Life2 on-tour
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 29 ก.ค. 2018
We're Carl and Isabel and we met through our love of motorcycles. Early tours started with a Yamaha MT09 Tracer and a Tiger 800, now replaced with two Yamaha Ténéré 700s (T7s).
After Isabel had treatment for breast cancer in 2018 we realised that life is short and that if you have a dream you have to do your best to realise it.
The last three years have been about chasing that dream of riding round the world and it's happening. We sold everything we own, packed up the bikes and started in Alaska. The first series of this round the world trip is called Ice 2 Fire and will take us from the top of Alaska to the bottom of South America.
Crazy, terrifying and so exciting.

We've arrived in South America!!
p/EDI-Machine-Motos-100054397185135/?locale=nl_BE
Ice 2 Fire is the first leg of our Round the World trip - Prudhoe Bay to Ushuaia.
We have sold everything (and I mean everything) and packed our panniers. Our bikes, two Yamaha T7s, were flown out to Anchorage along with ourselves.
It's been a rocky road of many ups and downs to reach this point. We have dealt with breast cancer and broken ankles amongst other things, and for the last five years we have been Chasing the Dream. The dream is now happening and we can't quite believe that we're on this journey. It's very surreal.

Cheers. Many adventures!!
You guys are a riot! This was a great video 😂 Love n hugs
Haha. Thanks Nancy. Just having fun! 🤩
Such sad news.. take care
Thank you. It was a lot to deal with when so far away from home.
Sorry to hear about your dad…
Thank you.
Fantastic… I’m playing catch up 😂
Have been waiting for this video for some time. Fascinating seeing the Panama canal in operation and fabulous pics and video. Also very emotional given circumstances. We both shed a tear for you.
Thank you! Yes it was amazing to be so close up to the ships. The sped up shots of the blue ship actually getting through the canal took almost an hour in real time! There is literally centimetres to spare each side and the mules on the tracks control it completely. Quite incredible. And yes, every few minutes we were both thinking how Paul would have loved to have seen it with us. Such a shame and so sad. 😞
Thank you. xxxx
So sorry for your loss. I am happy you navigated our highway here in Panama safely.
Thank you. The canal is a fascinating place.
Wow its amazing how those huge ships get through those tiny locks, That were probably massive locks, Looked busy like the M25 for ships
It was incredible.
The canal was built to take the largest US warship that was around at that time. Since then, ships have been built to the width of the canal. The capacity of the canal is down to around 70% of capacity, as the lack of rainfall is causing the water levels in the lake to drop. It is this lake that feeds the canal in both directions.
The first time 10 mins or so I was in floods of tears, I missed Dad so much and just the thought of him watching the "boats" made me all emotional.but then I was laughing at Issy wanting to spoilt on her birthday as I am very much the same. I love birthdays. I hope you did spoil her Carl and got her Ice cream and some cake! Poor love we very injured.
Bless you. It was a strange day. Sad and exciting all in one go which was strange to process. He was definitely with us in spirit. And no. No ice cream!! 🍦
Not sure I did mark the occasion properly... #naughtycarl
@@Life2ontour Shame on you Carl for not making Issy feel special, what with bruises and all. And I think you captured the essence of that day for Dad and he would have been very proud of you x
@@ChristineAbrams-p2v Thank you! xxxx
🎉❤
I hope Carl got you the extra ice lolly. 😂
Well actually, no. He didn’t. 👎 😢
I'm going to say I did. 🙂
So sorry to hear about your Father Carl...difficult to process far away from home. Take care guys, cheers Steve 💚 ps, Isi, on the leaky trouser front, my Klim Travese have kept me dry in all day Irish rain.
Thanks Steve. Yes, it is very difficult to process when you're away. It's all very strange. Not sure we can afford Klim... I think also, a trip like this is very heavy wearing on the kit. I have waterproof over trousers that I'm wearing. Just a pain having to stop and put them on.
So sorry to hear that 😢 I lost my Dad just before Covid and it was difficult enough being close by, He lived at Rye Harbour. so I can imagine your feelings being so far away. Thoughts are with you x
Thank you so much. It is really difficult to process when you’re thousands of miles away. I think there will be a further grieving process once we’re home and we visit family and his chair is empty. 😔 We obviously haven’t had that moment. 😞
💓😿
👍👍👏👏🙏
My beautiful friends I give you my deepest condolences for the passing of your dear Father. You two are a bright light in my day. God bless you, Nancy
Thank you so much Nancy. A difficult time for sure. x
Thank you Nancy. Difficult times but one I have accepted as a downside to doing what we're doing. I know my Dad was proud of what we're doing, so onwards we must go. xxx
So sorry to hear about you dad Carl, sending love to you and Isi ❤️
Thank you.
