13/44 Gearing on the Honda CRF300l
This was my first woods ride with 13/44 gearing on the Honda CRF300l. The stock gearing is 14/40 which is great for the street and dirt roads however the new gearing is far superior in the woods. I still can hit highway speeds with the new gearing and since I'm not riding highway at all this ratio suits my style of riding. My objective is to give you honest and fun adventures around Vermont and beyond on my Honda CRF300L dual sport motorcycle. Enjoy!

This bike is such a weapon for riding the streets to dirt to the woods. Where we are located in Vermont it's necessary to ride a portion of pavement to get to the trails and for that reason the Honda CRF300L is my bike of choice. I was thinking of getting a motorcycle for a daily driver but up in Canada we got 2 seasons, winter and road repair. I don't have a license yet and a G1 license for a car needs a whole year of driving with someone who has a full G license which I won't have available. M license seems much easier to get with can ride right away on a m1 with the restriction of no night time riding and that lasts only 60 days till I can get m2. I was looking at this bike for being a starter bike. I totally dont want a high power bike like a 750cc or 1000cc+ bike and would want one that will work for road riding. This bike is under 300cc but can get ABS and from what I can see is viable for winter riding too. Being a dual sport it should be better at the masses of potholes we have in my city too hopefully. Do you think this bike would make a good starter bike? EDIT: Forgot to mention I do have lots of experience riding fatbikes for winter riding in my city but bicycles are in a very different league than a motorcycle. I currently had a radrunner 2 ebike and a norco bigfoot 2 2019 bike.

      Go for it. The 300ls are a great platform for a variety of riders both new and old depending on where you interests lie. I mostly ride the woods so a lighter dual sport is key. I know you mentioned higher cc bikes in your comments however the bigger cc bikes is not skill oriented it all depends on the terrain you prefer. If it’s street you are looking to ride higher cc bikes will be more comfortable. If it’s woods or dirt roads or a combo then lighter dual sports are essential. Have fun!

      Thank you 🤘 My issue with the stock graphics is how cheap they are. Mine started blowing off during a wash. The SKDA graphics are far superior and I’ve put them on several of my bikes over the years. Easy to apply just get yourself a heat gun or hair dryer and take your time. Their graphics are precision cut!

    The sidestand kill switch I think is a legal requirement on all bikes, in the UK at least. One neat thing about it on the CRF300L is that it has a little metal protector around it to stop it being damaged on a rock. I don't think the CRF250L had this.

      I think you would fit just fine. It’s a taller bike for the class. I will say that you may need to upgrade the suspension. This will help not only for bigger riders but will suit a more aggressive riding style.

I am also planning on an RS4 exhaust this winter with a stage 1.5 ECU tuner and of course tires. Eventually I will upgrade the suspension as well but most likely next winter on that. @@vtoffroadadv735 Thanks, I'm considering the crf300l. The only real downside from what I've heard is the suspension. I'm hoping yamaha comes out with a wr300r to replace the 250. I'm pretty light at about 125 pounds and I'm short so I would prefer the lower seat height of the crf. And more low end torque.

    • @vtoffroadadv735
      @vtoffroadadv735 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed suspension would suit my style of riding for sure. I would say it’s an unnecessary mod if the rider is just on dual sport rides but enduro with more technical zones it would be more fun. It’s still a capable bike either way as you will see in my next edit. The best thing about the CRF300L for me is being able to ride it right out of my garage and take it anywhere from the store to the woods.

    Good video but most bikes have all these and have had for years, but may be for new riders. I have the KTM 390 Adventure, the DR650, and just got the Honda CRF 300 L do not understand the manual when it comes to changing things on the dash would be very good to see one, The KTM had even more but much easer to understand plus the switches are on the left handle bar much easer to get at. On the Honda I put Dunlop 606 tire on the rear and waiting for a Pirelli M16 for the front. for now have a Kenda big block on the front. Of any off road tiding it pays to up grade your tire. had mine put on before the bike left the shop. If you are doing more road and only light dry trail Dunlop TrailMax Mission are great tires have them on the KTM and DR They handle great on and off road and last a long time, Just not the best for deep sand and mud, they will do it but The 300L I will use 90% off road so went with something more aggressive. If you want to add a light weight ADV bike to the stable the KTM 390 Adventure with some 33/46 liter GIVI hard bags makes a great ADV bike Two in the stable is good and 3 is even better.

      @vtoffroadadv735 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Hilton. First off thanks for checking out my channel. Yes this video was intended for riders out there who have never owned a street bike. It's not uncommon for riders to have ridden their entire lives on dirt bikes and once they move to a dual sport bike the machine has several features necessary to be street legal. For those of you that have spent years on street bikes or street legal dual sports this video may not be geared to you however I still thinks it's a rad little insight on our beloved Honda CRF 300L. Sounds like you have a nice little quiver yourself and good notes on the tires. I've been riding all over Vermont and I'm going to hold off on tires until I wear down these IRC Trails. I guess I'm just stubborn that way but I can't allow a new tire to go unridden or end up in a land fill and I'm finding I can pretty much take them anywhere however I know how stoked I will be on a more aggressive set and I'm looking forward to that day. Also stoked to keep on on my mods as the winter progresses.
