Well this was not expected, switched from problem free but large DJI remote controller to the long range TBS Tango 2 ... and see what happened, not that far our. Yes, I did switch to US frequency because I do watch too much Bardwell videos :-)

This is the story of another iNav AutoLaunch fail. And just to stay it upfront, no animals were harmed in the making of the movie ;-) The frustrating part was that the Nano Goblin flew perfect the day before, launched and then switched into Acro. And today, a beautiful sky, at a friends house, it didn't quite work that way. The good news was that nothing got damaged, and we recovered the plane ...

Hi. You mentioned you are not using differential throttle. How did you wire the T1 twin motors and the 3rd motor? Thanks
Loved your video. I have tried to get it in the air without success. I fly planes and quads, but this thing will not get in the air. Wants to wing over, changed some of the original settings with no Joy. Tried different flight modes, I am missing something I can'' t see. Went back to your numbers (escept for servo wiring is different with Speedybeewing) Suggestions?
@@budnanc509 are you sure the wiring is correct? It’s important that it’s in alignment with the settings, asking because you say it wings over

Frisco, followed your lead on this. Thanks so much. Two questions, have you played with servo transition speed to smooth transition? And when you go from fixed wing to tri copter do you stop at all in the mid transition position or do you go right to tri-copter? Thanks again.
@@josephwelty5219 it’s a fairly quick transition between the modes and no I haven’t played with speeds
Just ordered a matek F-405 vtol and sometime in the next month or so, I will purchase a heewing T-1ranger vtol . Will setting up the board in INAV like you do in this video be the same. I believe you converted yours's from the standard heewing to a VTOL. Hope this makes sense . Newbie here.
Very good tutorial, can you please confirm me if (at 19:29mn) your Horizon Ch:06 should not be Ch:07 ? that means when you switch to plane transistion you will be in Horizon Mode, thx
Mine is not switching between mixer profile one and two ,it has transition set however it does not go from tricopter to fixed wing ,any tips?
I've got the hump with Ardupilot because it locks out the flying controls during the transition. Is it the same for iNav?

What about VTOL with quad setup to lift + pusher? Total 5 motors?
My transition servos(stabilized yaw) oscillate a lot when hovering. Not sure how to fix it yet. any ideas?
Is it very windy and it requires a lot of yaw?

I fixed it by adjusting the PID controller, lowering the I and raising the P, fixed my yaw transition servos stabilization@@RobertTheFriscoSchmid

Are you asking where to load the setup file? You have to go to the CLI, I think I am showing it in the video or did I misunderstand your question?

Hey - I'm following this build, but notice that @14:29 you have the motors mixed differently to the graphic of the tricopter (top right of screen). Your setup has motor 3 (S3) on the tail. The prop directions are also different from what is in the graphic (you have listed props-out, graphic is props-in). Is this correct, my experience of BF builds tells me this is going to cause issues as the FC will not know the correct layout of the motors relative to the gyro? Is that taken care of elsewhere in iNAV somewhere I have missed? Help please. :) Thanks.
The direction in the drawing is not correct but the settings are, try them and ignore the drawing

Hi, I'm ploughing through the vtol setup with this excellent video. Im almost done but does anyone know how to get control surfaces working in all vtol modes. They work great in fixed wing mode but transition and hover i get no servo movement. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Nick.
The only servos I need to move are the tilt for yaw when in hover and transition
The right ailerons moves very very slightly but that it. Ye tlit servos move perfectly. May be it only a few seconds to transition so maybe I'm a tad overthinking things. When the wind finally dies down I will test. Thanks Frisco@@RobertTheFriscoSchmid

Hey Frisco, setup is going great using your guide. Question, everything seems to be working but I want to put each aileron on its own ch. I put the second aileron on ch9. So I now have aileron 1 on output 7 and aileron 2 on output 9. I also created a new mix to point to the new output 9. All seems to be working ok, anything wrong with doing this, anything I am missing?
I know this is possible but haven't done it. What you are describing makes sense ... do the ailerons move in the correct direction? In all mixer profiles?
@@RobertTheFriscoSchmid Hey Frisco, yeah the ailerons work great in Mixer Profile 1, are the ailerons supposed to move in Mixer Profile 2?
Your ailerons and elevator should move during mixer transition. Dont forget that mix it isnt on the wiki@@afterburnerrc6333
Nice job, bud. In the INAV configurator, in Outputs, setting servos 1 and 2 with a minimum value of 500 and a maximum value of 2500 resolves the servo motor angle (tilt).
Brilliant job mate! I know a few guys who literally are among the most knowledgable in ardupilot vtol and were testers for Inav build development however they fail to go back to basics when making an instructional video. I'm also using DJI Vista and DJI air units too I plan on using this along with a DJI rc1 (black/radio). isn't it possible to use the DJI system instead of something like CRSF?
Yes I think you should just be able to use the 2 extra RX/TX pads on the DJI to the FC and then use SBUS

hi, I watched the video, my toggle profiles are not switching, did I miss something?
I have to wait for about 30-60 seconds before I can arm and the profiles switch ... read about that somewhere being normal but can't remember why that's the case
Why did you set mix transition angle is -45? Because it will not make plane go forward
-45 for my servos is about 45 degrees forward. I assume this depends how you installed the servo if its plus or minus 45. Makes sense?

Awesome work Frisco, really appreciate you publishing this for all the newbs like me. My Heewing VTOL setup has literally been sitting in my basement for about 6 months waiting for Ardupilot to support my Matek 405 VTOL, which just happened a few weeks ago. I was ready to run down the Ardupilot hole as I am more familiar with Inav. Glad I saw your channel as I will now stick with Inav and this is going to be a HUGE help. Thanks again, you rock!

You controller is most likely on the wrong frequency for your region. Mine was wrong out of the box.

I watched 5 or 6 videos while tracking the FedEx truck. Leave region to open and pick 915 for frequency. I don’t know if that’s your issue, but it happened to a lot of people and I never even came close to a failsafe. Maybe I got lucky.
Right, multiple reasons why this would happen. Most likely your antenna orientation wasn't the best, you may have had an obstruction near you/you may have been pointing the wrong direction, the drone most likely had awful antenna positioning and there is a good chance you had max power turned down... Never nice to see, but those are my assumptions
Make certain the Tango 2 is on the correct frequency for your region. That's the only time I've ever seen crossfire fail safe.
this is 100% what happened. it ships out the box with the wrong frequency for the USA, happened to me for a full day before i figured out what was going on lol
Mine does it almost every time I fly my drones. Can’t use it anymore, and my freqs were changed to 915 for America. Don’t know what to do 😢
Why switch to Acro on launch? Increase launch duration to 10 or 15s and increase climb rate. Launch in Angle or Horizon and don't change that till you have the goggles on and are ready to take control.
Why switch to Acro?
This setup worked the day before, all settings were right for AutoLaunch but I think I might have had a switch set wrong and it was on "Return to Home" so it took a left turn without me doing anything and then crashed. Makes sense? Also, I fly Acro after launch Stab/Hor don't really work for me, might be a quad pilot hangover ;-)
@@RobertTheFriscoSchmid Strange. Do you have it set to climb before return? I fly Acro too, but Horizon is good when following another plane & to relax when cruising around.