Sorry to hear ,your sad news ,you have my condolences.
Thank you.
Thank you. xx
Nice video guys...but sorry to hear about Carls dad...that's a tough one to process away from home. Take care, Steve 💚
It’s really difficult and feels very surreal. Emotions are very up and down with each moment at a time like this. Thank you for your kind words.
Yep, same experience as you with the trews. Even one-piece jobbies don't do the job. Cold and wet cobblers is no fun on a ride. So sorry about your Dad, Carl.
I (Isi) have waterproof over trousers which are waterproof at the moment. But it’s annoying I have to put them on as Rev It say their trousers are waterproof but they’re not. Thank you for your condolences. It’s a really difficult thing to process when you’re so far away and making these videos over this period has been emotional.
❤ Reference the trousers.Have you tried redoing the waterproofing? I have only been caught out in a heavy down pour once and had a very very cheap textiles on which did bloody well and didn't let in any rain...not sure how long they would last on a rtw though.
Hi Carl and Izzy, praying for your father’s recovery. Thank you for spending time with your viewers. Love to see the country thru your eyes. Blessings, Nancy
Thank you so much Nancy. xx

❤️
Just watched the end of your vlog with mixed emotions of course I know the out come, but it must have been hard. But on a brighter note, I loved the nod to wales 😁
Yes, the next few videos are done but they were hard looking back to what we said at the time. x
Another beautiful video! 🫂
Thank you so much. ❤️
What a wet sticky mess you were, I swear I could see the sweat patches appear on your t.shirt, but oh what a lovely down pour of rain, I get that was the best thing ever. Love you guys as ever, and really miss you both. And yes it is your little sis, had to make a new account, El took over my old one grrr. X
It's sooooo hot. It's unbelievable.
This was a nice video I must admit when you said you had to be fumigated, I saw the big rollers with the water and I thought that you plus the bikes had to go through, was most relieved when I saw your bikes being hosed down and you both gone dry.😁 xx
Haha yes. Only the bikes, although a hose down would have cooled us off!
I just Love you two❤️
Aww. Thank you. ❤️
Awesome! You guys are almost in Colombia. See ya soon!
🤣
I'm sure you will enjoy Costa Rica 🇨🇷 guys...I've been there many times and it's a fab country. BTW, I enjoyed my first cuppa in my L2OT mug today...I will post a photo of this important occasion tomorrow...!! Cheers Steve 💚
Thanks Steve! Look forward to seeing your cuppa!!
As I'm cozyied up under a big Dooner on a very fresh Sunday morning here in Australia, I'm pleased summer is slow arriving this year. Hot I can bear but hot and humid ,is not pleasant. Your first accommodations review ,reminded me of a place I stayed in the jungles of Borneo, isn't it wonderful ,when you are clearly made so very welcome ,despite the hosts not having very much .❤
The heat is difficult when you're not used to it. It's crazy watching the sweat just bubbling out of your arms!!
@Life2ontour I'm a welder ,try 40C day and 45C in a hole ,welding a 900mm pipeline , I've drank 5lts of water and sweated it out before lunch break ,thankfully ,I don't do that any more .
There should be a large contingent of expat retirees from the States in Costa Rica. From watching other videos, it looks lovely with the beaches. Nearing retirement myself and had considered looking into Costa Rica as the final destination.
It's certainly a lush, beautiful country.
It’s been wonderful watching your traveler chops grow and develop. At this point in the videos you hadn’t even been at it a year yet. ❤ Looking forward to each video, like the chapters of a well loved story.
Haha. My Spanish is improving a tiny bit each day. Then some days I forget it all! 😂 It’s like living in chapters in a book and the amazing thing is we don’t know how it ends. That will be an adventure all on its own. ❤️
It’s amazing how the border crossings sets your mood for the country… glad it was a better one 😉😎
That's so true. First impressions and all that!
Nice video ...don't mess with you guys at the border crossing!!. Nice place you found to stay...enjoy the pool. Coming across homeless young people..or hungry people always tugs at the heartstrings. Some kind words and a few dollars is all you can do really. Looking forward to seeing more! Cheers Steve 💚
We learnt our lesson at borders. It only happens once!! 😂 Homelessness is heart wrenching. We can’t help everyone but we do our bit for some when the opportunity arises. No such thing as government help out here. It’s so sad.
