues published part of their results, though not the Y-chromosome DNA, in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) in 2010. The Y chromosome is the sex chromosome found only in males, and looking at the genes in this chromosome would show Tut's male lineage. Pusch's team used snippets of Y-chromosome DNA to link Tut to his closest relatives, identifying his mom and dad. But they didn't publish the full genetic data that would allow genomics companies like iGENEA to link modern people to the Tutankhamen lineage. According to Scholz, that crucial data is what appeared on the Discovery Channel. "Dr. Albert Zink from the EURAC [European Academy of Bolzano, an independent research center] in Bolzano and co-author of the 2010 JAMA publication screened the footage and confirmed that the company acts very unscientific," Pusch wrote in an email to LiveScience. "The Swiss company did not try to get into contact with us prior to launching their new Internet page."
