Joe Strummer and the mescaleros...White Man In Hammersmith Palais...Irvine, CA. July 6th 2002
I really love(d) those drums
This pleases me. The sound, the passion, it fills me with much joy. Switching to Satan at the end, if I may say, was a perfect transition. Their Kung Fu is good. I keep coming back.
The band that made me lose interest in Nirvana. Hands down, one of the best alternative albums of the 90's. I remember listening to this cassette non-stop. Very underrated, but not under-appreciated!
The Lemonheads made me lose interest in Nirvana, I can relate. Not a bad thing... because when I do listen to Nirvana, it's fresh. Not overplayed. 😊
I used to be in a band and we covered this song back in 1995...Still sounds great today
So great!!!
Love you guys! Saw you at my local venue in North Wales a couple of times. The last time you had Radiohead supporting you, nice!
Hey Dec, stumbled across this great blast from the past. I still have the 45 you gave me. All the best 'chubbychapoppo' .
September girls
I loved these guys. If they had stuck to this melodic vibe they could’ve been in. Classic tune. Powerhouse live too.
Love the bass line in this!
2019!
Mustangs, cardigans and converse.
Sums it up...
An absolutely great song. There was a Fire Records compilation 'Fire is Good' and this was on it. Really good.
Wish I was there
Saw these guys at Buckley Tivoli in 1991, supported by none other than Radiohead!
The Tivoli what a venue
@@andyrussell1219 Was pretty awesome to see Radiohead supporting Midway Still yeah! Although Creep wasn't a hit yet for them yet, they still played it as their last song. Afterwards Thom Yorke walked past me and i just wanted to say hi and shake his hand, total blank he gave, even then! I forgive him now, i'm 45 after all!
@@pablosearth He was a twat. Even then. Bass player was ok tho...
Thanks!! Good Times!!
That idiot in the red Fat Axl top, stagediving at 1:50. I'm pretty sure that's me. Happy days!
just saw these guys last night... theyre old but still cool haha
I love how they break into "Satan" at the end. Awesome performance.
they go beast mode. fucking awesome.
there sure was a great heap of shit in the 90's
Tis true. But you have remained amazing throughout. Well done.
You were right about good music not always going to be as easy to get... I could cry for the death of the 90's.
In that awkward stage- between the 80's and the 90's (I mean the style of the show lol) .what a band, what a band. I love these guys. Makes me want to run to my local used record/cd store... I think I'll do that.
Awesome ;) :) x
@marokokisetter I always thought that, too.
SILVERFISH!. Saw them a few times. I remember we see them at the Marquee in London and my mate broke his collar bone after hitting the floor from a poor stage dive lol. loved the whole early 90's noise scene. these guys, early therapy?, fudge tunnel, loveblobs, headlcleaner etc. GOOD OLD DAYS
One great list of fantastic bands there!
from one of my favorite 'tapes' of the 90's!
Same!
Nice. The band deserved better - for the simply reason that they *were* better than a lot of the wank that was given column inches and colour covers (Spacemen 3, Lush, Chapterhouse - all that shite).
Come on though Mikki Lush, she deserved all them covers!
@pyenapple haha but of course.
@marokokisetter It's called punk or hardcore. ;) And there are maybe one or two more bands that were also influenced by it. Hahaha.
Possibly my favorite version of this song. The violin is perfect.
i was lucky enough to at this gig fucked outta my face on acid...... the strobe lights, mr burning man ..... then mosh the camden lurch wot a night!
joe genius...fkin genius.even the teds couldnt slag ya.
it almost sounds like supergrass was influenced by satan in their song richard iii
Love TF, but to me, they never equaled Bandwagonesque
Thank you for posting Joe was and is and always will be my hero
How young do they look?!!
miss you Joe, mate!
its a bloke called bingo in the suit, a fucking nutter! he`s the same lad that used to dress up in metal plates at headcleaner shows and use an angle grinder on himself!!!Still, he got songs by snuff and headcleaner named in his honour. I remember seeing headcleaner supporting tad at the cambridge junction and he set the whole stage on fire!even tad said he was shit scared of him!
Agreed! Bandwagonesque is the best album ever too!
awesome! Best band ever! <3
the early 90s were happier days
Many camden folks were listening to Bleach but also Captain beefheart, and Stoogies were big. Nirvana was more songcraft. Silverfish was a new punk/hardcore. But people fed off each other. Sonic pictures were created of complex music outside the dumbed down oi oi crowd. It was like listening to Mozart and the lurch. When I came back to the states I never found such a loving scene between dancers as the lurch at Silverfish shows.
What was the date on this? I was the bass player in Slunk back in 89-91. Silverfish knocked some ear hearing and classic rock out of my head.
I missed the train. It was Lesley in the suit???
It was great!! 1990-1992, there were so many now-classic albums being released that you couldn't buy them fast enough. "Bandwagonesque"-the album from which this song comes, Matthew Sweet's "Girlfriend", MBV's "Loveless," Jellyfish's "Bellybutton, The Posies' "Dear 23", "Nevermind". I remember thinking that good music wasn't always going to be as easy to get. TF were the "Next Big Thing" at that point, more so than Nirvana.
awesome..... i love this song
great! you made me riarize が見たい!
OH MY GAWD! This was the first time we played this song live, and we didn't have any vocals for it, so got Bingo to set himself on fire while Lesley sat out the the set opener. The fire extinguisher ran out of steam, and Bingo nearly fried, but they found another one and he came out of it medium rare.
Great band...it reminds me the Lemonheads!
one of the greatest song on bandwagonesque. Awesome band live. thanks for sharing