I'm curled up in bed on this early Sunday morning ,here in Australia, you guys have set me up with a positive grin for my day.
Awww. You’re too kind. Thank you so much. So glad you’re enjoying watching. ❤️
No doubt Neil is still thinking about his encounter with you. You two are leaving a wake of inspiration wherever you go i think. And Carl, I would say no more Best Westerns! hahah
Neil was one of those encounters that we will never, ever forget. We truly regret not getting his contact details but maybe that was for a reason.
Shame you got scammed at a border , just put it down to you paid a guy for a border crossing story and some lessons .. still loving this series and your honesty ..
Yep. We were grizzling about it for a few days, particularly as it had seemed to ruin our funny experience of popping out into no man’s land, but with the heat and the bewilderment they just capitalised on that. A lesson learnt and it didn’t happen again!! 😂 😂
That's a shame guys..but as you say you will be more savvy now! My experience at the Nicaragua 🇳🇮 into Costa Rica 🇨🇷 border on the Pan American highway ( in the dark!) was being told I didn't have the right documentation...cue images of massive fine or a night in a Central American jail!. A heavily armed Nicaraguan border guy saw my dilemma..called me over and told me to join a different que for passport etc. He shook my hand, nodded to the passport lady who stamped my passport and waved me through ..the security guy just said enjoy your trip! Phew...my point is there are plenty of good guys too! Lake Nicaragua is vast and a boat trip round it's many little islands is interesting...plus many volcanoes of course. Nice video as ever 👍, Cheers Steve 💚
Yeah, you’ll see in the next video that we didn’t entertain any helpers… 😂 There have been one or two decent guys that just wanted to help but these guys were on another level.
Chins up, best feet forward 😉😎
Yep. All part of the learning curve. Was just a bit depressing that day.
Sounds like you handled it well. Sadly these people exist but glad it didn’t cost you much and you could move on. Great video again
I guess they’re just trying to make a living but the way they go about it isn’t great. In 40 degree heat we were just totally unprepared!
Unpleasant bump in the road. Glad you weren’t taken for more, but I can understand how the principle of it all rubs you wrong.
It was about $65, so not the end of the world in the grand scheme of things. Just an expensive error of judgement on our part. However, on the plus side it’s made us much more savvy at borders! 👍
❤️Nasty experience to say the least!
It was. You live and learn though. We’ll never moan about the UK driving again!! 😂
Hi, after you have assembled can you fold it up for easy storage in the garage without having to disasemble it every time?
You could keep some of the main parts together, but it is not designed to fold when assembled. The beauty of this trailer is it takes little space and doesn't take long to assemble/de-assemble. PS - we don't have it anymore as we sold everything to ride around the world - subscribe to the channel to learn where are and have been, ;-)
Stunning pictures 😎 get well soon and I hope it’s not IBS 😬
Thank you. We’re on the mend. ❤️🩹
I’m so blessed I met you both last November. I really look forward to your videos. You’re taking me to places of beauty and wonder, and get to see it thru your eyes. Feel better soon, wishing you safe and healthy journeys. ❤❤❤😊
Aw thank you so much Nancy. We were very blessed to meet you. It’s the people we meet on this journey that make it. Thank you.
Nice video and update guys...hope you start feeling better soon. It's a massive adjustment for your body to make. Great photos too! Cheers, Steve
Honestly, we just have a period of wellness and then off it goes again. Constant changing of bacteria is tricky!!
oh my son Pedro has a town on that map, Jesus and our truckers moan about queueing for an hour. Carl needed to pack the Imodium 😂 OMG the volcano is awesome, you need some probiotics, or natural yogurt, it could be the water, do you only use bottled water? even for cooking? Posted as I watched so I was more organised with the comment, Love you two, take care
We mentioned we'd taken Loperamide - it's the equivalent of Imodium that you can buy out here. It got Carl up to the volcano and back down! lol. We have only used bottled water since we left the States, even for doing teeth (although we do boil it for cooking and tea when we think it's safer). We are so careful. I think it was a result of the antibiotics we had taken. They can cause IBS sometimes a few weeks later.
@@Life2ontour that was a bit more than just IBS...
Ah 💩! Hope you got sorted and feeling better. Glad you had the chance to connect with folks for a couple of days. ❤
We recovered eventually. Just such a nuisance.
We had been so looking forward to meeting our friends, I was determined not to let a little tummy upset spoil it too much. 🙂
I've not seen waves make patterns like that before ,it's quite mesmerising.
It was beautiful. We don't usually get to see them from above.
