A belated Merry Christmas to you!
Aaaa! Yes! Eventide - my favorite book. Replaced Madame Bovary for me (pushed it to number two). Actually, number three. The second spot is held by The Other Woman - also written by Therese Bohman. I haven’t listened to your actual review of Eventide but the moment you said you want to read everything she wrote, I had to comment.
Love Barbara Pym -- the first book of hers I read was "Some Tame Gazelle", and I admit I picked it up mostly for the title. Was instantly addicted to her storytelling and writing skill.
I was waiting FOREVER for someone to review "The Final Act of Juliette Willoughby"! I agree completely with your review: it was one of the best books I read this year! And now I'll have a try at The Club
Thanks for liking the review and I hope you'll enjoy reading The Club.
That was a lovely tribute to your friend.
Thank you
I had the same experience with reading Vonnegut -- avoided it for a long time (not sure why but I had the impression he was "difficult") but was instantly won over when I read Cat's Cradle.
Just read consent today and i never thought about if i liked them or not until you said it😂 I read it in one day .mattie and sara reminded me of the movie Riding the Bus With My Sister w/Rosie O'Donnell Andie MacDowell. And jenny and sassy reminded me of how many people aren’t brought any closer in death than before in life
Interesting selection of books this week, I'm going to look for both of them.
Books all sound very interesting, and I'll be honest, I had no idea Patti Smith was an author too. That really surprised me for some reason. Also looking forward to reading your story about Isabella Linton -- I'm the sort who gets more interested in the side and background characters than the main characters, and Isabella is one of them. I'd honestly rather read about her than either Catherine or Heathcliff. Your new tea sounds delicious, I'm making myself a note to buy some!
Love British humor, and yes, I too watched Are You Being Served? I think that prepared me for Fawlty Towers later. If you haven't read it yet, I can recommend E. M. Delafield's The Diary of a Provincial Lady. It's exactly what the title says, taking place between the two world wars, and when I first read it I was either laughing out loud, in culture shock, or both. Will be looking up The Lesson, sounds right up my street.
I missed this one!
I'm glad you were able to watch it!
I had the opposite experience with crocheting and knitting -- crocheting was simple, but I couldn't get the hang of knitting at all. Then I couldn't crochet without shooting pains in my wrists so I finally ended up cross stitching. I hope some day to progress to hand embroidery. Did you post a link for Maureen? I don't see one. [edit: never mind, I found it!]
I'm taking crocheting slow AND I'm enjoying this new avenue of creativity.
The steam punk sounds interesting. My Dad believed strongly that heaven and hell were on Earth, and we created them both for ourselves and as a society by what we did and thought, so it doesn't seem a stretch to me to consider a literal hell created by our stories and actions.
Thank you!
Louis L'Amour was my Dad's favorite author, I think he must have read every single one of those books L'Amour wrote. I read one collection of short stories (not sure if it was the same one you read, this was so many years ago) and as I remember, I didn't dislike it but didn't feel like reading any other of his books either. Perhaps I'll give him another try. Tastes change so much over decades!
You're welcome!
Thanks for the recommendations! I love murder mysteries.
You are more than welcome!
I remember when Devil in a Blue Dress first came out -- I was just blown away.
I've also been trying to read more international authors, so thanks for the recommends! Hotel Iris sounds fascinating.
I think the Unitarians and Universalists joined together some time ago, may be wrong tho. They aren't so much a religion as a community of people of diverse religious beliefs united by secular interest. Originally, the UUC was a place for Xtians and Jews to get together to find common ground. Today they can be a mix of any religions, held together by whatever matters to the parishioners. The UUC in my city is made up of a fairly even mix of Xtians, Buddhists and Pagans, with a dusting of atheists/agnostics, whose primary secular interests are social justice and environmentalism. And yes, they're a very welcoming people and, it goes without saying, politically liberal.
Thanks for the information!
Best wishes with what you choose to read.
Recently discovered your channel and love everything about it. Have shared it with a friend's book group on Facebook.
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for the shout out. I love your description of the tea; in fact, I asked the person at the shop for a uniquely New Mexican tea. Sounds like they hit the mark!
Yes they did and THANK YOU!

I grew up with my mother boiling ginger root to make ginseng tea. Yes it was good for your health but the smell was REVOLTING lol. To this day I HATE the taste and smell of ginger LOL
Thank you for the review! I’m glad you enjoyed it :) the Immuni Tea has been super helpful for me during winter months!
Thank you so much for your review! I am happy to hear that you enjoyed the tea! I really tried to let the bold Gunpowder Green speak for itself, and have the lighter notes accentuate and blend the flavors :)

I haven't managed to convince Dave to let me have chickens but maybe one day
Thank you so much for such a heartfelt review!! ❤️❤️
Thank you so much ! Great video 🎉❤
A great read!
Thanks. That was awesome!
Adding Billionaire Buddha to my to read list.
I'm glad you enjoyed my book! To your question about the manwolf, Jago, I was indeed trying to channel Steve Irwin's voice when I wrote him. As for the profanity... I may have had too much Tarantino on the brain.
Thank you for the honest and kind review. Enjoy the rest of the book!
Happy to see your face! Miss you! Picked up one of your new books at MSC. Will read soon.
Thank you for the wonderful review and I'm so happy you enjoyed the adventure. Yay for my 5 cups of tea!
So much for taking the time to read and review it. I’m glad you liked it.
